Eddie Huangs "fresh off the boat" ...new abc sitcom

I don't wanna sound racist.

But IN MY HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE there were the Asian kids who kind of stuck with the nerd crowd (all races of non-bush getting Phantasy Star Onlne ids), the Asian kids who were all about that White kid life, and the Asian kids who were about that blunts, broads, and basketball life.

Sorry if that sounds crazy, that was just my subjective experience.

Just like any race, there were different types of kids, and Eddie Huang seems like the type of kid who was into Dipset and rocking oversized jerseys like the rest of us in high school.

You nailed EH, and my own HS experience 100% :smokin

Canceled after six episodes, if it gets to that. Network television is an entirely different beast than cable or the Internet.

Soooo they were trying to be normal american kids? I don't understand what you think is so crazy about what you said?

I didn't laugh at any parts in the trailer and I'm asian. I hate the fake forced asian english accents. This is going to be canceled after one season.

I agree, I doubt it makes it more then 8 episodes. Looks horrible and is begging for protests and think pieces and angry journalism

forced Asian accents are always cringe-worthy. But that Asian market scene was pretty funny

I was the only Asian guy in my high school so I didn't have other Asians to hang with. I sorta just hung out with random groups.

So is that girl that protested Stephen Colbert going to protest this show? I need some outrage.

they got a better chance going netflix route or some other avenue
it's not gonna get the ratings, which the networks really care about

you would need a big time asian comedian (like a ken jeong)/actor to star to even draw in some kind of audience

I love seeing this guy eat (pun intended). Make that money fam. The wonder he had a going away party about a month ago. Didn't think he'd fit anywhere else aside from NY but if it is for a sitcom, then I guess I understand the move.

But......

Cancelled after one season......and yes, I am asian......and yes Margaret Cho did this already.......and yes, asian sitcoms do not fare well in American television.

Hey guise, I'm bouta say something wild but I think this show is going to get cancelled during the first season!

Looks ok.

The scene with bringing lunch to school.

The accent is horrible. Looked up the mom and can't believe she's born in 1988. Figured they'd go with an older woman.

The mom

Very surprised ABC picked this up. Seems like it will end being a waste of time and money spent on their end.

Love his vice series, dont know about this.

I came in here thinking I was gonna get an anthony bourdain typa show with all his shenanigans and quirks, but a sitcom tho? eehhhh

Loved the memoir it's based off but this show deserves to be raunchy and vulgar on a network like HBO, not watered down to a national audience :smh:

I'll check it out but this definitely won't last more than one season.

His vice videos are great though

He put me on to Jada Stevens :smokin
