OFFICIAL 2014 FANTASY FOOTBALL THREAD

I used to think taking RB's back to back with my first two picks was efficient, but all these mock drafts I've been doing lately with a pattern of RB, WR, RB, WR, QB and then TE nets me a pretty solid team every time.
 
And I've been waiting on taking a defense with my very last pick, either Cleveland or Tampa. I just think its a huge waste taking a D/ST early.
 
Andrew Luck is gonna be my QB this year. I can grab him in the mid-late rounds and have a solid RB/WR core while also having an all-pro QB

I think he'll sneak his way into being a top 3 fantasy QB this season.
 
Branden LaFell gotta be a sleeper this year

Had a great year on that Carolina offense and will flourish with Brady this season

I agree, LaFell's gonna have a good year with the Pats. Had good && bad moments with us over the past 4 seasons, but can definitely be an asset for Tom. I hear he may be playing a bit of the 'Hernandez' role up there, so I'm intrigued to see how he does.
 
For first pick Im usually getting AP-Alfred-WR

Im taking Julio if hes available but if hes gone who would you take amongst these Alshon, Jordy, Antonio

Learning towards antonio if julio is gone

I keep tryna do mocks to not take a qb till the 5th - 6th but the last two brees has fallen to 17 and 21. If this happens IRL i gotta roll with Drew at that point. Ideally my draft would go Rb. Rb. Wr. Rb. Qb
 
@Shev, I'd also go A. Brown out of those three if you can't nab Julio. Think he nets another 100 catch season this year.

@JEW, yea def. can't not take Drew if that happens. How many teams are in your league?
 
I'm in a two keeper league and the best quarterbacks that aren't being kept by anybody will probably be Stafford, Brady, Foles, Cutler and Ryan. I'm gonna be shook as to where I should take my quarterback because I'm not gonna wanna miss out on one of those top ones available. My keepers are McCoy and Demaryius.
 
Matt Ryan is ALWAYS my fall back.

He's been my dude from day 1, but when it comes to fantasy, I always know he's that fringe dude that no one wants, but also produces as a 2nd to 3rd tier QB. Steady production no matter. Mostly 2TD's, 250 yards, but that'll beat the days where if you have Eli, Romo, Stafford or the like, when they have 4 INT's....Ryan is like a diversified portfolio in investing. Highs are never way up there, but when the lows come, they're not stock market crash type. That's kinda the weird way I think about him. :lol:

That's pretty much my thinking. Aside from two years ago (where he had a monster year), he's just that steady guy that'll get you points - another Tony Romo type guy who will do well enough to get you 15-20, with some hiccups here and there. Their receiving core being healthy makes a worlds of difference and Is the main reason I'm targeting him in the 6th, only not having his favorite target Gonzo there is my only hesitation on taking 'em. Who's the Falcons TE now anyways? :lol:
 
Would you guys ever consider not keeping a running back in a four player keeper league? I'm debating between Frank Gore and Alshon Jeffrey as my 4th keeper. If I choose Jeffrey, I would be keeping a QB, a TE and two Wrs.

10. Did another mock this a.m. where i waited till the 6th and i got Matt Stafford hahah i was shocked. Waitong os def the best strategy. I had backs for days. Went rb. Wr. Wr. Rb. Rb. Qb. Rb. Rb. Wr. Rb. Had lacy. Spiller. Cj2k. Ridley. Vereen. Mjd. Mcfadden.

Demarius and julio at wr with golden tate and brandon la fell on bench

Settled for marty b at tight end. And took a flyer on ebron since i had matty. Only downfall was week 9 i basically would be forfetting hah
 
Rooting for Matt Ryan would make me sick....

Had to trade Brees for Brady a few years ago cause I couldn't deal with it anymore :lol:

Keeping Frank Gore this year is foolish. He's on the down side of his career and has Carlos Hyde breathing down his neck. Keep Jeffrey and don't think twice about it
 
Two things.

1) We have been told by analysts for a few years now that Gore is done and his production will drop off.  It hasnt happened yet.

2) (and most importantly) Can I really go into the season without a keeper running back?  This makes me really nervous.

I am aware that value wise, Alshon should be rated higher than Gore.  However with the 8th pick in the first round, with no keeper running backs on my roster, it is going to be a long year with the RB position.

well do you know what RBs are being kept by other owners?
 
Anyone have any fun ways they choose their draft order every year?

Last year my 10 team league all got assigned #'s to Horses at a local racetrack. We went to the race and recorded it. If you got Horse #3 and he won you got pick 1, horse 9 was 2nd you get 2nd pick in the draft etc etc
