Carmelo Anthony reportedly unhappy with the @nyknicks#NBADraft selections http://t.co/IFSCOL6Thf pic.twitter.com/voQmqtb072

To be honest, it doesn't make sense.

When Melo re-signed with the Knicks, no one said anything about draft pick. We were expecting to get loads of cap space for this off-season. That was Phil's first priority.

I posted tweets. One of them mentioned about Melo.

Phil was asked if he thought about Carmelo when picking KP. He said. "Carmelo's always on my mind. He's our favorite son."

There's no way Phil is going to make his best player unhappy. Melo approved the Tyson Chandler trade. He was told about it before the Knicks announced the trade. I bet Melo knew the pick was coming before the announcement as well. I am not going to bother with rumors.

The free agency period is a big test for Phil.

people may have not seen KD becoming a megastar but everyone knew he would get buckets from day one. Not at all comparable to Kristaps.

If everyone knew KD would get buckets from day one why the heck would you pick Greg Oden. Dudes didn't know anything about KD from day one and I can attest to that.. had 'em like :nerd:

Here's the problem with the Kristaps pick.

1. Melo
2. Melo needs to win now.
3. Without Melo, the Knicks don't have FA pull, they should have. Even with cap space. Even with Melo, Knicks don't have the pull in FA that they should have
4. Kristaps needs a few years to develop. And by develop, he needs many minutes in the game. Needs to get in game feel.
5. Rather than having someone you can sell to bigger names in Free Agency, you turned every big name off with that pick.
6. You guys will sign Monroe & West to win now. Stunt Kristaps development another couple years. By that time Melo is gone, and unless there's an absolute surprise that no one can possibly forsee. Kristaps isn't bringing in FAs. Just like Dirk never brought in the FAs.

The Kristaps pick was an unmitigated disaster.

Jerian Grant trade was beautiful.

The Guillermo trade wasn't bad, but not great. He's a European big with good Offense, and bad defense. Maxed out athletically. Could develop, could not. Sounds familiar?

I want the Knicks to be good. I'm a NYer. I want basketball in NY to mean something.. But so far Phil has sold you guys lakefront property in Idaho for $12mil a year.

probably because you can't teach 7 feet and many considered Oden one of the best defensive big prospects in a long, long time.

Dirk, Gasol Bros, AK, Tony Parker, Ginobli, Vucevic, Gobert, Pekovic and some other foreign players that we didn't know how their games would translate and a few of those weren't stars per say overseas. So I'm holding on to this hope.

it's as if the scouts couldn't see that Greg Oden couldn't handle his height... like how did they expect him to move on the court? Some things are impossible.

Apparently this second round pick might be on the Knicks next season. Makes that trade a lot more intriguing

the one thing Kris has going for him is his shot he's a finesse big who's not physically strong enough to bang down low so he could hover around the perimeter & hit the open shot.

i don't know this for a fact but he looks like he'd excel in a PnR system or a pick & pop.

What on earth are you talking about? That was considered one of the deepest drafts ever at the time. Oden was considered a generational big man. He would have went #1 in any draft of the decade excluding 2003. Traditionally, NBA teams always choose big over small. That's not an indictment on KD. He set college basketball on fire for a year. What you do mean "dudes didn't know anything about him from day one"?

the people I were around were hating., they loved Greg Oden. Greg Oden sucked in college and he sucked in the NBA . stats mean nothing. you can lose it all in a day.
