If Di Maria were smart, he would stay because Toni Kroos will be looking for a trasfer out of madrid in no time since he will be a flop

Toni Kroos at madrid will be another sneijder, robben, huntelaar, van der vaart all over again

k.

Di Maria always seemed to me to be that player fans expected to be world class EVERY match. I admit before last season i wouldn't care if he left..but he was such a major force it sucks.

He's def not a fan fav. But I think Di Maria wants to go because he's already proven that he should be in the starting XI, but Real just keeps signing dudes for him to compete against. I don't blame him. I'm sure wages are also a reason but Real have been a bit disrespectful to him so I'm sure he's had enough.
Headache selections for Carlo. Assuming Ancelotti is forced into a 4-2-3-1 to create a natural 10 for James, as opposed to his favored 4-3-3 formation. Benzema up top as lead striker. Ronnie, James, Bale. Double pivot could be an issue with who to properly pair with Kroos. Xabi Alonso is aging and athletically behind other world-class players. Modric and Kroos wouldn't be defensively responsible enough. Khedira is constantly in transfer rumors. I suppose Kroos and Khedira works if the latter is convinced to remain in Spain.

Def are many selection headaches with the team. In my opinion you cannot bench Modric. I think Ancelotti stays with the 4-3-3 with James, Modric, and Kroos as the eventual preferred starters. Defensively they can be a liability. But then again I don't know how good Kroos is on defense, he seemed to play it well for Germany this summer.

Damn can La Liga just start already

La Liga president's American dream

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti gives his take on the record crowd at Michigan Stadium where Manchester United were 3-1 winners over Real Madrid.
La Liga president Javier Tebas has said he believes the time is right for the Spanish game to take off in the U.S.

Champions Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona are poised to lead attempts to crack the American market, with Tebas saying competitive matches could one day be played there.

The Telegraph quoted the president as saying he believed La Liga was the "best league in the world" and could stake its claim to a key place in the American sporting market.

"We have fans in every corner of the globe, and we want to deliver our product in any format necessary," he said.

"Today we play in Spain, but the future has no frontiers. We are the best league in the world. La Liga will continue to work on our global format so that our league can be visible the world over. From here, anything is conceivable."

Real and Atletico have already played in the U.S. this summer, and Tebas said he was confident the level of interest in them showed Spanish football would be a huge draw for American fans.

Nearly 110,000 people attended Real's 3-1 Champions Cup defeat to Manchester United in Michigan on Saturday -- the biggest-ever crowd for a soccer match in the States.

"The US is the sports marketplace par excellence," Tebas said. "It is the place where any global spectacle must prove its worth, where success is sought in terms of market, strategy and product.

"We want to be able to create and deliver Spanish football there. The best league in the world, the competition in which the best players in the world compete, wants to be able to pass the test of the most demanding sports fans on the planet."

He said "now is the moment" for the sport to take off in the U.S. and stressed: "La Liga considers the U.S. a priority. We will work with all our available resources to reach the American public with a level of excellence which our product represents.

"Our challenge is to reach the millions of potential fans in the U.S. If this comes to pass, La Liga as a brand will be in the best showcase in the world."

La Liga should and now I believe they will do a better job of promoting the league in the US. The EPL has done a great job doing so, La Liga has been behind. But I guess it's time to wake-up. Thing is La Liga has a huge advantage because of kick-off time, they're games would start between good day-time hours unlike England which starts way too early.

Does that mean PSG is selling Lavazzi? Also does that mean Benz and Falcao are alternating starts?

I don't think it would be a shame if Di Maria left. I think it's the right move for all parties (assuming that Real and Di Maria both are going to collect PSG's oil money.)

Although his talent and work rate allowed him to work in Madrid's 4-3-3, Real still has more potential to dominate possession and pick out BBC with the likes of Kroos and James there instead of a converted winger in Di Maria. As good as he is, his best position is the one that Gareth Bale occupies who is elite. So why not replace him with younger players who are as good as he is (or if not yet, almost are) have more potential than he does. And if the time comes you can sell them and either recoup fees on James or make a profit off Kroos. I also think that with Di Maria coming off the injury and no longer having that fire from wanting to prove himself last season, Real runs the risk of not getting the same level of performance from him.

And from Angel's perspective, he can leave Madrid with full pride and a feeling of success and achievement. He showed that he's a real footballer and Madridista when he took on the challenge of staying, earned his way back in the starting XI, and capped it with a MOTM performance in the CL final. He's going to turn 27 this campaign, and it's better his prime is spent as an automatic first team selection instead of stuck in a stacked midfield, playing in his preferred position, and getting paid. Also, I think it's better for him to find a new challenge to take on.

Edit: didn't see that PSG pic until after I posted this

Appears that Rodwell is going to Sunderland for 10M.
Odds of him playing more than 20 games?

If Kroos plays in the middle as the holding-defensive midfielder, isn't James better off centrally in the No. 10 hole as opposed to out-wide as an outside mid?

Still Israel Gutierrez's doppelganger.

Fiorentina is asking for €50 mill for Cuadrado. :x That's a healthy WC tax...

Arsenal's original €30 mill bid for William Carvalho was supposedly rejected not because of the price but because Wenger essentially wanted put him on layaway...

Wenger wanted to pay the €30 mill in installments but he's apparently prepared to pay the full amount right away.

Can't remember which podcast it was but they were joking about how LvG has better hair than the fake follicles Rooney paid for.

He's already 26. Many more cheaper, younger alternatives for adequate wide-play.
