The Combat Jack Show Thread

Tax is a terrible interviewer. Dude stopped twice after he got a long thoughtful response to talk about his phone buggin' out.

With that said, I loved the podcast this week and I haven't really listened in a while.

Him thinking he got popped was

So who is going to be the first street ***** to have the focus and ability of a journalist, while keeping things rough around the edges like Nore and Tax?

Y'all tripping lol not doubting him being woke or anything but

Tax is a down right terrible interviewer. Dude fell asleep during the first interview.

During this one he randomly start talking bout his phone dying and some other crap.

He's trash man .

If the guests is not carrying him the show is down right terrible

Exactly. I'm gonna let y'all _s keep thinking he's some savant or some ****. Quite sure ALOT of us who frequent the music section can do the same thing he does but better. Call me a hater I guess but I don't see him ingratiating himself with others like himself, trying revolutionize the podcast game and the narrative that black people face in this country. All I see is a n_ with a platform who knows a lot of people.

Why didn't they edit the part out where the microphone messed up  They don't even bother with Tax's show, they just do it as is.

Him falling asleep

He interrupted a show for upliftment to rant about podcast ratings  Was that a shot at Nore or Rap Radar?

You even LISTEN to TAX this week? Or the end of the Oshino pod? This ***** cut Oschino off for the last 15mins to have a soliloquy on Institutional racism. He brought Kenny back TWICE (really 3x b/c he was fried last time).

Hell, Kenny was bigging Tax up for the interview where he fell asleep on him. He said tax was empowering....then passed out like a narcoleptic from all the dusse/drugs .

You got a street *****....who was in jail as recently as 2 years ago.....that is TRYING to change his way of thinking, and bringing activist and leaders to spread "the message". Even encouraging hood ****** on a daily basis to eat better in a comical way. Something as small as that goes a long way.

Yet, you wanna be skeptical and call it nonsense? Cmon man. That's mad destructive.

Brothers being skeptical of tax spreading a positive message....is like Shaq questioning why Kaep ain't come into the league on this "conscious" tip.

We all gotta start somewhere. Some of or greatest leaders ain't start till late (Malcolm X). I'm all for brothers encouraging the right message, when they have the platform and voice to do it.

Questioning them because of their past, or how rough they are around the edges is counterproductive. But y'all don't wanna see the growth. I see the growth with a brother like Tax. Simply from his talking points.

We have ALOT to re-learn....and anybody willing to go back and open their thought process and learn their true history, at any point in their life.....is ok with me.

It's never too late:

Anybody else podcast app mess up often (Apple)

It'll say episode is unavailable then I have to remove download to get it to play

Tax = modern day Malcolm X

**** from the responses in this thread he might as well be. I'll continue to be a destructive minded critic because I feel he has a platform and there's so much more that he could do and offer. Peewee Kirkland basically alluded to such but I'm the crazy misguided cat who's just echoing the same sentiments. Tax task force about to chew me out

Pewee was the 1st episode of Tax season a year and some change ago.

You being skeptical of a man Taking an OG's advice....and growing is wild to me.

But carry on.

couldn't have put it better... Simply put you have a street ***** who hasn't lost that street edge, difference is that he's using it in a more positive way. people relate to him & it doesn't matter how the message is digested as long as it sticks

I think we all want the same things for our people **** I'm out here everyday with these youth trying to make a change in their lives but somehow someway if I feel a tad bit different about someone who y'all _s look up to y'all gonna attack my perceived character and my beliefs ? That **** is wild CORNY. How dare you compare me to these cornball GOP talking heads on television because I'm not a huge taxstone fan. I feel we all can do what he does given the opportunity to a even bigger extent and that's that. Don't ever come for me

Dog, you high or something?. **** You geekin for.

Nobody "came for you". Some people just think it's counterproductive to knock another brother for finally waking up. And using his platform to spread that message. I don't understand how you can't grasp that simple concept.

Woo sah is really needed. Chill out.

Kingfoamnyc, if you wre really with the youth daily and want to see change, you would know and understand that it's people like tax that will be the catalyst for that change. He been through it, and is bettering himself while encouraging people to do the same. He's openly stated that gangs are wack, the drug game, pimps, the hood, being gangsta etc. he understands these things now as an older man. What, would you rather him flex on Troy ave every episode like he used to? If your about change and growth why not respect his?

Tax task force assemble. Protect Tax at all cost

Not only is tax a modern day leader, but he also is a great writer. His wordplay is amazing the way he describes things

I have no problem with what he's doing at all. He definitely has a voice and platform all I'm saying is that I want more I want to see him build and mold young people like him because he has the platform to do so. It's great hearing the guest he has on that's from the entertainment industry but my thing is instead of having the build a bear thot "DJ" on every week that adds nothing to the show how about having a young up and coming journalist, community activist, or council person from NYC or wherever sit in and be interviewed or even assist him with questions when he has a powerful guest on the show. The man has carved a lane for himself which is extremely admirable all I'm saying is I would be more impressed if he tried to form a coalition or a conglomerate of young oppressed youth that will force the change of the narrative and really start the process of abolishing social constructs. Having a voice and a audience is one thing what you do with it is another.

I apologize for the way I came at you, your my guy but I take this really serious. I'm actually out here doing my best to make a change with the youth and I feel it's highly disrespectful to put me in a box like I'm some ***** who supports the ******** that comes out of a Stephen A, Shaq, or a Ray Lewis' mouth's because I'm not a huge fan of Taxstone. I feel like that's super wack

I see where kingfoamnyc kingfoamnyc is coming from. Like how Tax interrupts stories to discuss his cell phone like he's texting during the interview. It's hard to tell if he's sincere or it's a hustle. Like the whole Troy Ave situation. The whole issue was Tax was upset that he felt Troy was lying about his lifestyle and selling bricks. Which is the silliest thing ever for someone who claimed he wasn't even trying to live that life anymore.

I just don't like the contradictions and the hypocrisy. Being in jail not too long ago means what exactly ? You can find the most "woke" dude in the world who's behind bars, I'm sorry but that doesn't impress me. He appeals to a certain type of character only a certain type of n_ will call son "this generations Malcolm X" and half heartedly mean that. This generation of black men and woman are so easy to please it's ridiculous. Word to hot sauce Hillary swindling the black vote from Bernie Sanders but that's a whole nother conversation.

Lol yeah, I agree with the Hilary thing. But, I feel he will pull in a wider audience and get the young ear by having guests like oscgino, djs etc. once he has those ears, then people can't help but get the other gems within the episodes.
Let's say a certain kid tuned in when he had PNB rock, that same kid may check an episode with Kenneth Montgomery just because he enjoyed when pnb rock was on. If he had guests like Kenneth Montgomery all the time then I doubt that many young people would listen.

Hell yeah most definitely. My point is there's ways to diversify yourself and also bring other people to your platform to gain knowledge. Son always on IG posting pics of people he know that's in jail. I don't ever see him posting pics of young black and brown men or women who's doing they thing in these inner city communities. I'm just calling it as I see it

Never put you in that box. My whole point is to encourage brothers that are learning, open to learning and consistently spreading that message. Not to be skeptical about them because they are rough around the edges.

Dude literally said he feels like a new born baby with all the knowledge he's learning. He's re-thinking his whole existence, and why things are the way things are. Of course dude isn't going to be perfect. Y'all expecting perfection out of dudes, when we fkc up ourselves. It's a process. You gotta encourage that. Not try to discredit it.

Tax Isn't an interviewer. Thats who he is. And part of the appeal. He'll go on a random rant...and get right back on topic. Again, dude is working at being an interviewer...and growing knowledge as a black man. Shouldn't be skeptical about that. The message is there.

Wait. The last 3 weeks he's had a random pro black sister on there to kick some knowledge about astrology. Kenny Montgomery to kick knowledge about institutional racism. And then, took time out of a Rockafella podcast to go on a "rant" about systemic racism....on HIS platform.

Yet you criticism him for encouraging the freedom of brothers like him that are going thru the struggle? You aren't making sense. And dude post knowledge all day on IG and Twitter.

:smh: at y'all. If you say you don't like Tax, that's cool. But to question a brother actually reaching out, putting non celebs on a platform and spreading the message?

Smh
