The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- UFC 300 ON NOW

conor has to work them leg kicks in and just try to out point nate. dont see him knocking out nate, guy's chin is made of granite

Has Conor been a fighter who utilizes his kicks like that? To me he has always been one of those flashy kickers  not someone who tears someone's leg/body with kicks over and over. I guess he kind of did it to Chad Mendes but Chad came in on short notice and didn't have the god like endurance the Diaz bros have.

belts dont mean anything in the ufc
if the guy is marketed and gets a push, he could main event a show regardless if he has a title or not. it helps if he has a belt, but i feel it isn't necessary.

tyron woodley may be the champ, but if two guys like robbie/diaz (throw in gsp) wanted to fight, that would do bigger numbers than anything woodley can get. he's a ufc on fox type guy. nobody is spending money to see just woodley

You get it. Besides the "greats" and Connor/Ronda/Holly/Tate/Diaz#1/Diaz#2/Chael/Bisping/California Kid/Paige/Sage, who are their stars?

Belts don't mean anything. I mean we're in an era where it's tough to hold onto them. Market the stars so cards can garner more interest and fight cards and PPVs can get that attention. You have untapped markets in Asia and the Hispanic and Black community. You're going to need stars people can relate to and want to root for.

Watched the Mcagregor/Diaz fight for the first time. Connor wasn't employing his usually movement and kick/strikes. He also relied too much on lead left smh. I think he was gassed by his quick fights and mentally dominating his opponents. Nate was not the one. It exposed how to mentally break Connor. How weak his grappling game is. And not sure if it's a case of mentally breaking or his gas tank. He should've definitely taken the fight at 155 to make Nate a little haggard for the fight. Nate has fought at 170 before. However, he's probably a little small for that division. Works better at 155. Same with Connor at 145/155.

Yeah, his striking and movement weren't the same. Cavanagh better have that A1 strategy. I'm not saying Connor can't win but we've already seen Nate wash him on two-weeks notice.

He was loading all his punches against Nate trying to prove a point. The sad thing is, Conor landed a lot of power punches and Nate didn't flinch

Conor is smart, he'll at least come with a different game plan. Will he win? Maybe not, but he'll utilize more skill than just go out there and head hunt. He needs to come in much better shape cardio wise

Would be interesting to see Conor survive into 5 rounds. The only thing he can stand on is that he won round 1... Other than that it's pretty bleak

Just read what Conor said in the presser, he predicts a 2nd round Ko and promises to be in better shape

I don't see how this is possible but if he can land some body shots then maybe

That dummy should've been in great shape for the first fight. He's the one who had a full camp and was preparing for the lw champ.

He should have been. He got the idea that it was ok to just eat whatever he wanted to bulk up after he found out Nate would be at 170. the mendes fight made me question his cardio

Plus anyone will gas when you're throwing full power shots for 5 straight minutes

What was his first fight prediction again

He couldn't knock out an 11 day notice Diaz with his best punches how the hell will he do it now

Conor career will start going into life support after this. Jumping up and down in weight. "I'll be in better shape" .......

Diaz beat him on 2 weeks notice and he's talking about being in better shape
laugh.gif

Nate will go through him again and Aldo will finish him off.

Nate doesn't want to take a loss but he's not as dumb as he talks. Talking a loss and making a rubber match fight would be the ultimate pay day. Crazy talk but I'm just saying.

he beats Conor again and his paydays against anyone are gonna be high.

Only way he stops Nate is body shots. He landed one or two in the first fight that I felt. Suprised he didn't go back

I think Nate stops conor, again.

Not sure what round.....but if nate wants to....he can end the fight any time he wants.

LOL nate didn't even attempt to take conor down the first fight....

Now imagine nate shooting LOOKING to take it to the ground :x

Well see how conors movement looks if he's constantly being taken down or drowned for multiple rounds.

5 round fight definitely plays into Nates favor

I think nate plays it smart, stays on the outside gets in and out and doesnt get into a barn burner this time around...and gets timely takedowns

Even if conor starts lighting him up and starting to outpoint him, nate just going to take him down and point him there until/if a sub presents itself.
