Cement Print vs Elephant Print

Seems like most people call Elephant print, Cement print.

I always remembered Cement print being the speckled pattern on the white/cement IVs and elephant print being imitation elephant skin.

Also... has anyone else noticed how bloated and exaggerated the IIIs have grown overtime ? I guess its somewhat true for every retro, but comparing the 01 and up releases to my 94 is like a totally different shoe and the originals from 88 are even more slim than my 94s.

You're exactly right about the Elephant Print vs. Cement Print. Just a lazy mistake people make.

Following the shape of Jordans over the years is just depressing. I've always been far more of a fan of the art of sneaker design than I was of MJ himself so it's something I can't NOT notice when I look at new pairs.

Cats clearly aren't even glancing at original/1st generation retros when they go in to make another mold.

People be like:

SLIGHTLY USED

but they've been stepped in mud, water and **** 10x

ALSO: People be like: DEADSTOCK. With the toe boxes all smashed up.

Also hate the fact that other sellers say it's deadstock when it's still available in stores.
Actualy, some guy was selling a lebron 11 what the that he wore once.

he later relisted them because there was an "error in the listing" for 400 bucks

Looking at these pictures of couples snuggling and cuddling on Twitter

And I'm here, cleaning my 5's and beating my 1's

QFT..the III's have really lost that elegant look the OG's had..i personally will never purchase a III if it aint crafted like the OG's. Also, wonder when the shape of the midsole started to change? , all the originals had that flat nice look , while it later on took the silhouette of a plane leaving the ground.

Sometimes, the best way to get a "steal" price for your sneakers is by paying retail.

I think the change on the IIIs happened for the 2001 retros. The 94s were still very sleek, although the elephant print was already growing larger than the Originals.

The IVs got bloated for the 04 releases. The 99s still had a slim toebox and angular profile like the originals. The 04's got that massively oversized toebox that's stuck around ever since. The pics I've seen of the "remastered" IVs don't look any better either. They look like theyre using the same lasts as all the recent releases.

I don't know why Nike has such a hard time getting it right. When I look at shoes like the Reebok Omni Pump, they seem to have maintained a shape that's very true to the original cut. Yet everything Nike makes looks like an exaggerated version of the original.

Nike doesn't have to get it right cause the only thing that matters to them is profit. Only way they would fix molds is if they thought the consumers wouldn't buy their butchered retros any more.

I swear I was gonna do that at one point when I saw them in her size but I just knew that it wouldn't be appreciated.

She's a hipster and wears a lot of black. I thought the scream greens would look nice on her and she's tall and slender so runners would looks so good on her. She just was like "oh these are nice but I'm not big on low tops babe" and then proceeded to throw on her Ewing 33 Hi's

Ouch

Not sure why that made me laugh so much

 nah it is kinda funny. It's cause all her friends are the "hipster jogging pants" type. If she's not wearing heels she's throwing on some hi tops, she don't know nothing bout huaraches. She owns an OG pair of Taxi's though so she gets some cool points.

That wouldn't ever be a steal. That's paying retail.

With how much higher than retail a lot of pairs can get on the resale market, I do get what you meant, but I've always known a steal to mean significantly less than retail. What you described would just be a good deal.

Oh.. so they're two different things? lol

Steal to me is someone on cl who dont know anybetter sellin stuff real cheap.

Or those nikes at ross or tj maxx.

Trainerendors at footaction for 40 was a steal imo

Absolutely, it's just that like most "sneaker terminology," people use the word steal frivolously and it kind of lost its original meaning.

Dudes are so used to cashing out on every release they miss out on that they forgot what a REAL steal is and just start throwing it around whenever they're able to get something for even a little bit under "market value."

SCKid gave solid examples of what a real steal is.

Nowadays, it seems like paying box price is a steal. And now with social media, it's damn near impossible to stumble upon a pair of kicks that are below retail. The second something ends up on clearance, it's posted all over IG and Twitter (not even gonna lie, though, I've gotten stuff via those methods at times). But I'm in agreement, it's ridiculous that paying 170 for some Jordans is considered a "good deal" now. Sneakers done got outta hand.

I always chuckle in pick up thread when people trying to pump up their purchase with "picked up for a steal, only slightly above retail."

Oh okay, now I understand, repped!

On the other hand, JB's going all out with their releases next year. Now, with those news regarding the OG 1 Lows, it seems that I'm torn between the B/W OG 1's and B/red lows. Which is better?

...better?

You're talking about two different shoes both holding their own merits. Their worth its in the eyes of the beholder.
