i def remember the insole covering up the vent on the inside of the shoe. and yea, it's def. a disappointment that the midsole "teeth" won't have that beautiful metallic pearl paint. that was one of my favorite details about the og c/w. so subtle.

Maybe YOU had an Insole that didn't cover it up, but the Vent being Useless has always been the case, since the OG's, FOR MOST, bro.

Yea, never said I didn't believe you. And I've actually saw some where it was fully visible, but most I've seen where covered.
I've owned Black Toes & Laney Lows... mine was partially covered, but to the point where the vent was useless.

I understand and accepted the fact that all retros, regardless of model, will be different than the OGs. The nostalgia factor on these 14s are pulling at me hard though.

SO CRISPY. And the OG's held up like TANKS. The Leather was Butter Grade... they were just as crispy 8-9 years later.
And now, I clearly recognize the differences:
- Lower Grade of Leather/Not even
- Longer Tongue
- Wider stitching area on the Upper that holds Lacing System
- No Pearl finish along Midsole
- Nubuck Toe instead of OG Suede Toe
- Brighter Red at Top of the Heel compared to the Deep Ox Red on the OG (Texture possibly different)
- Inner Collar is now mesh textured
With all that said, it's a game-time decision, but I'm leading towards the Copp... Nostalgia is winning me over.

Anybody ever thought of hitting these with a Clear Coat w/ Pearl Finish...?
The Finish was only on the teeth & the portion of midsole directly above the CF Piping. Might be an Option.

Retros are always gonna be tweaked. Perhaps it was a flaw correction or whatever. I know a lot of times the material on the tongue rubs the ankle/foot. They are clean. Hope they will be readily avail.

Foot Locker Launch Locator. Even shows Alaska and Hawaii getting stock at multiple locations. A couple of my local FTLs are giving out raffle tickets starting Monday & Tuesday this week, while others I think will be doing FCFS. Champs hasn't updated their launch locator yet.
But to those who are 100% on board in getting these, I suggest you start doing homework on them.
EDIT: 9/20 doesn't look like there will be other releases that could dampen the market, unlike previous weeks where there were Lebron's, Kobe's KDs, and Jordan's that released on the same saturday. So if you really want them, start researching your "plan of attack".

the white/red XIV came out in early 1999 indeed and not in early summer 1998.
I know mj had his own pair already back then. You can see that in a scene in Michael jordan to the max video. He was doing sparring in them during the finals i think.
He also wore the black toe casually and for the video i mentioned.
And please don't call them candy canes. ...one of the worst nicknames for an og colorway made by some hype beasts.

I've got OG WHT/red, oxidized, blk/red, indiglo, and Carolina lows, NONE of them have the vent covered by the insole, that BS started with the retro.

One problem with that pearl finish over time it got glue like. It seems like flypaper.
I'll dig them out. I don't think they do or either I never noticed it.

And yea the cream colored midsole and teeth got sticky over time.

And yea, the Entire Upper held up VERY WELL, were still in great condition 10-12 Years later.
Can't say the same for the Bottom Sole though... but that was a given. Ultimately what made me not care to toss mine.
