New Nike.com System - Picture Captcha/Access Codes

Sooo does that mean it's like a mass raffle system...?
Pretty much has to be. They aren't going to just randomly email certain customers access codes for specific releases unless you sign up to try and get one. This is great news though. At least now you'll know ahead of time to avoid NDC and pursue other channels or know you have a good (maybe even guaranteed) chance of obtaining a pair. I think the bigger question is whether they will distribute exact numbers of access codes per release, or more than they have where there is still some competition for pairs. I think the former would be better than the latter, and anything of not so high demand will naturally open itself up to purchases from non-access code holders.

Pretty much like finishline's draft day raffle with 11's. Instead of picking the shoe up in store, you just purchase online. Sounds more fair than the twitter link only which 99% of bots get.

Thank goodness. The last year has been frustrating for Non-bot customers. The only benefit was money saved.

This was much needed, for things were getting worse by each RD. To glitch out NDC and TwTR?! What are you guys running?

guys its not a all encompassing new system. the codes will be given to select customers to give those people an opportunity to purchase, but thats only for a select number of the pairs set to release.95% of pairs for the release will still go the same way they have been

select customers?

dumbest thing ever if true
Not the dumbest thing ever. Quite the opposite. It's clear they are going to do raffles online to determine who gets access codes. It's also likely that access codes are not used by all users, thus tier 1 of a release is only for access code holders, tier 2 is open to all with whatever remaining inventory is left. Yep, some people will not be able to cop on NDC on release day. But it's quite fair if everyone with an NDC account has an equal opportunity to obtain an access code for a given release.

i only buy from NDC

how is that fair that i might get a chance that grants me another chance to get the shoes?

that doesnt make sense.

if anything, they should send everyone with a NDC account an access code.

I see this move as a way to combat the bots
Obviously. What I'm curious about is whether they give out more codes than pairs, which might make a modified bot/atc service still viable on a smaller scale. i.e. there's 10k codes given, but only 7,500 pairs available. You provide your code to the service and they take care of getting it into your cart.

In that scenario the bot/atc service has a much smaller pool of people to work from, has to gather codes that are actually real and valid, etc. However, I have a feeling there is additional security that may prevent a server from applying codes for multiple users at once. Point being, Nike needs to do a Tier 1 release with equal codes to the number of pairs being sold, or these services will still have SOME functionality.

I think it makes sense though. Take a HUGE GR like the Infrared VI's last week. Tons of people gets a code but not everyone uses it. After the code-only purchase period ends, it becomes an "open release". Only what do bots stand to gain in that situation if they are limited to inventory left over on GR's? Not a whole lot. They aren't high demand. High demand releases would probably see every code holder use their code, or at least so many that those extra pairs only become available to all during a restock, especially if we're assuming they aren't canceling those pairs sold via access code.

Clearly the amount of time, effort and money to spot shady purchases is costing Nike money and just a headache for them to deal with. This may be a move to help their customers, but I feel like it's more about limiting how much work they have to do cause of these scumbag profiteers.

You indicate interest in the release, and you have a fair chance of receiving a code like everyone else. You're not going to get a code for every release, but you'll probably do better % wise than you do right now unless you're using bots (in which case, you're complaining about bots being shut down lol). But boo hoo, you have to use other retailers if you don't get a code. You can still plan to go somewhere else in person or try other sites. You're prepared rather than putting all your eggs in the NDC basket. Don't act like you can "only" buy from NDC though. Sounds whiney as hell.

Whatever the case may be, Nike is acknowledging that there is a problem. If this is the fix, who knows?

This is definitely BS, I was just starting to get releases botless too, got all the Preludes except 1's and Bred 1's, missed out on the yeezys though. This sucks. What they shouldve done is just announced the code on their twitter and you have to enter the code to access the page, this is stupid, now it doesn't even matter how fast you are or how fast your internet is. Just based on LUCK

Oh boy, I can see this not ending well..
Why not? Finish Line's raffle works well. So does Sheik's. Having the system automatically choose winners is way better than the current shady RSVP process (bots and all of that excluded). No human element. Completely fair. Some win, some lose every week, but it's no longer being gamed by who has access to technology that gives them an advantage. Best move from Nike in some time.

Haha, want some cheese and a violin to go along with your whine? "It's not fair cause it's now fair and it doesn't matter how 'skilled' you are at releases."

dude, stop defending the stupid system. how is it fair to those who only use NDC?

i could careless about limited releases since they are a crapshoot regardless.

oh wait, im whiny as hell because i prefer to use NDC then other sites. :rolleyes :rolleyes :rolleyes :rolleyes

Facts:

1. Nike's product demand will never be met with supply.
2. The current system is completely unfair to those who can't build a bot or pay for a bot. It's also against Nike's rules to use a bot and you risk being banned as a customer.
3. Raffling off available product is fair to EVERYONE.

You complaining cause you only want to use a flawed system is borderline tard status. And yep, I'm defending them taking steps to give everyone an even shot at products.

Good for Nike if they actually implement this in the near future. At least they are trying to fix their issues. This is like step 1 in a 12 step plan though.

If you put money into your internet you could get the releases, if you used TweetDeck youd have a higher chance, if you could click your size faster and Add To Cart then youre good, all you have to do is not be slow and not have dinosaur **** for technology. So yes I am whining but if you actually put money into your technology and know the site then youll be fine, most bot users arent even the problem anymore idiot. Its all the early links

the system is flawed? sure but how is it giving everyone a chance?

if they implement this stupid system for the concord lows ill be pissed.

because thats my last purchase til the Columbias. after that, screw nike and jb

Let the ignorance flow. I'm done commenting on this and debating it with people whose idea of "fair" is "do better" (than machines). Morons.

New system is still flawed, dudes are going to make 100 nike accounts in different sizes and hustle codes.

Go check the lebron 2k14 thread to see what its going to be like.

Or are they? What if they are just drumming up another way to create hype? Now there will be access code hype. People will be peddling "guaranteed retail pairs" left and right with these access codes for a profit. What's to stop resellers from getting an access code? Not to mention an even lower chance of getting a pair on RD if you struck out on codes.
