Nike Free Trainer 3.0 different versions

I saw these in the Nike store last week and wanted to get them. They are the Free Trainer 3.0s:

But when I searched nike.com to see the colors, they were all a different design:

Did they change it and why?

The black/blue pair (the ones on top) are the 2013 model and the volt/black pair are the 2014 model.
