those delay of game penalties the last few years were some of the most frustrating **** I've ever seen :smh:

logic would say that getting kaep to the line sooner would allow him to make better pre-snap reads. cringe every time I remember him calling audibles or screaming "kill kill kill" with 3 seconds left.

speaking of which, wasn't that supposedly the underlying issue with Kaep in the playclock? I remember reading something saying that Kaep didn't know enough of the playbook, so Roman had to call in two separate plays into the huddle...I might be wrong, for the sake of the season, i hope i am.

That's 100% wrong and I explained it somewhere in this thread. The multiple plays part is by design. The colts run harbaugh's offense, and you'll hear Andrew luck calling out "kill" at the line as well.

Btw that doesn't even make sense. Why would more plays be called in if someone didn't know the playbook? If anything you call less plays to cause less confusion.

I'm excited to see this front 7 this year. I have high hopes for nick moody! Dude is quick!

I think we'll surprise some people this year. I can see us still being VERY competitive in the NFC.

quinton dial has been the most noticeable player on defense. dude has become a wrecking ball out there.

6'6 320lbs and nobody is talking about him?
sick.gif
our whole defensive line consists of freaks with dial, okoye, armstead, lynch and aldon. the coaches need to continue emphasize getting those hands up in those passing lanes.

btw i have no faith in nick moody. the guy has zero LB instincts, awareness or play recognition. i saw him flow to the wrong gap way too many times. not to mention he has horrible tackling fundamentals. basically everything borland was good at moody sucks at.

How come ive been reading good things about Moody then? Is he excelling in other areas? I havent been following too closely yet because ive been very busy but I could have sworn I read someone praising him yesterday.

Yuppp... Tomsula said he wants to break huddles with 23+ seconds left
mean.gif

I feel like we have the personnel to run a fast tempo offense... But at that means that the defense can also be on the field a lot depending on how the offense does
not sure how much i like that but at least we won't be getting a delay of game on Kaep on 3rd down.

good lookin out red80 red80 . I just recall reading that on a handful of online articles last season. With there being a lot of folks saying that Tomsula is emphasizing getting out of huddles sooner, I expect this to be a non-issue

Yea lately I've been seeing a lot of praise for Moody... Even Dockett was bigging him up

I didn't even know Wilhoite was injured, must be why we hearing all about Moody

That kinda confirms what we all sort of knew. Andrew Luck is a leader, Kaepernick __________. Fill in the blank.

Hopefully this year he disregards off the field heckling. Hopefully.

99% of QBs that have ever played in the NFL can't do what Andrew Luck can, so Frank isn't really taking any shots.

i doubt Frank is taking shots at kaep.. whatever the case is, i hope to see some swing passes to reggie out there back field. will keep LBs honest and open up the middle for that toilet paper soft guy we call our tightend.

speaking of which, Baalke said retaining VD and Aldon are of utmost priority

Earlier today we had some discussion about comments Frank Gore made regarding Andrew Luck's command of the huddle. It seemed to dismiss how Colin Kaepernick and Alex Smith led the huddle, but now we have some clarification on the issue.

Kap met with the media on Wednesday, and had a chance to discuss play-calling in the huddle. The San Francisco 49ers have switched up play-calling so that it goes from Geep Chryst to Steve Logan to Colin Kaepernick. Previously it went through Jim Harbaugh. According to the beat writers (Maiocco, Inman), in years past, Jim Harbaugh would get into the huddle to give the play calls in practice. Obviously he could not do that on game-day, but it removed much of the opportunity for Kap to establish the huddle as "his" place.

Kap said on Wednesday that he is providing the play-calls in the huddle this year. Logan radios them in, and then Kap makes the call. He would not get into specifics on the mechanics of it, but this is a change from year's past. In discussing it, Kap said, "It allows the players to have confidence in hearing your voice and you're the one who's going to be giving them direction on the field. It's something that every quarterback should have the ability to do."
