 :smh:

Its very simple.

The NFL says you can't smoke while employed with us, then don't smoke.

Why should the NFL bend? It's a corporation like any other and if you want to work for them you have to follow the rules they ask of you.

And just cause a handful of states allow weed you really think the NFL should say **** it? Everyone smoke?

 :smh: y'all dudes.

exactly. we already know the league has way too many immature idiots who can't handle their **** (not just with drug abuse, talking life in general). and we think making it a free for all for them to smoke will help? GTHOH

Hypocrites? You taking it soo serious

Definitely hypocrites. Most in the discussion have admitted they drink, yet weed is somehow unreasonable to consume while employed. :rolleyes

Whole lot of you would fail a ETG test if given one at work tomorrow. A whole lot of you drink for the same reason a lot of people smoke. But no one drinks for the medicinal properties of alcohol (because there aren't very many). Whereas NFL players have wanted to be able to smoke because they want to safely recoup from a hard week or a punishing NFL season while bonding with their teammates.

It's hypocritical to criticize people who smoke responsibly when ya'll drink. Period.

dude I think you are slow or something; who cares if people drink? The topic is weed still being illegal in the majority of the country and the NFL bans it

why do you keep bringing up drinking vs. weed? I smoke weed time to time because it's around me but I also know my work doesn't care, if they did I wouldn't smoke weed.

All of this sounds like you are one of those fools that think drinking is the devil and are just butt hurt weed is still illegal

No point in posting more than just 1 liner about this topic. Weed is still illegal in most states and last time I checked playing in the NFL is still a job but what do I know

Again, medical marijuana is allowed in 22 states and D.C.; and more states are lobbying for decriminalization, medical use or outright legalization.

So that "illegal in most states" nonsense is moot. Most states are lobbying for legalization or decriminalization in one form or another. Stop throwing around fallacious nonsense. Fact is if you have a medical card your job cannot discriminate.

The NFL is really violating the personal liberties of a lot of these guys who just want to be able to enjoy the freedoms fellow tax-paying constituents of the state they play in/reside in enjoy.

Weed is illegal in most states, but the penalty for possession in most states is now far less than the penalties for DUIs, assaults, domestic abuse.

In the NFL it is the reverse.

there is a difference between being medically legal and being able to go smoke it wherever you choose fool

I don't think drinking is the devil per se. I think drinking is just usually done in an environment that leads to poor decision making. It's done in late hours, in crowded bars, where people are looking to prey on NFL players. It's done in volatile situations in other words.

if guys were just grabbing a six pack and heading back to the hotel room, no harm, no foul. But nobody does that because nobody bonds over a brew like that nowadays.

And I also think when it boils down to pure decision making, people intoxicated on marijuana vs being "intoxicated" on marijuana, the former party is more likely to make a tragic decision, and history supports that belief.

Your comparing alcohol to weed? Why?

You know for a fact these dudes hitting that loud for medical purposes?

You seem to be reaching just so you can prove your point.

Dude ABSOLUTELY guys are hitting the pack for medical purposes. It's why Goodell stated that the NFL would consider marijuana use for concussion treatment.

So it's definitely been brought up by players for that reason.

k, and what's your point with that statement? I'm saying that players in the NFL who reside in states that allow medicinal use, have it decriminalized or have outright legalized it should be able to use it.

You're stuck on Josh Gordon and I'm speaking in a broader sense.

in any case, in cleveland possession of less than 100 grams is only a citable offense, it's not even a criminal act.

this is how stupid the NFL policy is, punishing guys over something that's NOT ILLEGAL in the state they play in.

Man.

Josh works for the NFL and he's been in trouble how many times already?

It's as simple as if you want to be employeed for them, you have to follow these guide lines.

If you want to smoke loud? Fine, but you can't work for us.

Go play in the CFL / AFL / Etc..

oh yeah? than let's discuss Jim Irsay not yet having been disciplined by the NFL for his drug and DUI arrests.

It's all ******** policy. Don't talk about "following the guidelines" but then pick and choose who is and isn't liable.

NFL has a lot of ******** policies, the US has a lot of ******** laws, at days end we don't live in this country because we HAVE to follow unconstitutional policies. It's a democracy last time I checked and these players have rights. Rights being infringed by their employer.

Btw, in the case of Josh Gordon specifically it's clear dude has a problem and deserves repercussions for his behavior at this point,

Doesn't mean the NFL's policies shouldn't be reworked.

Agreed. Again I'm not speaking about Josh Gordon specifically, more in the broader sense.

In the case of Mr. Gordon, he needs to slow his roll.

All for the use of marijuana, but I believe in responsible usage.
