Anybody on here bout that life? When I was sourcing manufacturers for my custom basketball shorts, I decided to look into electronics, bluetooth headphones to be particular. You send an email about them and end up getting tons of emails quoting flat unbelievable prices, a few companies hit me back with believable prices but end of the day, all of them want you to pay Western Union or bank transfer. Western Union, unlike Paypal, has no fraud resolution so if you get gone, deal with it glasses.

I was interested mostly in the unbranded ones or the Bluedio R+8 blueetooth headphones ( Amazon link ) so I used Alibaba.com to search and hit up some retailers and ask for quotes and m.o.q's (minimum order quantity). On those, I have been quoted $6.25 with a moq of 20, $4.50 with a moq of 20, and $16.40 with no m.o.q.

There's also the super plain unbranded ones, which there' US sellers who sell on eBay for $20 shipped and $25 on Amazon so I emailed him and he said I could get them for $14 if I buy more than 6, so I can believe they are cheap to produce.

Anyways, anybody ever done wholesale business across seas for electronics? Did you get ripped off? How'd it turn out?

I've done wholesale purchase from china before, but not for electronics. Honestly Alibaba has its share of scammers so be careful.

I will pm you some people I know out that way to help out cause really its about knowing whos phony and who's fake.

I have...

You have be very particular about the vendor because you can get a box of off brand stuff and the quality be crap...

I've bought Bluetooth headsets, headphones, and pocket PCs.... I've also done it with motorcycle parts (bought in bulk to be sold)

They were all crap with the exception of a few. Lol.

Lost some dough but it was more due to transaction costs than pricing issues.

My advice is to make sure you get a quality product and be double sure you have a market or demand for the product.

And even if the product sucks, you can price it low... But you still have to have a demand for it.

i remember my friend did that with cell phone cases and accessories. dude still has boxes of those lying around in his house

Which one did you buy from? Those Bluedios go for $85 on eBay, the plain cheapies for around $22 but I can get that from the hommies, I have emails from a Space Electronics, ChuangQuiangElectonics, and Ecreditelectronic.com.

Been strongly considering buying some things wholesale off alibaba to resell here in the states. I've contacted a few sellers for different products and will post the outcome of my transactions here.

Been thinking about purchasing whole sale for a minute. Have any of you actually flew out to Asia and buy direct???
My old lady works for the airlines and flights to Asia are about 75$ one way. Stand by of course.

i think thats the best way to go. you are at a deep advantage because of those flights. now it would all depending on your searching skills and your plan. if i had nothing to do, id actually consider moving there and just find profit trees everywhere.

I use to juug imports. And I know a OG that made a living doing it.

Alibaba.com is the most reiable. Every dealer on there is verified. Quality of product is up in the air tho. So order a sample.

I used to do this with headphones back in the day.  Made a killing but my advantage was that I personally knew someone overseas.

I've never personally done it but the more I look into importing and reselling I see a lot of people have done it. Usually electronics are avoided because these factories aren't usually of the highest quality manufacturers, the items usually have a high margin for error and electronics are the easiest for the customer to detect the error which results in a lot of returns/loss. Ask for samples, I wouldn't go through with it unless I was extremely satisfied with the samples and the communication with the manufacturers.

my cousin used to buy stuff from China and re sell here...mostly clothes tho, but he never had any problems

I made very good money in the import business last year. You need a Chinese translator and a Chinese supplier here in the states who has direct contact with manufacturing in china. If you are selling online stay away from electronics (there is one exception). Make sure the item you offer is small and under 13oz.

I know there is a strong demand in digitizers for phones. We found our niche and the competition is to crowded, but if you know what you are doing and find a way to be noticed in front of the competition you will do great selling those. I have access to Terapeak so pm me if you wanna see exact eBay sales on items you are looking to sale.

I used to sell hoodies/beanies on campus from a wholesale Chinese exchange site. The work wasn't worth the profit margins for me.

But electronics, I would think people would be skeptical, especially online.
