Eddie Huangs "fresh off the boat" ...new abc sitcom

This should be pretty good and will hopefully do well. Kinda groundbreaking, no? Huang seems like a cool dude from watching his Vice series.

Not sure how I feel about the show's name. I feel like it gives mainstream America a pass to call Asians fobs on some "but you guys say it". It's one thing if it's on Youtube but I fear you're gonna have a family in South Dakota flipping the channels and seeing "Fresh Off The Boat" and then getting more "ideas". When we (people of color) use these deragatory terms (even if it's spun in a positive way) I think White America loves that because they can put that bargaining chip in their pocket.

Yea

I like his fresh off the boat youtube series.
He seems to have a genuine love for sneakers too.

I love the youtube show & I love Eddie's hustle but that trailer was awful... It had no soul & felt forced... I'll check out the show to support it but I hope it's better than that trailer...

Looks good, American Asian families are under-represented on tv. I hope it's not lowest common denominator trite like sullivan and son. Tried to watch that once :x.

The show won't last more than 2 or 3 seasons, it seems like the asian version of the goldbergs but set in the 90's. I'll check out the first couple of episodes though.

Eddie Huang seems like a cool dude just from podcasts and his show.

Like the Asian kid who was runnin around with the black/spanish kids in high school.

Show looks corny.

I don't wanna sound racist.

But IN MY HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE there were the Asian kids who kind of stuck with the nerd crowd (all races of non-bush getting Phantasy Star Onlne ids), the Asian kids who were all about that White kid life, and the Asian kids who were about that blunts, broads, and basketball life.

Sorry if that sounds crazy, that was just my subjective experience.

Just like any race, there were different types of kids, and Eddie Huang seems like the type of kid who was into Dipset and rocking oversized jerseys like the rest of us in high school.

I didn't laugh at any parts in the trailer and I'm asian. I hate the fake forced asian english accents. This is going to be canceled after one season.

I agree, I doubt it makes it more then 8 episodes. Looks horrible and is begging for protests and think pieces and angry journalism

I'll support, Eddie. Been a fan of dude for a while. He's always seemed real and I feel he's a better representative of Asian-American youth than most others. Boy boy deserves the shine. :nthat:

I love this guy, read a little of his book, first heard him from the youtube series and then Joe rogan podcast.

He's a good guy from what I've read, wish him the best with this show

Edit- damn I thought this was eddie huang visiting places not a Chris rock type sitcom, I don't know how this will fair. Asians don't like when you perceive them in a negative light, they're worse than African American Associations when it comes to that sort of thing
