Who y'all think have the Best/Worst ear for beats?

How hasn't Prodigy been mentioned for one of the best ears for beats over his entire career, ESPECIALLY when he started doing projects without Havoc? No diss to Havoc, but Prodigy did his thing without him.

Say what you wanna say about dude and his subject matter, but...

ASAP Mob, Spitta & Gucci really do have the best ear for beats.

And as others have said, Kiss & Nas man, they both deaf when it comes to good beat selection man.

Beat selection really does matter man, it makes guys like Webbie and Juicy J listenable, hell even enjoyable man.

idk how u can say the album is WACK to u now
even if u dont like the some of the beats there are a few GREAT ones that compliment him well
bye baby
Stay...............which is my personal fav
the don
nasty of course
back when
even daughters
u REALLY think its a wack album?????

i wanna see a nas album with 3-4 no id beats and like 2 justice league beats and throw in a 40 beat and MAYBE 1 swizz or timb beat as long as they aint on the hook
You forgot loco-motive

Nas has wasted so many years spitting on wack beats...

All we needed was the Premo album, a few joints with Pete Rock, RZA, 9th. What makes it even sadder is that RZA and 9th gave this guy beats and he never used them.

But then he'll put 2-3 wack *** tracks with Salaam on the album, or some other garbage producer, and then the excuse Nas gives is he needs a clear canvas or some ****...foh. Dude hasn't worked with Large Pro in forever, but he can spit some bs on locomotive as a hype man, but he can't get one of his beats on the album?

Clear canvas my ***. Terrible ear for beats.

Then Premo comes out this week and says...yeah Nas has one more album to give Def Jam and then we're going in on the joint album...

Yeah right.
Although, I'm not as critical of Life is Good as you are ("Trust" is my ****), PREACH.

it bothers me that with each nas album we could've gotten so many more large pro, RZA, pete rock, premo, q-tip, 9th wonder, etc tracks... if he would've added just a couple of these tracks to each album it would've offered such a better balance. he just fits on their production so well :\

would've loved to hear him go in over j dilla & madlib production too.

If Future had Yung Lean's beats

It's actually quite a shame that these troll artists like Lil B and Yung Lean find those obscure trap/ambient style beats and waste them, meanwhile the sound of the regular trap genre is getting old

I'm sure someone on NT lurking knows a way to get in contact with Future, tell him to make a tape going over Yung Lean's beats . . . ****** in the hood don't know who a Yung Lean is anyway lol

Nas immediately came to mind for worst.  It's so bad that I legit don't get excited when I hear he has a new album dropping.  You already know the album is gonna start out bangin' and then fade into bolivian with the god awful production.

AZ also has a tendency for HORRIBLE production.  But when the beat is right, that **** feels so damn good.

Off the top, Curren$y has one of the best ears for beats, IMO.  Dude sticks with his one lane and goes with it and it works every single time.

( it hurt to type that. But it is the truth. steady decline since "The Cool")

Ross, Spitta, Wiz, Dom K, and ASAP Rocky all have great ears for beats

Life is good was :pimp: :pimp: from beginning to end... even bonus tracks were piff...

loved this album... the different sounds he put together for it really made it a great project. you got the 90's feel with tracks like loco-motive & reach out, you got the jazz influenced tracks like stay & cherry wine, his story telling on a queens story & the world is an addiction, & then you have trust which sounds like its straight off I Am...

he's a perfect fit over j.u.s.t.i.c.e. league production too with that intro.

plus its such a personal album (especially with daughters & bye baby) so everything he spills out into these tracks was appreciated.

there's some instances where nas has a bad ear for production & other cases where he really delivers with his choices... this was one of those albums where he delivered imo & it was a good overall project from a production standpoint & lyricism standpoint.

I never understood why people say Nas has a bad ear for beats .. Go listen to that J Armz Mixtape with all of his beats on it

Because instead of picking people who fit his style, he picks people who don't fit his style. They might be good producers, but not every producer fits every rapper. He might hear the beat, but he doesn't seem to take in to account himself over that beat.

Nas needs boom bap beats behind him. Some rappers can rap over practically anything, Jay-Z for example, that's not Nas. The producer should also gear his beats towards Nas.

That's why a lot of his songs are hit and miss. I love Nas, but I find a lot of his songs are not very listenable.

I would have put Nas with Nottz or Alchemist instead of Salaam Remi.

Very good mention. Solo wise, outside of that HNIC3 trash, dude doesn't miss

I don't think necessarily Prodigy has a good ear for beats, he's around Havoc and Alchemist

It's like saying Guru or CL Smooth had a nice ear for beats.

WRONG.

:smh:

Product of the 80's was produced entirely by Sid Roams and Jake One. H.N.I.C. Pt. 2 featured Sid Roams early in their career (P basically put them on) and Apex. While he does use a lot of Alchemist beats, he does go outside of his camp for beats AND he sure isn't picking the wack beats (if such a thing exist) from Alchemist.

Like Peep Game said, with the exception of H.N.I.C Pt. 3, P has been consistent on his solos.
