I love how the thread always eventually devolves into an EPL vs BDL/La Liga discussion

I don't mind people having preferences, I certainly have mine. I just don't like factually incorrect statements the typical sports fans make. It's why I stopped posting in the nfl threads.

@psk2310
Do you think Laporta will run this summer?

Cules are forgetting how the last 2-3 years of his reign ended. He caused so much turmoil within the club with her yelling, tyrant - dictator like behavior, under handed dealings. It was so bad Rosell beat with with 61% of the vote which was a huge landslide.

Than the thing with Laporta cooking the books. That's unforgivable. Throwing the club into the amount of debt it ended up having showed a severe lack of leadership & a severe lack of ethics/morals.

People started hating Rosell beginning with the Qatar shirt sponsor ship but it was actually Laporta's poor financial management that necessitated the act.

At this point in time, I think it's time for fresh new leadership.

PSK - Germany league is going on the downhill. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you that German league produce better youths. The BPL will never produce the same amount of local talent as the other league until they stop over valuing local talents.

The thing with the BPL, it allows more foreign owners to come in and put a resources around a club and only them to compete with the big boys. not so much in Germany. Look at Dortmund for an example. They had a great run for a few yrs but lots basically all of its star players. now it will take Dortmund yrs to get back and they know even when they get back up same thing will happen.

That's also incorrect. Bundesliga leads Europe boasting the best attendance. Revenues for all clubs are doing well or at least fairly well & each of them are spending much better because they can't rely on foreign investment like a lot of the British teams do.

Don't get me wrong, the Prem has the huge TV deal ensuring financial health, but Bundesliga is in by no means on it's way down.

You also keep forgetting, they're light years ahead in developing footballing talent than in England that will ensure well coached talent will hit first teams in the league. The government & the DFB spent quite a bit of money in the early 00s to build a very successful infrastructure (that doesn't remotely exist in England & more sophisticated than Spain).

Dortmund will be fine. They're in stellar shape financially. Most of their problems were due to injury & their defense was porous at best. The loss of Lewa & Gotze didn't help either but they'll be back even if they get relegated.

Edit - Here's a graph showing Bundesliga's revenue breakdown. You can see the league doesn't overly rely on one source whereas the Prem relies on 50% of it's revenue from it's TV deals according to the Deloitte financial report.

Also look at player wages as a % of revenue... (on coaching & players).

View media item 1343685
Revenue from 2009 through last year has risen by apprx 28% while total amount spent on coaches/players only rose 13%-15%. All the while competing & doing better than the Prem in European competition.

Lastly, a clear measure of it's financial health, is that total assets in Bundesliga rose to a record €2.1 billion in 2013. Of that figure, 89% of it is attributed to the 18 Bundesliga clubs.

Since 2001, the DFB has invested a staggering €816.72 million in youth football. Let that marinate for a sec. :smokin

So clearly, Bundesliga isn't going downhill anytime so as you suggest. Please stop making statements as if they're fact. Just say you like the Prem better.

PS. One could also argue, foreign ownership is what is actually killing British football & it's culture. Rather than build from within, they'd rather overspend on a player to solve their woes. This is a whole other argument though...

Speaking of DdG & Courtois... The EA gave QPR keeper Rob Green the "most saves by a goalkeeper" award for the halfway point in the Prem. I guess that's what happens when you work behind the likes of Richard Dunne & Rio. Poor fella...

I know dudes are sticking by their team's keeper, but neither of them comes close to Neuer. A lot of us don't have access to watch Bundesliga but if anyone saw him during the WC, it was an amazing sight to see a true "sweeper keeper" at play. He scarred the crap out of me numerous times with the number of time's he'd comfortably come out of the box & handle the ball with this feet... His ability to distribute the ball is unparalleled also.

DdG & Courtois don't come close to this dude... He's on a plateau by himself at the moment... When you see DdG or Courtois coming out like this & also making the saves Neuer does we can talk whose better...

Don't get me wrong, DdG & Courtois are great keepers, but they're just not on the same level as Neuer.

Edit - If you did watch the WC, than you'll know this Algerian team was pretty fast & played at a very break neck speed so for Neuer to come out comfortably, was amazing to see.

Bruhh the Bundesliga is nowhere soon to go downhill. The future is HUGE for Germany and the Bundesliga. They just signed a big deal with FOX for the upcoming 2015-16 season and will be on TV all across the states.

Don't let Bayern Munich's domination fool you into believing that it's a weak league. Teams like Wolfsburg, Bayer Leverkusen, Schalke and BVB, when healthy can easily match City, Man U, Arsenal week in and week out.

Forgot fox signed bunde :pimp: can't wait to be able to watch more matches this fall

I love this thread btw...yall know your **** :pimp:

Still cant believe homie called Bundesliga the weakest of the 5. I understand if he were to say Ligue 1 or la Liga, but Bundesliga :smh:

I was going to rep you, but you had La Liga in there :smh:
To be honest I was just straight thinking of Barca and Real, totally forgot about Athletico, Sevilla,Valencia and the almighty David Moyes with his brilliant tactics over at Real Sociedad. My bad.

Cech; Ivanovic, Zouma, Terry [emoji]169[/emoji], Azpilicueta; Matic, Fabregas; Willian, Oscar, Hazard; Diego Costa

No Schurrle or Salah on the bench today. One or both of these guys are gonna be gone within a year at this rate.

Report: Luis Enrique To Step Down As Manager Of Barcelona
JAN 9, 2015 3:05 PM

Luis Enrique is reportedly preparing to step down as manager of Barcelona after their game on Sunday against Atlético Madrid or by Monday at the latest.

Josep Maria Bartomeu has began to search for a new manager after meeting with Lionel Messi on Thursday. Bartomeu pledged his support to Messi.

According to some rumors, Messi may have asked that Frank Rijkaard return.

JOSEP CAPDEVILA/SPORT

from real GM. messi getting on his lebron/kobe tip getting his coaches fired

The club already denied that rumor & Messi's camp said no such request was made... The other part of that TV3 rumor is the Blaugrana board has contacted Heynckes to come out of retirement & manage the rest of the season...

Edit - here's the link to the story denying the rumor.

http://www.insidespanishfootball.co...ion-guaranteeing-the-sacking-of-luis-enrique/

Tomorrow's game comes down to Enrique putting out a good line-up & the team playing with a sense of urgency. Xavi shouldn't start or play major mins. He can't handle the uptempo pace the game will be. Messi can't be standing around waiting either.

I honestly don't think Barca will win given the way they've played the last 2-3 years. The hallmarks of tiki taka are non existent, the players look lethargic on the pitch (not just Messi either but Xavi, Iniesta, Pedro, Pique, the lot of them).

There is little or playing off the ball & movement (the tiki taka triangles) anymore that I used to see that made this team successful & joyful to watch.

The sad thing is, it's going to get worse before it gets better... The dysfunction of the club has been bubbling since a year before Pep left & just now starting to surface.
