The team didn't bail from Candlestick. That place was old and beat the **** up. Yeah it was home, and it had that history but whether or not the team needed a new stadium is not really debatable.

The City of SF also did all they could to alienate the team. Newsome made it extremely difficult, almost impossible to build a new stadium inside the city. Moving the team to Santa Clara was basically the only realistic option after they tried in SF. The team even had to sue the city because they weren't paying to maintain Candlestick. San Francisco's local government is to blame for the move to the south bay.
