You don't lose light or xp already into the piece. You cannot reforge the light level of the piece. Only effects the non-exotic attributes of the armor. I posted a couple spots above when someone rolled 3 times and their results.

I'm down tonight maybe if you guys are on. I was playing yesterday and posted that I was but typical NT you guys fronted.
I don't know if I can play tonight because my girl was giving me the look yesterday because this stupid game became so addicting to me.
I've been playing for the past 2-3 days non stop and now I see you guys going to raid next week but I have to get my weight up a little more to make the 300-320 cut I'm at 290 now.
So I might have to behave myself today and put the game down we'll see. Damn game made me miss the first 7 innings of the Mets win last night
If you guys are on tonight late EST time I might be able to rock because she does school work and I could wait until she goes to sleep.

We didn't clear the last room quick enough. We did it with like 14 seconds left the second time. Clutch revive from @bigj505 to shotgun work on a Captain and a Cabal.

Is there anyway to tell (app or website) that shows what fragments EACH CHARACTER is missing? I have a total of 45 calcified fragments but my titan only has 43 of em, my warlock picked up 2 that my titan hasnt gotten yet. I dont want to wait until next week to get my Touch of Malice, i want it now! lolol

don't u need 45 to get it? Just get one and switch it between characters, you gonna stress yourself out trying to track the ones you are missing.

Just a sidenote on this, I just got my ToM the other day...am I the only one underwhelmed?
Aside from the raid...I don't really see me ever reaching for it in the future.

yeah thats what I intend on doing which is why my titan has 43 of em already, just sucks trying to track down 1 fragment i havent gotten. Cant do the agonarach rune because bungie is lame and doesnt fix it yet and i still need the last tier 3 court of oryx
as for the actual gun... I want it specifically for the raid.. Like shotta said, I also run Relic for my clan and having the ToM will help insanely especially with clearing adds during the bomb sequence

I mean...it is a weapon we get from raid kills, so of course it is good in the raid. We have not seen what HM of the raid will entail, so it could become more useful. It is definitely a situational weapon (like many are), but it is undoubtedly, the best gun for the Daughters and Oryx that is out there. How it performs on them alone is worth getting it.
You can use it on other strikes and missions though, you just have to be careful and not kill yourself. I hear it can be effect in rumble as well.
