I'm pretty sure Richard let Piper chat use the algorithm. Like an unpaid lease. He's not giving it to Hooli.
 
Didn't Richard license the algorithm to Piper Chat? Meaning Hooli wouldn't own it therefore they would have to pay Richard to use it?
