Lupe Fiasco Drogas Waves out now - Who needs 7 tracks for a great album?

Still cannot stop playing this album. This might end up being the best hip hop album of 2015.

Crazy to think if it wasn't for anonymous we might never have heard this, crazy how much control these record labels try to hold over their artists.

And to think I wrote Lupe off... :smh:

Definitely in my top 3 again.

Listened to food and liquor yesterday and damn I forgot how amazing that album was.

Did the same yesterday man. Joint is most definitely a classic.

I also went back and listened to Fahrenheit 1/15: Revenge of the Nerds. Lupe absolutely slaughtered some of those tracks. Lupe the Killer? Ridiculous.

that intro to mural before the beat drops :smokin

body of work and little death :smokin :nthat: :pimp:

Was checking out some of his freestyles out and :wow: had no idea dude could come of the top like that.

Lupe The Killer is still a classic.

Tilted, Feel Good Inc, Switch, Little Weapon, Conflict Diamonds (first song that got me into Lupe :wow:), Slow Down, Game Time, Real Recognize Real, The Coolest...just off the top of my head.

Lupe has some classic ******* songs.:pimp:

Man, he thought that he'd fly away, like a kite, take flight
Like a letter on a string, like propellers on a wing
But the kite was the key
They made electric chairs for his dying days

Am I reaching?

I still haven't listened to the album backwards. On my to-do
But i can't say this enough. Murals.

Just Murals.

This song is hands down one of the best pieces of musical art ever made. This song alone is worth the $10 i paid for the album.

The first 3 bars.

We are all chemical, vitamins and minerals,
Vicodin with inner tubes, wrapped around the arm
To see the vein like a chicken on a barn

Humans are made up of chemical and vitamins and minerals. But so are drugs. The usage of inner tube showing how people who get high float through life like being on an inner tube. They tie their arm so they can see the vein, to get high. A vane on a barn has a chicken on it and sits atop of the barn (high atop the barn) which is a reference back to getting high.

3 bars.....

The line about:

Now whats a coffin with a scratched ceiling
and whats the talking with out the the match feeling.

His reference to being trapped on his label trying to get off. The way if you were trapped in a coffin and lit a match the match takes your oxygen. You can't talk once you lose the oxygen. The entendre on top of that why talk in general if there is not feeling behind the words to match.

I just always find myself in awe of his ability to say things like this in 2 bars and have my thinking for 10 mins picking it apart finding new things.

This album legitimately has to be studied bar for bar to be understood... Rap for the past few years has numbed me sooo much it's crazy

I miss when Lupe used to rap about that hood ****, has he gone back to that?

PS I'm the one who first pieced the Saga of Michael Young History together on Lupe's OG forum. I see someone took it and ran with it.

True Story

Well if true their is a rumor of the saga continuing on this album, don't know how true it is, because this IMO is his most concelaed album as far as meaning behind lyrics etc etc

A week ago today, I participated in a highly mind altering substance with a few friends, at one point I started listening to T&Y, after we had finished watching Prometheus. Those opening bars blew my mind, how much of a chemical reaction this substance was literally having on my brain and mind, and the fact that everything that we feel and experience in our minds everyday is truly just different chemicals reacting. Lupe's a genius :smokin

Also this part from Mural >>>>>

"My reposition was black condition of activism
I'm ammunition for abolition, missions attacking systems
But they not apt to listen, unless it's dropping on Activision
Are we app's or are we bodies filled with apparitions
Operating applications, stuck inside a apple prison
Check and hack downloads, updates that lack religion
Or, are we more?"

And on Adoration of the Magi

"Yeah, lots of options, now up is down, two player
Now A is jump and B is punch
You seein' somethin' that weren't there
To find friendliness in a nemesis, it's a old test
3 buttons, see somethin'
That's emphasis on genesis"

The double meanings/word play ...... :smokin :smokin :smokin

I LOVE this album

sheesh... ish got me like...

"But truth be told it's the pursuit of gold That turns the goal of men into trash The souls gold and they turning gold into cash And your reflection is your connection to more collections of more directions and paths If your reflection is a mask, then you're reflective of mass To see yourself just look at me then split your reflection in half"

Murals is on another level.

Copped my sister a copy (She's a Food & Liquor and The Cool fan) and I asked her if she gave it a listen yet, she said:
"My favorite track is Prisoner 1 & 2" :nthat: I thought she would've picked a song from Summer
Such a proud brother

The fact that he was able to get Buk from Pyschodrama on a record and Buk actually spit some ish. Very solid album from Lupe.
