Red can u please explain how this can be made possible with the cap and Our Kap needing that extension??

there's couple loopholes the most common one being you backload the contract and give him a 'big' signing bonus. the signing bonus is prorated throughout the length of the contract so he wouldnt cost us much until later in the contract. by the time you need to pay them big other contracts will be coming off the books.

example:

i have 4 dollars in cap room, but i signed @49ersaaron8  for 3 years 15 dollars w/ a signing bonus of 3 dollars. your base salary(which is a immediate hit for that year) this year is 2, then 5, then 8 and you get an extra dollar each year from your signing bonus which is divided over the length of the contract($3 over 3 years so $1 each year). i only took a cap hit of 3 dollars(2 from base and 1 from signing bonus) and made it under the cap.

btw none of your money is guaranteed(except signing bonus) so you fail me and i will ship your *** to the raiders for peanuts.

anyone doubting whether we can sign him doesnt know what theyre talking about. now will it make things really messy in the future? yes, it could.

btw every die hard 49er fan needs to read this regarding compensation picks -

there's genius to way some GMs are accumulating compensation picks(including trent). this is why you should NEVER panic if we lose a big name player.

lol dont trip off that. he was on 95.7(raiders flag ship station) earlier today and he said he doesn't have a specific team he wants to go to if he could choose. they asked him about st louis and he said he'd love to be a ram so it's safe to say he's just excited about being drafted. and it's not like he can choose where he goes.

brandin cooks grew up a 49er fan so you know where he wants to go.

"i'd love to blow the top off defenses for my favorite team growing up" - brandin cooks

Was browsing through pictures of when I went to DC and came across this pic of Kap with sleeves

:wow:

Although I'd probably do the same thing if I was sitting on the sidelines literally the entire game..I bet dude would've ripped them off if he went in

sometimes I forget that kaep has already been to a super bowl and an nfcc and played almost brilliantly in both. after rewatching his playoff games the past two seasons, I'm sold. throw the man every penny he deserves, otherwise I'm pretty sure another team will...so what if his instagram perpetually looks like that of an 18 year old millionaire

The one difference to me is that his passing and accuracy regressed during this year's playoff run compared to our SB run. During that SB run I had so much confidence in his accuracy, but during this playoff run whenever he was under pressure I held my breath.

Dudes going into his 2nd and a half-ish year playing and has been to a Super Bowl and an NFC Championship.. I understand the ultimate goal is a Super Bowl win but my goodness..

This wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that he played his first game in negative 10 degree weather or played his second and third games against elite defenses now would it?

Kap will be fine aslong as he continues to work on his QB fundamentals ie footwork(both passing and dropping back), locating passing lanes, ETC.

the legend himself the inconvenient truth franky G will be at ****'s sporting goods in daly city tomorrow.

i went back to watch some PAC 12 games and i totally forgot how lethal of a vertical threat paul richardson is. everyone is worried about his skinny frame but as a 3rd round pick we might want to take a flyer on him with that comp pick. could be an ideal 3rd receiver to stretch the field vertically. dude just glides past coverage kind of reminds me of a taller Djax.

Richardson some more Cali kids I like it. He's been under the radar just like davante Adams and Allen Robinson I would like either 3 if they're there in the 3rd round.

i totally forgot about dude. you cant teach, learn or work this ability to accelerate off the line. dude just needs to eat doe.

No. 3 WR targets for Niners
April, 4, 2014
By Tom Carpenter | ESPN.com

San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said during the owners' meetings that he thinks they need to add a legit No. 3 WR.

“Yeah. No. 3 receiver, a third guy that can get open, make plays, another option for the quarterback to go to,” Harbaugh said. “A chance to attack areas of the field. A playmaker. That’s what we’re looking for.”

No team used fewer three-WR sets last year than the Niners. Will Harbaugh open up the playbook in 2014?

"... [T]here have been hints that Harbaugh is planning to loosen up the attack a bit, and not just his words at last week’s owners’ meetings," wrote Matthew Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

"The 49ers considered several wideouts during free agency – Julian Edelman, Hakeem Nicks and Emmanuel Sanders – and they at least flirted with the idea of acquiring the most high-profile receiver available, DeSean Jackson. That suggests they had a plan to incorporate Jackson into an offense with Michael Crabtree, Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis."

The Niners never ended up signing any of those free agents, so they likely will need to turn to the draft in order to add another playmaker to their WR corps:

Teams that must find WR fits

"San Francisco has three picks in the third round, and Clemson's Martavis Bryant is an intriguing fit at that point. The 6-4, 211-pound receiver has a loose, flexible frame and the speed to stretch the field vertically. He wasn't an ideal fit within Clemson's offense, has dealt with drops and comes with some immaturity concerns. However, his flashes on tape and upside are hard to ignore. I've said for a few months that Bryant compares favorably to the late WR Chris Henry, who played for the Bengals. Much like Henry, who was a vertical complement to Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh in the late 2000s, Bryant could serve in a similar role to Boldin and Crabtree. ... Other Day 2 options for San Francisco could include Kelvin Benjamin (should he fall), Vanderbilt's Jordan Matthews and Rutgers' Brandon Coleman, who currently sits with a fringe Day 2 grade."
