QB THREAD - 2x quarterbacky award winner: Lamar Jackson

Without context? I'm the ******* guy that brought up Totals don't amount to anything and advanced stats need to be used more. That's context dude. I've also made numerous mention of INT's he's thrown while being hit, or ball tipped at the line, or wrong routes, INT's placed on him, but in context, NOT really on him.

Context. this ************.

The playoff thing is simple, Sample Size. 6 games. Thas it. Russ led the NFL in postseason INT's last year. You call him a leader, and a winner. You ignore those turnover issues, but want to hone in on Luck's, who plays with a lesser team.

Context tho.

basically this. if the colts win the super bowl, no one is talking interceptions (example: Russ).

i don't understand how it couldn't be any more clear. andrew luck throws more passes than the all time great QBs, and throws fewer interceptions per pass attempt than all time QBs. how is that not context?

theoretically you could then say well he should throw less, but then they'd be absolute garbage because that offense really isn't built well. bad offensive line, no running game. therefore he has to throw more, and with more throws come more interceptions, except the rate he throws them at is lower than most of the all time great QBs. i don't understand how that is disregarding context.

hell, the year peyton won the superbowl he threw 3 TDs and 7 INTs. sometimes it's more than just one guy.

P.S. - Like the guy, but him jumping into the middle of every-*******-quarterback discussion with Brady and/or Kate Perry laughing gifs is ANNOYING...We get it bro...We get it...Had you not been fortunate enough with Patriots/Brady happenstance, you still peg me as the guy that would be doing this with all the Q's you laugh at for teams in the NFCE...Don't lie! Lucky bastard...

 bro...i know you don't mean that in any type of personal way, but c'mon. EVERYONE on here pushes "their guy" on this board. and excuse me if i do it, especially after dealing with an entire summer of you (not YOU in particular, but the general you) ***clowns on here piling on about ******* ounces of air in footballs and blah blah. and i don't bring 12 up into every discussion. i brought him up in my three paragraph response on Luck's decision making (along with AR12) because it was relevant to the discussion. anything else is harmless trolling/jokes, and i'm sorry if that annoys you. i know it's only fun to talk about Brady on here when it's related to deflate gate, uggz, or waterslides, so i can tone that part down. but the katy perry GIFs are non-negotiable. they will continue. and probably more frequently now. that's a joke, relax

and as far as the NFCE QB's...you got it wrong. i've never even hinted at you being that guy. never once went at you for believing in bradford. i'm actually probably the biggest non-cowboy fan Romo guy on here. so not sure where that is all coming from. if you somehow decide to prop Eli up, yes i'll probably comment. but i'm not that guy, man

let's carry on though...back to the discussion

Sean + Drew were able to do work with Colston, Meachum, Stills, Moore, Henderson, random other WRs and a rotating door of RBs for the last decade. Brees hasn't thrown for less than 4300 yards/26 TDs in that time.

I do question his personnel decisions though. Getting rid of Graham and Sproles when your QB is entering his twilight don't seem like the smartest moves.

More excuses. Blaming everybody by him for interceptions "He was pressured..."the receivers!)

I don't remember you mentioning how 2 of Russell Wilson interceptions in NFCCG hit the receiver square in the numbers. Its just Russell Wilson threw 4 interceptions in the NFCCG.

That's funny how that works.

Sample size? 6 games is just as many playoff games as Tony Romo has.

Its 13 turnovers in those games a little over 2 a game in the playoffs. but hey its just sample size.

Lets cry about his recievers, line, coaching, weather, deflated Footballs etc instead of asking Andrew Luck to do the one thing that's realistic....cut down his turnovers

they don't even need sean payton. they just a GM/coach that understands the importance of building a fully rounded team. the phillip dorsett pick killed me. not cause dorsett sucks or anything like that. he's got plenty of talent. but that pick is not going to help the colts take the next step. it's just not. i don't care how ******* fast he is, if luck is getting hit on half his drop backs, he's not going to find dorsett. or hilton. or anyone. he's going to find revis.

sean payton is overrated anyway, imo. *shrugs*

It truly boggles my mind, the guy that has been in here pounding the desk turnovers are turnovers are turnovers are turnovers, bad bad bad bad, is then trying to push “context” on me.

When I’m the guy that tries to point out, 3rd and 18, he throws a 45 yard go route, picked off, “arm punt”.

Ryan Tannehill had 12 INT’s last year, one of them came on the final play of the game, down 19, he threw an INT trying to force something. So did he really have 12, or did he actually have 11 INT’s?

Russ throws 4 INT’s in the NFCCG and wins, he throws half that in the Super Bowl and loses. Context?

Like DWS pointed out, the worst playoff run Peyton ever had, and he won the SB that year. Turnovers turnovers turnovers turnovers tho.

He keeps pushing possessions, and no big deal coaching, or RB, or Oline, or Def, if ANDREW LUCK didn’t tur the ball over so much (which we have clearly proven he doesn’t) the Colts would somehow be a better team?

It all comes down to Luck had a bad game, on Monday Night football, and lost the ball 4 times, so people need to come in and get their hot takes off their fingertips, and let everyone know what’s “really” goin on.

Luck 21 INTs, since 2014, Cutler 20. Luck 700 passes, Cutler 600. I pointed this out. That’s not “context”?

Friendly doin what he does best, bein the sly troll that ignores the info, finds another approach, and tries to make that the thing that counts, even tho there are a million holes in his points, we all point them out, and then he says WE aren’t using context.
He does this in every thread, every discussion. My fault for fallin for it, but truthfully, I enjoy this thread very much. I like dissectin NFL QB’s past and present, and seein what I can learn about them each day. I legit completely forgot that year Stafford did, I was truly stunned to look over it last night. That’s why I put up with some of the trolling efforts I have to endure to get to some good info. *shrugs*

Context

Food for thought: Sean Peyton to the Colts?

Could he do with Luck what he did with Brees?

Might Harbaugh be the truly better fit tho? :nerd:

Harbaugh would beef up those lines, get a little more defense and ground game, and then let Luck do what he needs to finish games out.

Yes truly a troll take

"Andrew Luck turns the ball over more than elite and most good quarterbacks of his ERA. "

I've broken this down to you but you keep ignoring it the points I'm making and making excuses.

"I don't see a reason to care about league averages then and now." but yet you want to discuss interception numbers from back then!

"Andrew Luck has high turnover rate in the playoffs"..."sample size"

Its his defenses fault, coaches fault, teammates fault!

Well guess what?

None of those things are changing anytime soon....the only thing that can happen soon is Andrew Luck cutting down his turnovers.

Its doesnt matter what other guys have.....its matters what Andrew Luck has.

I don't know what so hard to understand for you.

I was just having fun...And I was more than a few in.

Cuz none of what you just said is true. Maybe?

No one is making excuses, context, remember.

We've talked about supporting casts for all of these guys, positive and negative. It isn't just Luck, that's you grindin your ax.

Is 6 games NOT, a small sample size? And 2 of those are vs NE, on the road, as underdogs, they were never gonna win to begin with.

Peyton with like a dozen one and dones, not small sample size. Luck 6 games total, in 3 years, that's pretty small.

You keep pushing your Luck turnover narrative, I'm just refuting your claims with facts, or, context.

Well yeah, but I still don't think he's going to bail on Michigan after a year. He's a God up there.

Without an exceptional O-Line/decent run game, Luck would be worse for wear in Payton's offense. I'd have to look deeper into it but I'm pretty positive the only decent run blocker in the WR's is Andre.

But, if they got some pieces, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt because I think he'd do his best to cater his WCO around Luck.

Yes the league average for interceptions per game (.9) and interception pct ( 2.5) in 2014 is on par with Andrew Luck's career interception numbers (.96) and (2.5) and 4.7 TD pct

Other active NFL quarterback numbers

AR12- 0.5 INT per game.....1.2 int pct....6.5 TD pct

TB12- 0.6 INT per game...2.0 int pct...5.5 TD pct

Peyton- 0.9 INT per game...2.6....5.8 TD pct

Romo- 0.7 INT per game...2.6 int pct....5.7 TD pct

Brees- 0.96 INT per game....2.6 int pct...5.3 TD pct

Roethlisberger-0.8 INT per game...2.6 int pct....5.1 TD pct

Wilson-0.5 INT per game...2.1 int pct....5.7 TD pct

Rivers-0.8 INT per game...2.6 int pct....5.4 TD pct

Flacco-0.8 INT per game...2.5 int pct....4.0 TD pct

Ryan-0.8 INT per game...2.3 int pct...4.6 TD pct

Newton- 0.8 INT per game...2.8 int pct...4.3 TD pct

Kaepernick- 0.51 INT per game...1.8 int pct....4.4 TD pct

Smith- 0.6 INT per game...2.4 int pct....3.9 TD pct

Tannehill- 0.8 INT per game...2.4 int pct.....3.8 TD pct

Eli-1 INT per game...3.2 int pct...4.7 TD pct

Stafford-1.1 INT per game....2.8 int pct...4.2 TD pct

Dalton-1 INT per game...3.0 int pct...4.8 TD pct

Cutler-1.1 INT per game...3.4 int...4.7 TD pct

Bradford- 0.82 INT per game....2.3 int pct...3.3 TD pct

Carr-0.7 INT per game....2.0 int pct...3.7 TD pct

Andrew Luck is ahead of the guys you'd expect but are his numbers better than of the elites or "top 10" quarterbacks?
