The Oakland Athletics 2018 Offseason Season Thread | One and Done Again

Wholeheartedly disagree with this.  It is absolutely unfair for the division winners to have to sit around and wait for a week while the wildcard series happens.  Baseball is a game of timing, and having the division winners sit around for a week would not be fair to them.

i see a 4 day layoff for division winners. start the 3 game series the day right after the last day of the season (all played at first WC's stadium). day of travel for winner of the wc series and then start the divisional round. im sure some managers wouldn't mind letting their starting rotation get 4 days of rest on those arms

been wanting this even before last nite's results. lends itself to be a good series.

is it me or did the A's clubhouse seem to have no camaraderie this season? long gone are the days where these dudes made ridiculous A's commercials, something i had grown to appreciate

^My favorite was the one where they were jumping on the bed with Stomper.

Norris got walked on! Ray Charles would have a better chance at throwing a guy out then Norris!

Can't throw a guy out on a pitch out I'm not going to dwell on it I just keep telling myself I'm getting $3000 for the losing (won't use my postseason tix)

In a few weeks I'll be itching for next season to begin also if anyone wants to plan a trip to Nashville to watch some aaa ball let me know I'm thinking May so I can shoot down to the gulf and get some fishing in as well

I am sorry but this is not possible.  Its just not.  What if there needs to be a tiebreaker game the day after the season ends?  Major League Baseball would not start a playoff series the day after.  Period.

Realistically, a Wildcard series AT BEST could not start until 2 days after the regular season ends.  Then lets say you play two games in two consecutive days to start the series.  We are now at a 4 day layoff for the Division Champions.  I completely disagree with your idea that all three games should be played at WC#1's stadium.  How is that fair?!?  So assuming I am right that your idea would NEVER happen, you now need one travel day in between game 2 and 3.  So you add the travel day and game 3, we are now at 6 days.  Then you add a travel day before the Division Series starts and the Division Champions would have an EIGHT day layoff.

I feel for your loss bro.  I really do.  But what you are proposing is not feasible.  And if they were to do what I just laid out for you, it would be completely unfair to the Division Champs.  8 day layoff?  Sorry that would never happen.

Either get rid of the second wildcard, or the format is here to stay.

Trade everybody. **** this team. Norris is the ultimate bum. It was only fitting that we choked that game away. I can only laugh looking back at it. We would never in a million years would have heart a resilience to come back 7-3 in the most important game of the season. Just comical stuff

Can't field 6 first basemen and it appears that they're sticking with the Parrino Punto ss combo smh

Absolute underwhelming and unnecessary trade. Anyone disagree? Just a rough last 3 months to be an A's fan. Appalled.

Dude who broke Dunn storu says shark is south city bound.

Aware of the atl rumor as well

Midas whale scrap the squad and redo 07-11 now

The fans that have been around know this is how they do things I can't imagine that it was a shock

Thoughts on:

Shark to White Sox in a deal involving Tim Anderson and/or Alexei Ramirez?

Shark for Cespedes if Red Sox cant land Lester or Hamels? (seems kinda silly but hey, it's possible)

Wouldnt mind Upton and Gattis on the A's but looks like we won't be trading with Atlanta

Atl deal would be nice but I'm sure billy wants a prospect

Boston deal as it stands is not a deal I would want add a prospect

Chi deal needs both of them and one more player and I'm in all the way

Best deal would be to wait til the big names are off the market then wait for the offers to pour in

Gordon Beckham non tendered by Angels

Good upgrade at 2B if A's go for him?

Decided to update the title of this thread and change the original post. I figure it's best to just keep the same thread going rather than make a new one each season. Hope you all feel the same.

if pomeranz, Parker and Griffin can return next season (bit iffy on how they'll come back) then trading shark for Cespedes works for me. both are in the final year of their contracts, right? if so, they're as good as gone anyways after the season is over. with donaldson out and murmurs of B. Moss possibly next, my goodness, we'll have a man on base every 4 to 5 innings.

That might be an upgrade considering the offensive production the last two months of the season (one hit per 4 innings) moss did nothing from June 15th on and is trash in the field
