NEW YORK METS 2016 SEASON THREAD

Addison Reed has been fantastic since the trade. His slider is so effective.

That's why I strongly dislike the Marlins. They've always been doing this against us when they are one of the worst baseball teams in the league.

That was an awful at bat by Travis. Then again the lineup has no Wright, Travis or Duda for today. Offense looked bad vs a bad Marlins team, should've won all three of the games.

Clippard won't be available tomorrow after pitching two innings today.

Mets just have to avoid getting swept at this point, need to win or sweep the Nats as they have done the past few series, then on to face an awful Braves team for four games afterwards.

They have to win the series in Washington. Them losing three out of the last three of four to the worst teams in the league makes it imperative.

I expect 4-5 ER from Neise tomorrow regardless of who the opponent is tomorrow to be honest.

Nats are an awful team, but the Mets just hit a lull in Miami. Mets have bounced back all year however, so I'll give them that.

Just have to focus on winning each series.

You’ve heard about the 180-185 innings cap. That seems to be the number that will allow me to pitch into the postseason. Regardless of those numbers, I hope everyone knows: I have always wanted to play. I have always wanted to pitch every single chance I get.

Especially in the playoffs.

Right now we’re hunkered down in a fight to make the postseason. All of our efforts are focused on that task. As a team, we understand that there’s still a lot of baseball left to play. The chance to make a run in the playoffs will require our full dedication, energy and passion. This is an incredibly exciting time to be part of the Mets.

As an athlete, when your surgeon explains to you the risks of exceeding a certain number of innings, it can be alarming. You listen. I love to play baseball and I love winning even more. I would not give that up for anything. I also know I want to be able to play and win for a long time. But there has never been a doubt in my mind: I will pitch in the playoffs. I will be healthy, active and ready to go.

I am communicating with my agent, my doctor, Sandy and the entire Mets organization. I can assure everyone that we’re all on the same page.

Together, we are coming up with a plan to reach an innings limit during the season. It will be a compromise between the doctors and the Mets organization to get me, and the team, to where we need to be for our postseason run.

I understand the risks. I am also fully aware of the opportunity the Mets have this postseason. Winning the division and getting to the playoffs is our goal.

Once we are there, I will be there.

I guess he's pitching after all

This series in Miami was a total letdown.     Regardless of what happens in DC,  a crap 4 game series in Atlanta cannot happen. The Nats swept those bums 4 straight.  The Mets need to do the same or at the very worst 3 of 4. But sweep should be the goal. Same with the Marlins series at home afterwards.   13 games against crap teams sammiched in between the 3 game set in DC and off to a 1-2 start.  Flat out unacceptable.

Obviously taking 2 of 3 or sweeping in DC would be ideal, but they can't get swept in this series. If somehow they only win 1 game they're still 3 up and the Nats only gained a game. If they get swept they're only 1 up. I honestly don't expect much out of Niese tomorrow but I expect Harvey and deGrom to rise to the occasion this week.

Regarding Harvey, that statement is cool and all but I doubt that's the end of this.  I cooled off on the idea of trading him though regardless of how this season plays out in regards to the innings limit.

I realized its best to just keep him unless they get an offer which SIGNIFICANTLY improves the Mets. You don't make trades off of anger and emotion.

Harvey may have diva tendencies, but he's still a great pitcher at the end of the day. He's also under contract on a team-friendly deal for the next three seasons. The Mets are going to get his best effort because he's playing for a megadeal be it with the Mets or elsewhere. If the Wilpons penny pinch and he leaves after 2018 or the writings on the wall during the 2018 season that he's leaving, you trade him before the deadline.

But if the Wilpons do penny pinch, it will set a bad precedent as the Mets are going to eventually cross this same bridge with deGrom, Noah, and Matz at some point where they're going to have to pay these guys. Just because you haven't heard anything public like the Boras Harvey nonsense with any of those guys. I'm sure all three will be about their money when the time comes and understandably so.

But for right now, you got three more seasons of likely quality seasons from Matt Harvey at a low cost. It is foolish to trade him for likely 40 cents on the dollar.

i'm glad Harvey showed a willingness to pitch in the postseason. however, i wish he didn't do this as damage control and genuinely made this statement yesterday.

There's no way he pitches in October if the Mets make it. If being the key word. They were playing well until Niese had his patented meltdown. You just knew it was coming.

big win today

I expect 4-5 ER from Neise tomorrow.

Same old Neise at this point, tired of it, mental ******.

Nice to see the bats come to life.

5 of 6 vs the Nats, keep it up with Harvey tomorrow.

Conforto seems to be the real deal. :smokin

Although it was terribly handled, I had no doubt harvey woukd pitch if they make the playoffs. It is a business after all and I just think he followed bad advice by taking the stance he initially took
