I pray it will get better for Chicago, it's a great city.. But as was stated before the economic divide in the city is too evident.

Wild considering I was in the Chicago visiting over the weekend and didn't hear one gunshot and I was all over the city....and my grandma stays on the southside. Didn't even hear about this until I got back home.

They give the teens kids the guns and hit jobs because they know they won't get in trouble keeping or min consequences. They Street know the law better then the lawyers. The street know which laws crimes get punished and which ones get off with a slap on wrist
The ol gees are having the younger kids do their dirty work. Throw them some girls car and money and you got them

Personally I saw make the Southside a red light district sell your drugs do whatever but no cops will patrol that area. Tell the good people you got 90 days to move. Let all the losers kill themselves.

bruh not to get off topic but I swear its like this on a street in south Dallas
mad prostitutes and drug selling in that area and the police never patrol over there on that street at all
they might got behind it or around that area but as far as them being on that street it just doesn't

. But I didnt think it was that ugly until i seen the paper at work.
At this point there is nothing they can do but keep on with the plan they started until there's really no urban hoods in reach of down town or in city limits but they have nobody to blame but themselves, dropping all the projects on the low end with no real plan for relocation was the down fall for the city and will continue to be the very reason people think war zone before they think great city.

I believe until recently there was a gun ban in this city. About 3/4 of guns retrieved by police are illegally owned.

So from a law enforcement and political perspective they don't care enough. They don't care to put an end to or even curb a bunch of gangs that have no leadership and are in the streets committing dumb crimes.What is wrong with Chicago? Do the ppl in charge simply don't care? I don't consider it a place to be behind the times so imo if NYC was able to stop it's 90s huge crime wave, quell the gangs, drug abuse and other violent related crimes, etc. why can't they?

New York never had the gang history that Chicago or LA has. Gangs that are generational and have been huge parts of the community for decades. With the mass incarceration movement that our country has seen as a result of the war on drugs gang leaders are locked up which leaves no authority to discipline little bangers when they commit stupid crimes (stupid being crimes that bring unwanted attention).
Gang Leadership within a entire city is very important as well. LA has seen a decrease in gang violence due to it's gang leadership. Mexicans (specifically Surenos) run all of LA and the majority of California. Every Sureno has loyalty to the prison gang the Mexican Mafia. It is very rare that they little barrio gangbanger can commit a murder that the Mexican Mafia doesn't give the green light for. And if he does there will be hell to pay once he gets to prison.
Chicago does not have this one gang that runs the city. They have many strong gangs (latin kings, bgd etc). And those gangs are lacking leadership due to mass incarceration.
Every organization needs leadership. There is very little leadership within these gangs as a result you have different clicks from the same set beefing. And it's not even over money or prime drug turf. It's over childish things such as disrespect via social media.
These gangs are lacking leadership as a result the bg's have no structure and face zero repercussions for their actions. Actions that previously would not have been warranted.
I can't completely buy you putting this on the incarceration rate and lack of good gang leadership. The whole reason you need an okay for a hit in LA from top brass is because of how severe their law is. Nobody want these kind of problems for the entire fam when **** goes down let alone when some punk makes a dumb move that can put everybody away. So they instill fear and a pretty strict organized structure. So if the Chi lacks that it should be even easier to round up a bunch of idiots with guns that don't value their lives.
