First off why was he made the logo to begin with over Wilt Chamberlain or Bill Russell? He lost 9 times in the finals, can you image if a modern day player lost 9 finals :x

Second the fact jordan is considered the GOAT and still hasn't become the logo shows the racism all the great black players and they choose one of the few good white ones, they couldn't even switch to Larry Bird at least >D

Open your eyes people :nerd:

I'll call racism when I see it but this is a REACH

and the logo should never change imo......

This isn't racism, just stupidity

You were serious with this topic?

Most people don't even know he's the logo

Not really racist. But he isn't a top 10 player of all time. But I don't see a problem with it, and I'm black.

At everyone sitting around like this cause they don't wanna touch it.

This issue isn't going to be received well here. It's not racist but there are racial undertones. We can pretend there aren't but we all know our society does that painstakingly well.  There's a reason why the NBA's official stance is one of denial, that the logo is not Jerry West.

But lets be real OP in 1970's do you think a black man was going to be the face of a multimillion dollar enterprise run by white men?

Sidestepping the hyperbole of the thread title, it's really not a big deal. There are a million other things from that era that remain questionable to this day.

No one should even entertain the thought of changing the logo. It is what it is. It's not like the guy is a bum or just any other HOF player.

yeah you're right, I shouldn't have wasted my time making this thread because most NTers are whitewashed anyway

I know Jerry West isn't a bum but he doesn't deserve to be the logo over Wilt or Russell

yup and you're right, the nba always denies that it's Jerry West

and ofcourse a rising league in the 70s wouldn't use a black man as their logo smh

Jerry West just doesn't belong as the logo

The presentation of an argument with legitimate points can fall flat.

And then the point falls flat.

I wonder what his thoughts were on this.

I'd go ignorant maybe even stupid.

Things like this are why when real racism takes place people give it the side eye
