Have been out of the US for 8 months...some observations.

1a. It's true. In general Americans are damn big. In a bad way.

1b.Which brings me here. Just by being fit/not huge, women are way more attractive

2a. The US is ultra competitive on every level. In some ways it's great; competition among businesses. In some ways bad; competition among peers.

2b. Which leads to a culture of pretentiousness/ narcissism. As a result of the intense competition, everybody thinks they have to pretend they're doing better than they actually are. Why do you think Facebook/Instagram do so well?

2c. We really do put too much stock into what someone does for a living. The first question when two people meet is always, " What do you do?" Why? Does it really matter? As long as a person is able to stay alive, who cares?

3. Food in the US is plain horrible outside of specialty stores/restaurants. Most people, can't cook worth a damn in the states.

4. Customer Service is amazing in the US; even what we would consider "horrible" is still way ahead of most of what the world has to deal with.

5a. We really do get the best prices for pretty much everything in the States, except for fruits and vegetables (even then pricing is not bad).

5b. What do you think about a Mazda 3 priced at 50k USD? lol Or an Iphone/Galaxy at $1k?

5c. Meat really is dirt cheap in the States? The quality? Not much different from the rest of the world?

6.There is no such thing as "family" in the States. Visiting your family once or twice a year doesn't count. On the other hand this is a by-product of the physical distances between families for some portion of the population. In geenral, family is

7. Outside of NYC, Americans generally are fake in their face to face interactions. It's just "not nice" not to be nice to someone's face even if they deserve it. This is true for most of the "Western" world.

7b. Showing your true feelings is held against you in the States.

7c. Being honest is held against you as well.

8. Americans really don't travel much around the world. However, it's not because we don't want to but because there are plenty of existential factors. Flights are long and expensive. Getting time off from work is more difficult (in general). Customer service in much of the rest of the world sucks (we don't like to deal with it).

9. Is the US the best place in the world? Depends. If you make a good living ( > 60k single, > 75K couple, >90k with a kid or 2), the US is genuinely the best place in the world. If you don't, there might be better places out there. Especially for the working poor.

10a. Houses in the US are built like doo-doo and look like doo-doo (especially the interior). However, they're dirt cheap to construct (as a result of wood) and cheap to buy.

10b. Most homeowners in the US really don't take too much pride in their house. They're very practical about it as just a place to live. Which in my opinion isn't bad.

I'm sure  there's points I'm missing but I can't think of them now. Ask away if interested.

Was suprised reading initially then i saw who OP was

Intresting perspective. Good read

I concur with most of this. If i had any balls id pick up n move to kauai (almost like a dif country) or belize. If i outlive my family (doubtful) im out.

given the title of this thread i honestly thought it would be worse. Not bad observations OP.

To add to your first point. Everything is big in america. In london houses are small as hell. Like if you are 6 foot you are ducking through door ways. All the flats are like 10x10 boxes people live in....and pay $1800 USD to live in  In that sense...i love america

Where did you go?
Israel. This country really is a mix of Europe and the Middle East. European governance with a Middle Eastern culture/ outlook on life (in most parts of the country).
America ain't so bad then.......
Not bad at all. I should be heading back in a few months. Overall, the US is a great country but it's not perfect and just like anything in life, it's all about fit. On the other hand, the huge divide that there used to be between the US and the rest of the world is definitely not there anymore. Due to globalization of production/trade and the internet, standards of living across the world are tightening toward a median across most of the world.
11a. Surrender your freedom by leaving the US.
Eh, honestly I feel like I have more freedom here. Especially in day to day dealings. The police stay out of people's way for the most part. I can walk the streets of 95% of cities in this country at 2 a.m. alone and not be afraid.

Kids run loose on the streets here. Child abductors and kidnappings are virtually non-existent. So aren't mass shootings.

Conformity isn't a trait valued here either. You can act as stupid or as weird as you want. Not that most people act stupid or weird. Although, expressing anger in public or in general ( a middle eastern trait lol) isn't held against anyone here (as it is in most Western culture).

There are a few rockets from the Gaza strip from time to time ( 99% don't hit anything or are shot down) but no one's really afraid unless there are hundreds fired at cities per day.
Nice generalizations...
Life is all about generalizations. There are exceptions to everything but in general, generalizations hold true.

What did you think from a first hand perspective about how Israel treats the native and Muslim population or anything not Jewish(black Jewish excluded). From what I've seen its just bad in alot of ways.

Yeah. I'd like to hear about this too. Wonder if he even encountered it.

For the purposes of this argument we have to distinguish between Arabs and non-Jews.

Most Arabs in Israel live in their own villages/towns and are really not integrated into Israeli society. Haifa ( the 3rd largest Israeli city) has a significant Arab population (about 20%) that is integrated into the city by Israeli standards. On the other hand, Israeli Arabs aren't keen on mixing with Israeli Jews.

Israel is a Jewish state and it definitely shows everywhere. However, non-Jews are integrated into Israeli society but they do face a few obstacles. Marriage (and divorce) is controlled by the rabbinate so non Jews technically can;t get married in Israel.   Most go to Cyprus to get married and then their civil marriage in Cyprus is recognized by the Israeli government. . Also, when it comes to marriage, most Israeli Jews will not marry non-Jews. However, in day to day dealings or friendly relations, Israeli Jews don't really care if someone is Jewish or not. Most Israeli Jews aren't religiously observant at all.

Arabs are definitely way more discriminated against than non-Jews. They just aren't integrated into Israeli society for the most part. I don't think that solely Israel is responsible for this. A lot of the Arab population simply doesn't want to integrate into a Jewish society and it's understandable.

I think there's a few too many generalization of the united states - especially as soon as you went "outside of NYC".

I've traveled a bit and really do enjoy Europe. I agree with some of your points, especially the cost of certain items and the customer service experience.

i've lived in 4 countries and visited multiple but theres still nothing like being American......everywhere you go there will be instant hate and you just feel :smokin

First things first, **** Israel

But I agree with you about the customer service. In Sudan, there is no such thing as customer service unless your going to a really upscale shopping center.

Also the whole Americans are fake to your face ********, its that way in every country in the world. The generalizations about Americans come off as self hating to me

Yeh, I've heard about London. Beautiful city though. Houses/ apartments here are pretty big. Probably has to do with large families. People try to have at least 3 kids.  "Be fruitful and multiply"

Smh

Dont bag on mycountry

Ppl all around the work wake up wishing they could be in the usa
I'm not bagging. The US is just as much my country as yours. No country is perfect.

I know plenty of people here that like the US but really don't want to move. Why would they?

I'm going back to the US (family's all in the US

C'mon Lazy, which one of my generalizations isn't true ( as a generalization)? I'm not applying it to 100% of the US population but a significant amount (let's say 50%+).

I like Europe too but it's only similar to Israel in that they share similar forms of governance and societal/ economic structure. Culturally, they're different. Especially the cities populated by Mizrahi/Sephardi Jews. They're wild.

No hate here for Americans. People love us here.People also love their country here (even if they ***** about it all the time ).

That's definitely not true here. Maybe it's an Eastern culture thing. If someone doesn't like you, you'll know it. Israeli's pride themselves on talking straight and for the most part they do.

They call it "dugri" here. First google search link I got: http://www.yorksj.ac.uk/pdf/Dugri Talk.pdf

People are pretty straight up in NYC ( prob as a result of being a heavy immigrant city) but here it's way worse.
