2015 NY Knicks offseason thread, Los Almighty appreciation thread

I'm not sold on Mudiay either. I like him but something about him makes me nervous. I wanted to trade down once Phila made the pick.

all i keep telling myself is i think we are overhyping Mudiay and he will be more along the line of brandon jennings and yeh brandon jennings went on a hot streak at one point last year but he is not who i would want want on the knicks.
Jennings takes off balance jumpers. Mudiay gets to the cup. Where did u get this comparison from?

We were always going to be projected to be a lower seeded playoff squad (if we made the right improvements) whether we drafted Mudiay or not.

All these kids are young....they were going to struggle at some point regardless of how NBA ready they are. That's part of the learning curve, especially as a PG.

We got two young guys to work with, with another one stashed overseas who is already familiar with our 4th pick.

The problem is y'all told yourselves it has to be this kid. Once again forcing your expectations to be reality and the only way. What's even funnier is that Phil made plenty of mistakes prior to this and y'all were willing to let it slide because "it's Phil :pimp: "

He does one thing you finally don't like and now he's incompetent.

really gunna hold injuries against Gallo?

I am actually worried about Porzingis longevity though. Real talk, dude could wear out his joints and stuff attempting to put on muscle. His frame looks like it isn't built for that and he should just be allowed to grow more naturally. I hope they just work on his core and athletic/functional strength and conditioning as opposed to trying to force him to be a body builder that his frame isn't made for. I'd rather see him be super light+agile on his feet and very springy.

PorSpringis
Why not, people in here hold injuries against everyone else. Like for example, STAT, Chandler, and any other Knick in history.

against high schoolers, he is going to think twice about going to the hole in the league and he will be putting up a lot more jumpers. he won't be able to break down NBA guards like he did in high school and he didn't have those big bodies down low to protect the rim either.

Real talk, how blacked out drunk did you get when we picked Zinger? Type of dude I could see forcing you to rip 5 shots of Georgi in the Forest Hills gardens.

That's acary accurate to what ive done before lol. But it would be running around on austin street haha. I wish i lived in the gardens.

Last night i drank some jameson in the apt and cursed at the TV while my GF told me to calm down because om scaring the dog.

Times change. Knicks stink doesn't.

The kid is built he get to the rack just fine. Still no idea where u got the Jennings comparison from

I'm just saying I would rather have the reliable 22 year old floor general and the high upside 19 year old big man than vice versa.

Especially because there were no centers available in the draft to trade THJR for that are nearly as good and as good of a fit as Jerian is at point.

I said it a million times, I think Phil did it right. Filled our 2 most gaping holes in one night and left us with other holes to fill (2 guard and forward) that will be much easier and cheaper to address than PG and C will be in free agency.

with how deep the pg position is and how much responsibility the position holds

mudiay wouldnt be able to survive in ny
you keep blabbering that and you're so wrong. you should be more worried about the latvian who was booed the second his name was called rather than the kid who has shown his mental toughness playing in china as an 18 year old with no friends or family.

All I'm saying is Mudiay has been playing against who???? And everyone is anointing him as a franchise savior. You watch a few tapes of his "highlights" against people who were in high school and a few games over seas. There has been plenty of people who dominated in high school with NBA bodies that just didn't pan out to be who everyone thought they'd be in the league.

“I don’t like being labeled soft,” Porzingis told Adrian Wojnarowski Yahoo Sports. “I’m very hungry. I love the game. I’ve got to prove to coaches and GMs that I’m not soft just because I’m from Europe. They need to see that I’m not just some skinny white guy, that I’m going to be there fighting. They’ll need to see that I’m a worker who’s going to play hard, and play tough.”

“I make the guys around me a lot better,’’ Grant said. “I get them open looks. We’ll be ready to compete right away. … The triangle is for high IQ players and I feel I’m one of those. I’ll pick up on it quickly and help the guys around me.”

I love these guys already.

Who doubted KD?
Same thing can't be said about Porzingis?

everyone doubted KD because of his size and his weight... as if they've never seen one bit of his college games... the weight means nothing in the NBA dude is a slasher and a scorer and he can assist now Porzingis is getting the same bad rap because of his size he reminds me so much of Durant

I hear the same doubt about Porzingas that I heard about Kevin Durant

There was a lot of 'he's too skinny', 'he won't survive in the NBA talk' back then, but that comparison is nutty. Let's let Z-Dog get a few games under his belt before we compare him to Kevin Durant.

A few of these cats probably thought Felipe Lopez was going to be a star in the league. So you can save that talk until they actually get on the court.
