I think UA is nuts to give KD that type of money but i don't have a read of the younger fan anymore and I don't think KD has that mass influence factor

but KD should take the money and run.

Agree if that is the offer take the money and run but I would hate to see him leave the swoosh

A source tells Eyewitness News that former Lawrence North Basketball star and current NBA player Greg Oden was booked into the Marion County Jail this morning.

He has been booked on two preliminary charges of misdemeanor battery.

Most recently Oden played for the Miami Heat but he was released to free agency.

The LA Clippers had plans to bring him in for a work out.

We have reached out to Oden's agent and the Miami Heat, but so far they have not responded.

Metta World Peace is going to have a new name in China.

New high-profile import playing for Chinese basketball  Association club Sichuan Blue Whales is known as Ron Artest but intends to change his name to "Panda  Friend" in honor of his move to China.

World Peace, who is known in China as "Ci Shiping", a literal translation of "Metta World Peace," now plans to name himself after China's giant panda, a precious animal based in Southwest China's Sichuan province, where his new team is also based.

Apparently excited by his China trip, the "Panda Friend" tweeted he would be visiting the pandas with his daughter, while also adding that he would be changing his name in honor of his move.

"New Chinese name coming soon. You guys are going to love it! " He posted on his Chinese twitter-like social media Sina Weibo.

The news of Artest's joining CBA was at the same time closely followed by Chinese web users as 8,960,000 entries for "Metta World Peace signs with CBA" were recorded on Baidu.com.

The news also went viral on China's social media as the topic "World Peace signs with CBA" got 25.75 million hits on Sina Weibo and an official account called "Metta_World_Peace", credited as "NBA  star, serves for New York Nicks" by SinaWeibo, were followed by 967,204 followers

As CBA's highest paid import player, the "Panda Friend" has signed a one-year deal with Sichuan Blue Whales worth $1.43 million, becoming the league's latest big names after Stephon Marbury, Tracy McGrady.

Greg Oden description of what happened told to the cops (Source: Deadspin)

"Things got out of control and I started to go after the victim," police quoted Oden in the report. He said the relative and witness tried to hold him back, but he swung his arms trying to break free and punched the victim.

"I was wrong and I know what has to happen," Oden told officers. He said he and the woman had dated for approximately two years and broke up about two months ago.

Police described Oden as "calm, apologetic and cooperative" and said he told them he took "full responsibility" for his actions.
