Am I the only one who doesn't wear wife beaters?

I thought it was called white beater too^^^ but going through the thread someone said an actor wore one all the time when he used to beat his wife so the term got coined that.

I usually wear one in the summer to help with sweat since I sweat a lot and the shirt soaks it up, but a lot of times I just put on my shirt w/o anything under.

It's because police officers would always have domestic violence calls and whenever they would arrive at the scene the male was most likely wearing that form of tank top. They coined the term and now it's used in society. Just like the term 420 for weed.

I first heard this term my freshman year in college. My roommate used it and I was like whut? Never questioned him how it got the name, I just rocked with it.

But its not doe...

I rock beater to soak up light sweats.

Hell no I don't wear wife beaters. Joints are trash. My stomach and back don't sweat like that but my armpits do, so if I need something to catch sweat I'll rock an undershirt.

I used stay in wife beaters in middle school though. I thought I was something serious back then. I musta looked like an idiot.
