whether or not you like their music/artists

starting independently and being consistently successful

when many of us probably didn't think they'd still be around now

how do you see it?

A label that was once a mainstream heavyweight is now a mainstream heavyweight joke.

At this point statistically there are the most successful independent hip hop label in the history of the game.

Top 10. They haven't put out a dope album since all the talent left. From those early BG albums up until Juvenile's Project English. 97-01 were serious :x

Juve the Great was their last great album. Hot Boys' Let Em Burn was cool. The last couple of Big Tymers albums were straight.

Putting them in the same breath as Def Jam or Motown is a joke.

With that said, not trying to "rank" labels, but they deserve nothing but the utmost respect for how they developed their company locally, took it nationally, negotiated an unprecedented deal with Universal and are still putting in work today.

Just out of curiosity, how do people perceive Young Money when it comes to Cash Money?

Do you look at Drake/Nicki as part of Cash Money's legacy?

You have to . . . what else is keeping them relevant other than Wayne

Ehhhhh....I consider Cash Money to be what it was known as, and everything else is just Young Money. Even the thought of having Rich Gang, Carter IV, and Lil' Twist singles in the same breath as Cash Money Is an Army, 400 Degreez, and How U Luv That has me disgusted.

First off Def Jam is on a whole different level. You can't put these other labels in a category with 'em.

Death Row
The Roc
Cash Money/Young Money
Rap A Lot

To me.

Baby and Slim are still running the show so I do consider this new roster as of their legacy. Yeah they've been putting out some trash but it's still under the Cash Money umbrella.

Y'all gotta just take it all as Cash Money IMO because without Baby and Slim starting what they did none of this would be possible. I get what y'all saying because I love the hell out of 400 Degreez and Classic **** talking Baby and lord knows Wayne at his best is one of my Favorite rappers ever. Like up there with Pac and Andre. BUT y'all can't deny Nicki and Drake and this new wave are a result of the classic stuff we love.

This guy made back dat *** up a rnb simp anthem, I don't count that ****

Just as prominent as Def Jam and Roc-a-fella/Roc Nation. Their legendary status is cemented.

This + dope that they started independently and have survived for 20+ years

Yeah man.

Cash Money is this generations Motown

Agreed.

No doubt about it.

I can rock with that.

You should still slap yourself if you're mentioning Cash Money and Def Jam in the same breath.

It actually speaks volumes in regards to how little many of you know about how epic and important Def Jam was.
