I was SUPER bored the other day at work when I was going through the "Never Change is Jays best song ever" thread and started listening to his albums tryna figure out what I thought was his best song. After not being able to come up with a clear answer I decided to kinda rank all his songs from his solo albums. I did it with 3 categories, Great, Average and Bad.

I know this is opinionated but having 2 22's and a week ago listed as bad is just wrong..

And I know what girls like is EASILY top 10 on the worst jay-z songs list.. 
 
What's to discuss
He only has 3 albums worth talking about
Other albums are either mediorce
Or just straight trash
Dude is the most overrated black rapper
Eminem being the most overrated rapper period
Only reason jay had a lane is because biggie and PAC wasn't here
And we needed ANYTHING to fill that void
If dmx was on that white he could easily be in jay z spot now
With his movies and music plus he has that realness to him
We all know jay a fake phoney scum bag
I get tired of y'all hyping him up
Inb4 duece and anti come flame me

Also nas got more classics than dude
Now that's a discography u should be breaking down

You cannot say opinion and wrong in the same sentence lol. Great thing about music is that it's subjective. We don't all hear things the same. That's why this is a discussion thread. I'm just showing what I put together, i'm sure nobody's list will be 100% the same. I'm hoping that mine will lead to other people making and posting one.

And FTR, I actually groove to "I Know What Girls Like" more than I skip it, so I don't rank it as bad. It would be one of those that barely makes the cut tho lol

The reason why music is even more subjective, in my opinion, is because we attach memories to certain time periods/songs...so it may be you had a great memory that occurred during some of these songs time period, and it skews your judgment. Kinda like how BP1 came out on 9/11...you get the gist of it.
 
Where do you see "3 good songs" on AG? You mean 3 GREAT songs. AG as a whole album is top 3/4 for Jay but I dont think many songs are great/classics.

It's also not easy to categorize the songs the way I did cuz you have some that are better than others in the same category and vice versa. I forced myself to do it this way so it would be a better discussion and eliminate me making 5 or six categories.

Very true. Also peoples ages. If you were a teen when say Dynasty came out and it was the 1st CD you purchased, of course back then you bumped it non stop and wore it out. That album is gonna hold a different place in your heart than someone else.

Both coulda been replaced by lyrical exercise and I wouldn't have been mad
 
It's all opinions and everyone's list would be different.  I agree with about 75% of his picks

BUT

 I can see where this is going, so imma quietly ......  
 
I'd be more than happy to email anyone the spreadsheet who disagrees with mine and wants to contribute.

I think it would have been better to do Great, Good, Average, and Bad but props on the effort anyways OP, though I disagree with a lot of your opinions.
