OFFICIAL 2014 FANTASY FOOTBALL THREAD

You guys think either Jennings or Williams are going to be decent?

Jennings is definitely a good flex play, sometimes will be a decent RB2. Williams is really talented if he gets hurt. Giants OL does suck balls though.

How? if they want to do the trade its on them

plus its football. anything can happen, just because on paper or last season the player was great doesnt mean jack for the upcoming season and he/they could have terrible games the time you need them most.
What do you mean how? Lol, some of the trade proposals being posted are hilarious

Besides that, some of the drafts being posted are also nuts. Lacy and Forte going #9 or 10, lol

Not holding it against folks just commenting that it's funny

My draft went well last night, here's how my roster turned out :smokin. Numbers in parentheses are the round the player was drafted. I'll add some commentary although most will probably just pass over it  .

QB1: Jay Cutler (3)
QB2: Tony Romo (4)
RB1: Jamaal Charles (keeper, 2)
RB2: Gio Bernard (keeper, 8 )
WR1: Julio Jones (1)
WR2: Michael Floyd (5)
TE: Jordan Reed (7)
D/ST: Browns (16)
K: Nate Freese (17)
Bench: Toby Gerhart (6), Lamar Miller (9), Brandin Cooks (10), Knile Davis (11), Andrew Hawkins (12), Jeremy Hill (13), Blake Bortles (14), James White (15)

This league is a little different for 2 reasons: 1. It's a keeper league, and 2. Instead of a Flex, theres an "OP" position which allows a QB/RB/WR/TE to be started, essentially making it a 2QB league. It's also PPR and 6 points for pass TDs.

I had 9th overall pick (out of 10). Traditionally I go QB in the first round in this league. But since Manning/Brees/Rodgers were gone by my pick, and since there's no clear-cut #4 I opted to "wait" on QB (more on this later). Also, since I kept Charles with my 2nd round pick, I didn't pick again until 29th overall. Dez, Demariyus, and AJ Green went 6, 7, 8, and since I didn't have a 2nd round pick, I opted to reach for Julio Jones. When it came back to me in the 3rd and 4th rounds, I took Jay Cutler and Tony Romo. Really happy that they fell to me there, as they were the exact 2 guys I was targeting pre-draft.

Also really happy with my RB depth as I was able to secure handcuffs for both Charles and Bernard, as well as Gerhart and Miller. Went with James White as the upside/potential keeper steal. Pretty disappointed in my WR depth though. Guys that I was targeting were constantly getting taken before me, and along with managing the draft board and keeping track of my own spreadsheets, it kinda slipped my mind that I needed more WRs . Still like both Cooks and Hawkins' upside though. Not worried about TE depth as there are plenty available on waivers, and since waivers are auction format, I can buck up if I absolutely need one.

Over the first 4 rounds there were 3 players kept (2 RBs, 1 WR), so there were pretty much 37 actual picks. Out of those 37 picks, 15 of them were QBs. 41% of the players drafted in the first 4 rounds were QBs . 35% were WRs (13), and just 22% were RBs (8 ). One of the reasons why I love this format. The draft is always different and you have to adapt on the fly.

Here's a pic of the draft board if anyone wants to take a look. Keepers are outlined. (Click to enlarge)

I have not one single complaint. Hope my steals/sleepers board helped. Well done, JRS. Didn't sacrifice WR quality despite going RB/RB. Shady potentially the best overall player in fantasy in Chip's offense. Gio is a fringe, adequate RB1 in PPR formats for me. Garcon caught 113 balls last season, Gruden should help match that scheme once the QB situation is sorted. Brady is undervalued based on ADP, his demise is greatly exaggerated.

Alright major trade possibly in the works definitely need some peoples opinions on this asap. 12 team PPR league big money.

Outgoing

McCoy
Randall Cobb
Jordan Cameron

Incoming

AJ Green
Montee Ball
Jordy Nelson
Jimmy Graham

Team would be...

Foles
Montee Ball
Reggie Bush
Demaryius
AJ Green
Jordy
Jimmy Graham
Browns D
Gostkowski

Chris Johnson
Fred Jackson
Mike Evans
Danny Amendola
Romo
Cecil Shorts
Ladarius Green
Jonathan Grimes

Or stick with what I have

Reggie Bush
Chris Johnson
Demaryius
Cobb
Cameron
Browns D
Gostkowski

Fred Jackson
Mike Evans
Amendola
Romo
Cecil Shorts
Ladarius Green
Jonathan Grimes
It really comes down to your level of faith in Ball to be a RB1. Can he block sufficiently? Will he hold onto the football? Fox won't be afraid to turn to Hillman if Ball struggles in either aspect.

I'd do it...graham> cameron...nelson/Cobb almost a wash plus u get AJ and ball for Mccoy who is a bad hammy waiting to happen. .In ppr u know montee will get dump offs and goal line carries.
Shady has only missed 5 games in five seasons.

drafted in another 12 team 1PPR league. 6th pick.

went WR WR WR and was going to grab another WR for my flex, but the player i wanted got taken right before me

oh well.
Know you went too receiver heavy. Vereen is an ample RB2 in PPR formats, but not as a lead back. Gerhart carries risk in J-Ville, he's an unknown commodity as a workhorse back. How much will the Jags be throwing down big in the second-half?

You guys think either Jennings or Williams are going to be decent?
Jennings is a fringe RB2, better Flex. Williams a pure handcuff as of now. Has to prove to Coughlin he's reliable and secure with the football.

What do you guys think of both of my 10 team leagues? I know the RB department is a bit weak but I changed up my strategy this year and wanted to target top tier slot 1 receivers and drafted RB in the later rounds.

First team: Don't carry two defenses. Scoop another RB/WR for depth. Rice can slot as your RB2 post-suspension, but you need to upgrade RB1 with a Jennings or Vereen plus WR package.

Second team: Again, no need to carry two defenses. Better at the RB position with Bell, Gerhart, Vereen. Wright could be a major asset if he fills a Hernandez-type role to compliment Gronk. Should see targets and you already have Jimmy.

Sound draft strategy. Appears you were meticulous and thoughtful. How you got Hill in the 13th round, I'll never know.

I took Cadet for you since I had no one else on the board that I wanted. Was between him and Andrew Hawkins but I didn't want another Brown.

I have Riley Cooper on a team and they are offering me Lamar Miller for him. Shoul I make that trade? (My two best WRs are Demaryus Thomas and Vincent Jackson and my two best RBs are Zac Stacy and Ben Tate)
Deal. Miller could be your RB2 over Tate, if West jumps him in Cleveland.

Who has more upside at the TE position...Wright or Amaro? PPR League and why. Thx
Wright. Calling him Hernandez is steep and a rush reaction, but Wright can play. Had a stellar season in Tampa, nabbing 54 balls with shaky QB play. Now he has Brady, Bill had a vision with the Mankins trade. More double-TE sets with all the attention on Gronk.

Geno is uncertain. Can and will he get the football consistently to Amaro? I liked Jace a whole lot at Texas Tech because of the way Pocket K's spreads the field. Marty is not the same offensive mind professionally.

I'm considering this trade sending Sammy Watkins and receiving Percy Harvin, thoughts?
Percy despite injury risk. Sammy just re-injured his ribs and we don't know what to expect from Manuel.

Well my only money league this year, 10 Team Standard

Good team. Bench has upside guys. Ellington should flourish with a lot of touches under Arians in the Flex. Some concern over Ball replacing Moreno as a workhorse and reliable RB1.

Should I trade Fred Jackson for Moreno? Worried about Gore getting injured
I wouldn't. My prediction is Miller becomes starter under Lazor. Freddy catches the ball and gets TD.

Just did my big money league draft. 12 teams, ESPN...

Thoughts? I'm actually really confident...

QB: Wilson
RB: Murray
RB: Martin
WR: V-Jax
WR: Allen
TE: Ertz
Flex: Jennings
Flex: Tate (Golden)
DEF: Texans
DEF: Jags
K: Walsh

Bench:

Williams (Terrance)
Hunter
Ingram
Wheaton
Hyde
Benjamin (Kelvin)
Kelce
Smith (Geno)
Like what I see, except minus Geno. Ertz might realistically catch 70 balls under Chip. Shored up the RB position while locking down receiver with one veteran presence and the other being Allen on the cusp of greatness. Tate is a beast after the catch, playing with Megatron, Matty, and Bush.

Jimmy graham/Lamar miller/m wallace for Jason written/d Murray/Larry fitz. Who wins the trade?
Murray, Witten, and Fitz side. The latter two are experienced veterans that are reliable, tough, and durable. You know what production to receive on a yearly basis. Murray is supposed to be a top-12 fantasy player, but carries injury concern.

I took Cadet for you since I had no one else on the board that I wanted. Was between him and Andrew Hawkins but I didn't want another Brown.
Good looks. I really think Cadet is the next Darren Sproles in New Orleans on turf with Payton and Brees. In terms of value, I prefer him to Khiry Robinson.

Should I trade for Hill to handcuff Gio? I could probably push Bennett for him.
I would do that swap straight up. Hill has more value to you as a Gio owner. Will steal goal-line TD and a great emergency backup in case of injury. Hill would have went higher in the Draft had it not been for "character concerns" at LSU.

I can only keep two of the following, go:

Eric Decker
Justin Hunter
Kelvin Benjamin
Hunter, Deck, Benjamin. In that order.

he seemed to take the reigns as he was returning kicks, but with the production from thomas last year it might be hard for cadet to get reps.

i think thomas was the reason sproles became expendable and thus traded

Cadet is 4 years younger. I expect him to take a third of Thomas' receptions from '13.

In a standard scoring league who would guys rather keep, Darren Sproles or Devonta Freeman?
freeman.

freeman will be the starter if jackson doesnt stay healthy or produces.

sproles is a specialty player but wont see the same opportunities as freeman

Everyone seems to share this sentiment of Hunter over Benjamin. Would you care to explain it to me as I'm having a hard time agreeing. Benjamin provides instant value as he is a WR1 for the Panthers with a much better QB. he has been getting a good amount of targets and has had a consistently great preseason. Hunter has had a fantastic preseason but is still getting WR3 reps as of last night. And he has a terrible Qb core.

Expecting Locker to make a significant jump in the QB tiers this season under Whis. Wright will rack up receptions, Hunter the TD. Hunter is a big play threat down the field. He's Tennessee's second best WR after Wright. Walker helps keep defenses honest with the intermediate routes.

Avant and Cotch are more proven and reliable for Cam, despite KB having more talent and upside. Olsen will get the majority of looks from Newton. Benjamin doesn't run great routes and lacks top-end speed. His hands are a work in progress. Not much of a threat after the catch.

Cutler
Dez
D.Thomas
Maclin/Mike Evans
Andre Ellington
Bush
Jordan Cameron
Pierce

Stills
Nicks
Tannehill
Ebron
Beckham Jr
Like Tanny a lot as a backup QB. Guessing PPR since you have Reggie as a RB1. Ellington poised to break out. Mac9 worrisome injury history, but less concerning in the Flex.

Your bench has some questions. Stills' quad. How much does Nicks have left in terms of motivation and production? OBJ could lose targets to Randle and Jernigan.

Can any Eagles fans give me the scoop on Jordan Matthews? How has he looked?
Jerry Rice's cousin, for those who didn't know. Length, good-sized target. Runs solid routes, willing to block, and has adequate leaping ability.

Got a keeper league at 8... I kept Gio Bernard, lacy and jimmy Graham... Out of Edelman , cordelle, Russell Wilson, only other note worthy players to mention... Am I good??? I was runner up in chip last year
You kept the right three players.

McCoy owners/potential drafters, keep an eye on Matthew Tucker as a handcuff. He's been playing really well this preseason (as has Henry Josey). Chris Polk has been injured all camp and hasn't played a single preseason snap.
I've liked him since TCU. Late bloomer of sorts.

Go with your gut. Benjamin and Hunter for me. Decker jus flat out isnt good.

Deck is definitely masquerading as the Jets' #1 receiver, more a #2 for all intensive purposes. Even with Geno, he's good to nab 65-70 balls. Will see tons of targets seeing as him and Kerley are the only noteworthy options. Plus he's scored 32 TD the last three seasons in Denver.

Ya im just of the opinion peyton made those thirty tds happen. He doesnt seperate well. Drops the ball alot and isnt explosive. Hes big and runs good routes. Not much upside... The other two tho... Could explode. Never know

Free agents on the wire in my 10 man

J. Hill
J. Hunter
D. Freeman
K. Benjamin
Ingram
A . Williams

Anyone make a case for the best overall pickup?
Depends if you need WR or RB depth. Best receiver is Hunter, should accumulate substantial TD with the Titans. Best back is Freeman, could start early over S-Jax and then Hill who is a valuable handcuff to Gio. Goal-line TD.

Turned down getting A. Foster for Vereen in a PPR league. Hope that doesn't come back to haunt me hhahahaah
I would have taken the risk. I get Foster is boom-or-bust, but the double-digit rushing TD is far too tempting.
