**Official Kendrick Lamar Thread 4th Studio Album ''DAMN.''Out Now**

I don't get why people think this is a forced Kendrick record. It also sounds to me like something an artist like Kendrick would make.

I agree with others who have also said to wait and listen to how this fits in with the whole project. As we know Kendrick isn't about making singles to attract mainstream radio; he makes music he likes with the message he wants. This is clearly not like what is mainly on the radio these days so I don't get the whole "logic" behind Interscope forcing him to make a positive record.

Sadly into today's hip-hop climate positivity and lyricism are frowned upon.

All of THIS

Weird. I listened a few hours ago and I don't remember a single word he said. And I never want to hear it again.

lol no one's hating on Kendrick for being lyrical, positive or motivating. The song just sounds like some new age Eminem stuff - and I mean that in the most offensive way possible. Positivity means nothing if it SOUNDS bad. The breakdown at the end sounds dope tho. But the song sounded better on 2nd listen so maybe its a grower.

Not feeling it as a single, but I'm sure it'll fit on the album fine though. Like dude above said,  this may be in the realm of I'm real.

Honestly this feels like it should have been a throwaway track, or a bonus track.

It's ok, not lyrically great (for Kendrick), but not bad either. The productions is dope.

But something tells me this will be track 1, a setup for the album. I'm assuming this album will have a theme or storyline like GKMC.

Kendricks in a good spot if he's garnering this type of feedback from every little thing he doe.

Only the elite can do that. Just like when Jay used to drop a throwaway that would spark mass conversation.

Song isn't nearly as bad as a lot of comments I've seen  has a fun vibe to it without being corny, but like the majority of singles the come out, I'll more than likely skip it when the album comes

Nice uplifting song really don't know how much I'll end up playing it based off my first listen but I like it.

I mean it isn't a good single to hype people up, but it isn't terrible.

Only the chorus sounds forced, like a last-ditch effort to make it catchy for the radio. The rest of the lyrics are good.

I think if he puts this after some dark tracks on the album, it'll sound pretty good.

Gonna act like this track never happened, you still good in my books Kendrick :pimp:

It's aight, more than likely it will grow on me once I see how it fits on the album. Has an old soul feeling to it too. :pimp:

Because Em's best records had content with the likes of him killing his mom and raping his ex wife. Nobody was trying to hear that **** from him. Kendrick has been making positive music for quite some time.

those records were made out of frustration from his relationship with them, that's why some people related to it. Em been making motivational music as well for a while. it's been nearly 5 years since Recovery, after that dropped he made Lighters from that BME project and MMLP2 had some of those records as well.

I think it sounds good...

but I can't get jiggy to this.

sounds like something Will I Am will make. You know, those joints he makes specifically to be played on TV.

Nt's turn on Kendrick has begun

The Recipe was great IMO, they just dropped the ball on the music video (imo that still matters to me), it needed that Still D.R.E. video type of treatment

Yeah, and Recovery+everything he made after has sucked.

Honestly reminds me of when Outkast first dropped "Rosa Parks" and people were kind of confused, but when you heard the album, it fit. Track isn't even bad, it's just not what people wanted him to do or what they were expecting.
