The delay is kind of unfair if it makes him miss training camp.

This is exactly the point I was trying to make.... The suspension it self doesn't bother me but the fact that he can't be in camp and pre-season next year is completely unfair to everyone.

Dude you fall for the bait on NT more than anyone I've ever seen. But I shouldn't be expecting much from someone who just joined this community 3 years ago.

I've been here since 06.. just my 2nd name.... I'm not trying to hear your crap right now.

That's my point. He deserves the ban he gets, but to drag it this long and by making it a calendar year long ban, preventing him from attending team practices and the 2015 training camp is literally the most unfair ruling I've ever seen come from the NFL.

Browns fans should be mad this ******* fool can't stay outta trouble and all the lights aren't lit upstairs. This is the same fool who fell asleep in a goddamn Taco Bell with weed in the car. The same guy who hasn't learned his lesson being suspended for the whole season at Baylor. I don't feel bad for him. You can't cure stupidity. You can't Dez Bryant every troubled player who comes into the league and has issues. At some point, a man has gotta be a man and buck up and realize he's ******* up his entire future for what? To get a little high?

Isn't the reason for the suspension announcement delay was because of Josh appealing the initial ruling?

That's what I thought as well. Where are you guys seeing that he'll miss camp next season? Or am I missing something there, does it go into effect today or when he was initially suspended?

You're arguing the wrong point here. He deserves a 16 game ban, but to prevent him from attending team practices along the way isn't going to help Josh Gordon become a better man. Hell, this may even worsening him.

Is this supposed to punish him or help him? I'm sick of this damn league treating those who deal substance abuse as criminals who need to be away from the league because they appear to be detrimental.

If you reduce his salary to living wage, grant him access to team practices and events, keeping him involved in team activities; that would be logical for someone who's had a history of repeating the same offense. Haven't they seen a what year long ban has done to him? NOTHING. He needs support and treatment to help him moving forward. Not to be pushed away into oblivion without having a chance to recuperate.

His year long ban announced today may vey well be the death sentence for him. He may never play another snap again, ever. If he does - it may be 2-3 years from now, which he may only be a shadow of what he was.

The bottom line is, the NFL isn't doing anything to help this man moving forward. Give him 16 games. But don't take away his opportunity to become better from this, and that's exactly what the NFL did.

He's only suspended for the 2014 season.

Y'all bickering over nothing

Per Rotoworld...

Josh Gordon - WR - Browns
Suspended WR Josh Gordon can apply for reinstatement at the end of the 2014 season.
It's technically just a season-long ban for Gordon, not a calendar-year suspension. It's a glimmer of good news. Gordon will be away from the Browns for roughly 5-6 months, as long as he keeps his nose clean. Gordon took and passed over 70 drug tests, but failed the one that led to this suspension by 0.01 nanograms per milliliter. Gordon's agent needs to surround him with good people while he's away from the game. He has a ton of football ahead of him.

I just never understood why if your suspending him from playing a full season, why keep him away from team as well? That isn't helping him one bit being banned from all tean activities. smh.

over ******* pot.

How many times does Gordon need to be helped?

If you failed 6 drug tests for your company would they give a flying **** if you got "clean"?

Dudes had the opportunity to make more money over the next few years than everyone posting on the last 5 pages of this thread combined... Hes throwing that away himself.

If I fail a drug test at my job, I don't get 5 more chances to make it right.

Josh Gordon is an idiot plan and simple

he will never learn and eventually he will be circling the CFL and Arena league circuits; it's time to grow up

Seahawk players stay posting videos and photos of themselves straight geeked. How some people can pass every time and others can't blows my mind. Gordon is obviously an idiot

really hope the league revamps their drug policies.

did they ever figure out what they were going to do with the irsay situation?

In the end, I think the NFL simply keeps him out for the year (16 games) and then reinstates him like in March/April.

That way he can go thru minicamps, training camp, preseason, etc.

All of that is provided, Josh stays clean for the next 8-9 months. No more failed tests, or arrests.

NFL doesn't care about "helping" anybody. It's a business and josh broke the rules a bunch of times. He's not making the NFL any money, so they don't care. It's up to him to help himself, it's tough but that's life.

There's a bunch of guys that can do what he does just waiting for a chance, NFL knows that.

when gordon gets nailed again in the next 6-9 months for something stupid, can't wait to here people blame the NFL and Roger for "letting" this happen

no one wants to take responsibility for their own actions these days. it's always someone else's responsibility or fault that **** went wrong
