If all players on current NBA teams were in their primes, who would be best?

Greg Oden never had a prime. Dallas beat almost prime LBJ, Wade, and Bosh in 2011.

It's the Nets and Lakers. 06 Kobe and Nash. 2009-10 Pau and it'll probably go 7 games.

Yep thats the whole reason why the Heat are so great recently because they have 3 great players in their prime

Having a prime Battier or Haslem isn't going to make them that much better

I know this thread specifically addresses current rosters, but it made me think. Would any historical NBA team hold a candle to the 2003 Lakers? The experiment obviously failed but then again, Malone and "Glove" weren't in their primes.

Kobe, Shaq, Payton, Malone, Fox, Fisher, Horace Grant, Bryon Russell.

Anybody that says the heat are still in their prime obviously didn't watch Wade in 08

Also prime Nash and Kobe isn't really as good a fit as some of you think.

honestly for that laker team to work i think i would prefer frobe over prime kobe.  frobe often guarded pg's and was more of a slasher back then

Last year's Lakers squad washes everybody.

Nash
Kobe
Ron
Pau
Dwight

The Heat are a couple breaks away from losing to some geezers last season. Forgive me if prime Shane Battier, or Rashard Lewis don't have me quaking.

I don't know if that squad is better than a lineup of Payton, Kobe, Fox, Malone, Shaq. SF is the major weakness you can pick out, but Shaq is a level above D12 and I value "Glove's" defense over Nash's passing wizardry.

You just mentioned those "geezers" in regards to the Heat. Did you not even read what you posted?

What does them blanking LA have to do with the discussion. I was saying a Prime Bron and Bosh and semi-serviceable Wade were a rebound away from losing last season to past their prime Spurs so what would make Miami so formidable?

Just taking the top 6 players from those squads:

Spurs (2012-2013): 2002 Duncan, 2007 Parker, 2005 Ginobli, 2003 McGrady, 2012 Kawhi, 2006 Diaw

Lakers (2012-2013): 2006 Kobe, 2006 Nash, 2009 Dwight, 2010 Pau, 2005 Artest, 2008 Jamison

Heat (2012-2013): 2013 Bron, 2009 Wade, 2009 Bosh, 2007 Allen, 2007 Rashard, 2002 Shane

Nets (2013-2014): 2004 KG, 2006 PP, 2011 Deron, 2007 JJ, 2011 Brook, 2004 AK-47

That list easily goes: Nets, Lakers, Spurs, Heat

wasn't prime Kobe a Perkins injury away from losing his second straight finals to the celtics.

how you gonna include 03 tmac with an already proven championship team and still think the hypothetical nets and lakers would be better.  i don't actually want u to answer this for your own sake

Is your SN gonna have to be DoofusMVP from here on out? You're the one who mentioned them like that first, so how am I trolling and how is that not relevant to the topic?

1) Kobe wasn't in his prime in 2010

2) KG and PP have championship credentials as well. T-Mac and the combo of JJ/D-Will would probably cancel out. And Spurs don't have much depth after those 4 guys.

3) Peep Game Peep Game I said they were old geezers to illustrate the fact that they at past their prime were a rebound or made free throw away from beating Bron and Bosh in their prime last year. You had to mention LA getting beat last season to take a dig at the Lakers like you always do. You're obsessed. Them beating LA with no Kobe, Nash and injuried Dwight had nothing to do with them beating Miami that had Bron at his best, Bosh at about his best, and serviceable Wade as I said before..

1. prime tmac cancels out whatever kobe u want and at that point I'm taking the proven supporting cast over the one that only plays one half of the sport (aside from ron)

2. the jj/pp combo is what holds back the nets.  neither would play to their full capability having to take turns.  don't mention wade/lebron because they are both better at playing off the ball, more athletic overall and on another level altogether.

It's almost the middle of March and those geezers are in 1st place again. I'm surprised there are still people who don't respect the Spurs. Nothing these geezers do is a fluke. They are that good at basketball.

imo it would be 1.lakers/heat (about even) 3. spurs 4. nets

but the nets would be 3rd if their coach suited up

Got this idea from an ESPN article a while back. Hypothetically speaking of course, if all players on current NBA teams were healthy and in their primes who do you think would win the championship this year? Below are notable teams with their most notable players. Remember, all would be in their primes.

Heat: Wade, Lebron, Bosh, Rayray

Knicks: Melo, Chandler, STAT, JRSmith

Lakers: Kobe, Nash, Pau

Nets: DWill, Pierce, KG, Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez

Mavs: Dirk, Vinsanity, Monta

Pacers: PG, Lance, Roy Hibbert, DWest

Bulls: DRose, Boozer, Noah

OKC: Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka

Rockets: D12, Harden, Lin

Spurs: Tony Parker, Timmy, Ginobili

Clips: CP3, Griffin, Deandre Jordan, Danny Granger

Other?

How would they rank?
  • notable players

  • jeremy lin

pick one.

Hey now, be nice
