As for what finns was askin on the roster, you can't cut 7 of your defensive starters you weirdo.
First off, Daniel Thomas and Marcus Thigpen gotta go. Wasting my roster space.
Grimes, franchise. (I'll get to this in a moment)
Try to keep at least one of the DT's. Soliai preferably, but I kinda think his agent hates us and he's gone. We'll see. Have to try and keep one.
Clemons, keep, but cheaply.
Sadly, nothing can be done about the defense this year, outside of some tweaking.
Nolan Carroll or Dimitri Patterson, one "could" stay, but I think both will be out. It would help, if one of them could stay.
Overall, spend the offseason on O. All of it. Some of you question whether Ryan Tannehill is the guy. Well, find out. Get him a FULL offense. His first year, he had no receivers, this year, he has no OL. Fix that.
Sign an OT in FA. Draft another in Rd 1.
Draft OG in Rd 2
Round 3, we might be able to spend on a DT if we lose one or both, but I would prefer to use on offense, but may have no choice.
Round 4, RB or WR
Round 5, WR or TE (if not taken in 4)
Round 6, TE or WR, whichever is left over.
We also have about 20-30 mil in cap space, so we can still add players, and maybe we will, either on offense or defense, but I HOPE this year, they rebuild that offense for Ryan.
Gibson, Keller, Binns, Hartline, all coming off knee injuries. (thankfully Hartline isn't that bad, but still)
Need to add a couple weapons. We had Egnew and Marlon Moore out there in the 4th quarter yesterday.
Get more depth.
Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Matthews, and draft pick ?
Miller, Draft pick, Gillislee, or maybe a FA 3rd RB.
Clay, Draft pick, and maybe Keller comes back, or Sims. (need work here)
And of course, revamped oline.
The defense is "decent" but not elite enough. But we do have youth. Vernon, Jordan, Taylor, and Davis are all gonna be in year two, they "should" be better and help improve things. But we can't fix the LBer core right away, outside of free agency. (tricky)
So get the offence right, and we can rebuild the defense in 2015. As I stated in the other thread,
2012 QB
2013 DE
2014 OT
2015 CB?????
The 4 crown jewels of building a team. We have 2 down, and we pretty much all expect to take OT in 2014, so that leaves just a CB in a 4 year span. So you franchise Grimes for a year, he's pushing 32 next year, get one solid year from him, and then draft one in the first round 2015. By then, hopefully Taylor and Davis are worthwhile #2-3 corners. (all of this in theory of course)
Wake is the wild card. Part of me would like to flip him, but another part of me says wait til Vernon and Jordan do take that next step so we can have a solid rotation of 3 of them. But these coaches have GOT to get them on the field. Wake was on the bench so much yesterday.
Bunch of idiots. Play the best players you clowns. Ugh.
Yes, it is Canter. He hates us. (cuz he wants big money for Paul of course. )
Can't just cut Wheeler and then put a rookie in his spot. Best case, MAYBE Jenkins can join the group of young kids and play well in year 2. That would be ideal, but using ANOTHER draft pick on LB won't help.
Yes, the D has struggled vs Geno and Thad, but again, look, 19 and 20 points. That's what they gave up. Our fail was the offense not showing up to help out.
Look at it this way, IF Ryan and Wallace get another year together, shouldn't some of those timing things start to clean up? Not even all of them, say they hit 50% more than this year, that's another 4-5 TD's just off that alone. Without even fixing the OL, or RB's, etc. Just them getting right and on the same page.
Now, fix that line, get another RB, another WR, AND get them playin right?????????? Suddenly the O starts to help out a lil bit, right?
So in effect, the D won't be top 5 elite like we hoped, but decent enough to allow only 20 points, figuring we can score more than 20 each game.
Success in the NFL Draft can make or break a NFL team, and no draft class was less productive in 2013 than the Dolphins.
An analysis by The Palm Beach Post shows that the Dolphins draft picks combined for just 866 snaps this year. They were the only team in the NFL that didn’t get more than 1,000 snaps from their rookies. Buffalo linebacker Kiko Alonso himself — a second round pick — was in on every one of Buffalo’s 1,177 defensive snaps.
I bet they stole that from me last night.
I tweeted our whole draft didn't have the total snaps that Kiko did. Those jerks.
But it's really how this group is, and it won't mean anything going forward. Think of all the slow starters we've had. Soliai, Hartline, Jones, Clay, Carroll, eventually they all get on the field and produce. A year or two from now, Jordan, Taylor, Gillislee, Davis may all be playin a bunch. Key is for them to just keep learning and working hard.
That said, we NEED the 2014 class to get out on the damn field. Just once, I want my first 5-6 picks to be out there helpin out FULL TIME. Get some speed, youth, energy out on the field. If there was ever a year to do that, I hope this is it.

With that said, I really would not be surprised to see Philbin stay... I also wouldn't be surprised to see Ireland stay.

How the hell did I not know there was an official Dolphins thread before!!? Man I'd rather rant on here than try to on the Miami Herald's dolphins app! Lol
On Mando's blog? The comments there are hilarious
Alex Marvez reporting Sherman likely gone, Philbin and Ireland staying.
I'm losing enthusiasm...
Yeah! Half the people that talk on there are freakin trolls... It reminds me of our forums but just about football! Haha
How did Ross not have a plan ready just in case? This team should've been an 11-12 win team easily if it wasn't for bad coaching & no 2nd half adjustments. That's not just on the players, that's on the coaching staff. You can see they do not put them in the best positions to succeed at times. Sherman attempts 5-8 runs and because it isn't working he gives up on it and goes pass happy? How did that work out against Buffalo? Coyle just seems like he can never make the right adjustments in moments they're needed, and our D gets exposed. Firing Sherman is a no brainer, and I really don't think Keeping Philbin another year is going to help the team. If they go 8-8 or 7-9 again next season, all Ross has done is stunted the teams development another year rather than cutting ties immediately and starting fresh. We have a ton of talent, we just need good coaching!
For sure, some even have multiple screennames
Ross is a poor owner. Honestly he's even worse than Huizenga was. He is a billionaire for making sound business decisions but right now he might as well employ a Careerbuilder chimp as his advisor. Or CP, same thing.
Coyle and Sherman were unable to make adjustments, both are old school stubborn coaches. Sherman was fired everywhere he's been, GB, A&M, honestly it's a wonder he is employed in the NFL. Not for long. However, let's make no mistake, the LB's played poorly, the secondary was weakened, and the pass rush was anemic. The QB turned the ball over way too much, and the line couldn't block for spit. The fact that the team finished 3rd in the division after spending $110 mil and 5 early picks means it's time to blow it up, but Ross is a fool.
