OFFICIAL 2014 FANTASY FOOTBALL THREAD

Just got my draft order and I have the last pick in the first round (12), i've never drafted last in all of my years playing fantasy.  What do you guys think are good picks with 12 and 13?  RB WR, WR RB, WR WR??
I would probably take the best available RB, and whoever is remaining among the DT, Dez, AJ Green group

My goal this season is to get out of my first two rounds with an RB, and an elite WR1
For keepers would you rather have McCoy and Demaryius, or Rodgers and Calvin?

We don't do it where you lose a certain round pick for a player.
I would absolutely take McCoy and DT. Calvin Johnson is my favorite player, and I like him over DT, but keeping McCoy would be priority number one for me.

If your boy is a big eagles fan, maybe try to get a little more out of him. Not sure what your rules are on trading draft picks.
Just picked up Josh Gordon in my keeper league. He went undrafted so I figured might as well give it a shot. You guys think there is any chance his suspension gets lowered?
I think he is going to get it lowered. perhaps even down to 8 games. If I were drafting today, I would definitely take him at some point, just on the remote chance that you can get anything out of him
Man more I research how TE are looking in training camp..zach ertz is looking to be this years steal of the draft. Kelly looks to use him at slot/starting TE and i have a feeling he kills in the redzone as well
I like him as an upside guy, but some sites (particularly CBS, and the guys on that podcast) are way overvaluing him IMO.

14.... :smh: :smh:

I just realized my abbreviation was MA instead of MAZ and it took me a few mins to realize what pick i have

What are the scoring settings?

In PPR i would go WR/WR unless Montee Ball falls to you
yeah its a 1 point per league. I'm going to go back to back wr most likely, unless there is a strong receiving rb there. Which there prob won't be. Thanks

Hey guys. I'm in a 12 team league and trying to determine how we should set our divisions. Should we do 2 divisions of 6 teams? 3 divisions of 4 teams? or 4 divisions of 3 teams?

And also how should the playoff format be? 4 teams or 6 teams (top 2 teams have byes)

Has anyone been in a league that did double headers?

Really want this league to be as fair as possible

Thanks

Thought about the same things as well, breh. Here's what I would lean towards...

2 divisions && 6 playoff teams (2 first round byes go to the division winners)

Or, if you want 3 divisions...6 playoff teams (2 byes, division winners get in, but records trump all, in terms of seeding)

I think this would probably be the fairest way; that way, winning the division means something, but so would winning 10 games && finishing 2nd in a tougher division, opposed to winning an easier division with 7 wins, for example.

Never done the double headers, so I'm not sure on that. But hopefully this helps a bit.

Thanks man

So would you prefer to re-seed once playoffs starts?

Yea, I kinda like the idea of playoff re-seeding in the 3 division setting. To me it gives the better teams an extra perk for doing well during the regular year, && makes things a bit more interesting too.

Bet

i'm thinking of doing 4 divisions of 3 teams to eliminate the possibility of playing a double header. Also it gives a chance for everyone to play each other at least once

What about kenny stills?
Players drafted near him that I prefer: Boykin, Wheaton, and Streater.

Thoughts on Lynch, TRich, Morris, and Gio this year?

In addition, since I have 7,20, and 21 overall picks. Should I go RB RB RB and later draft Roddy as my WR1?
Beast Mode is still the 5th or 6th best fantasy back available. He's tempting at #7 assuming Forte and Lacy are off the board. T-Rich is a bounce-back candidate, can be plugged into the Flex position with lessened risk.

Morris is a top-10 back selected in the same range as Bell and Ball. I personally rank Gio over Morris, which is unconventional. I believe that Cincy will increase Bernard's workload, but there remains concern over goal-line touches.

Roddy White is no longer a true WR1, more a top-notch WR2. I'd rather have Fitz if possible, but unlikely to happen if you select 3 RB's in a row.

So besides Graham is there a clear #2?

Usually isn't in NO
Since his rookie season, Colston has caught 70 or more balls in every season except one. He's played 8 years in New Orleans. Good hands, rarely drops catchable balls. Colston is 31 and has a moderately concerning injury history, but no Sproles around. After Jimmy, he's the best bet for Brees. Mr. Reliable.

After Colston is probably Stills. But who knows what Payton is thinking with Toon, Cooks, Meach, and Coleman in the fray.

Ok; your vote would tilt the majority in favor of standard, which is more than fine with me. But yea, Yahoo has already won the vote as the preferred site.
Aight that's cool; if Buc Em doesn't want in, spot's yours. At worst, I got you as first alternate my man.
Cool, LMK if you need me. I check PM's fairly often.

Your guys' thoughts on Rashad Jennings this year? If he stays healthy, I think he will get a TON of touches...with Wilson being done and Hillis being banged up.
Jennings should build off his solid year in Oakland last season. Wilson retiring (unfortunately) creates less competition and more touches for Jennings. I'm seeing him as a fringe top-20 back, and do prefer him to someone like Toby Gerhart but I wouldn't take either Jennings or Gerhart over Ray Rice or Lamar Miller per se.

Do you guys all have Demaryius as your #2 WR in a PPR?

I think I still like Dez and AJ more (possibly Bmarsh as well)
I do, especially with Deck gone. Who knows what running presence Ball will provide throughout the season with Moreno in Miami now. A.J. Green's situation is scary because of Andy Dalton. I know Green's nabbed 195 balls the last 2 seasons, but I really don't trust Red Rifle at the helm. Marshall is 30-years-old and maxed out on his potential. Meaning he presents reliability but far less upside than Dezzy or Green.

My ideal plan is to snipe Julio Jones after the initial early run on WR's. His career-high in receptions is 79 and he's coming off injury, but it's Jones' show now with Roddy taking a slight backseat as the second-best receiving option in Atlanta for Matty Ice.

Are Roddy White, Cooper and Maclin going to be viable WR2's?

I'm really just seeing where I should go with my picks being that my keepers are McCoy and Demaryius. What I've been thinking so far is go RB in the 3rd (Bell/Murray/Gio) then possibly Gronk in the 4th then WR in the 5th then Cutler/Rivers in the 6th.
Roddy is. Prior to last season, White caught 83 or more balls in 6 consecutive seasons. Peaking at 115 receptions in 2010. He's not the same player he was 4 years ago, but marching out Rivers, Shady, Gio, DT, Roddy, and Gronk is nothing to scoff at.

I'm really feeling a sophomoric-like slump for Foles. Cooper had a sick run in '13, but increased pressure and expectations with D-Jax gone. Can he be the man? I don't think so. Mac9 has trouble staying on the field. You can't invest too highly in someone who doesn't play frequently.

I remember this time last year Kembrell Thompkins hype was through he roof. I bought into the hype after his stellar preseason games and spent a 7th round pick on him :x

never again
Large majority bought into the Thompkins hype, we always have to remind ourselves to factor in value. When a certain player is drafted too high, it increases the risk and removes the sleeper potential.

Colts fast paced, no huddle offense is exciting fantasy wise
I'm targeting Luck in every league. Problem is, so is everybody else.

You'd go Gio over Bell, Murray and Stacy?

Also...Cam and Luck are being kept. There's six quarterbacks being kept in my 12 man league, leaving Stafford, Foles, Kaep, Wilson, Ryan, Brady, Romo, Rivers and Cutler as the best remaining quarterbacks.
I'd want Stafford, Brady, or Ryan out of that bunch, in relation to your draft plan.

For me: Gio, Bell, Stacy, Murray.

I'm in a standard 12 team two keeper league and all those RB's are available...that's what I meant by 3rd round.

Top 12 players available are Foster, Stacy, Murray, Bell, BMarsh, Jefferey, Bell, Gio, Julius, Antonio Brown, Cobb and VJax.
Marshall, Gio, Bell top-3 on my board.

it is going to be interesting how jordan mathews is used and also the forgotten man in ppr leagues.....mr sproles
Unfamiliar sight to see Sproles outside top-100 PPR boards.

Andrew luck might be #4 fantasy qb this year behind the big 3..if he falls past 5th round im taking that
I have Luck squarely 4th in front of Cam and Stafford.

Ray Rice is gonna end up being a steal in the 6th-7th round....
Trying to get an idea, who are you taking Rice over in the same range?

Ronnie hillman might mess around and start the season if he continues having a good preseason with monte ball out.
Not until he consistently improves his pass-pro and avoids fumbling.

Just got my draft order and I have the last pick in the first round (12), i've never drafted last in all of my years playing fantasy.  What do you guys think are good picks with 12 and 13?  RB WR, WR RB, WR WR??
BPA at those two positions. For example, if you can nab DT or Dezzy. Do it. RB choices will probably be Doug Martin and Stacy.

For keepers would you rather have McCoy and Demaryius, or Rodgers and Calvin?

We don't do it where you lose a certain round pick for a player.
Shady and DT. McCoy is arguably the best player in fantasy. DT is the consensus #2 WR. Rodgers is either the second or third best QB depending how you see Brees. But you're able to grab competent QB options later. Luck, Stafford, Ryan, etc. There's only three premier, guaranteed backs. Shady, AP, Charles. The separation between DT and Megatron is well-compensated by Shady over AR12.

Man more I research how TE are looking in training camp..zach ertz is looking to be this years steal of the draft. Kelly looks to use him at slot/starting TE and i have a feeling he kills in the redzone as well
He's my must-have on the cusp of top-10. Reed is seemingly flying off the boards and I won't reach. Green is more a backup type to decrease risk.

Just picked up Josh Gordon in my keeper league. He went undrafted so I figured might as well give it a shot. You guys think there is any chance his suspension gets lowered?
Settlement is possible. His defense appears legitimate based on sample B.

Rate this early draft I just did. My boy wanted the draft early since everyone could be present..had #1 pick in 12 man league..2 flex spots, PPR:

QB: Colin Kaep
RB1: Lesean mccoy
RB2: Reggie Bush
WR1: Jordy Nelson
WR2: Antonio Brown
TE: Zach Ertz
WR/RB: Ben Tate
WR/TE: Percy Harvin
D/ST: Seattle
K: Mason Crosby

Bench:
P. Rivers
Tavon Austin
Jeremy Maclin
Markus Wheaton
L. Green
T. Richardson
Lamar Miller
Josh Gordon
Well-done. Curious, what made you go Shady over AP and Charles?

Reggie is a top-25 fantasy PPR player. Your receiver tandem is sick, Jordy gets you TD and Brown grabs tons of receptions. No more Sanders in the picture. Heath is aging. Pittsburgh's offense runs through Ben, Bell, and A. Brown.

Kaep has upside and you backed him up with Rivers. I really think your W/R spot will go to T-Rich or Miller over Tate. And W/T could possibly be Gordon or Wheaton. Percy can't stay on the field, man. Ertz and Green low-risk, high-reward guys.
