Official Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG Thread

Yeah the red is what was questionable. They crease ugly fam, like cheap mids. That's the only reason I say Knicks are better really. They feel more like leather, and unrelated to the uppers the tongue is plush

im no go hard for jordan 1s but man..these are great. i really want another pair to wear for the rest of the year.

The quality is pretty much the same as the 2013 black/red highs and black toes. Definitely not as nice as the shadows or black/white's.

Red Portions are pleather on the Lows. Red portion on the highs were not pleather. The highs give you a crease when you press down on them, the lows do not. Highs overall are softer.

The shoe was done right other than real leather, so I don't mind too much.

it is what it is at this point and i wore mine for 4 hours to a theme park and they were very comfy (with a good insert that is) and the creasing issue is not bad on mine at all. Overall i am very happy with my purchase and cant wait for the neutral greys!

Nike uses synthetic leather on about 99% of their shoes bro. They're all pleather. The red pleather on these is just closer to the plastic side of the spectrum.

Please don't post pics...

I don't think I can resist them, and I really need to slow down. Hopefully I'm offshore when they drop

See Ive always been under the impression that real leather temporarily creases when you push down on it, and goes back to form when you release your finger. Pleather does not do that, and many shoes have pleather. But most of the og 1s from last year naturally creased when you pushed down on them, which is indicative of real leather. Maybe a lower grade, but real leather nonetheless. Am I missing something.

I can't figure if the red part it it's real leather or not, in Europe they must place a sticker inside the product to indicate the materials. In the lows the sticker indicates for the upper part the leather sign and the turbot sign, usually indicate other materials, but it can be for the tongue that is nylon.

^I feel like shoes that are produced now are in no way actual leather. I remember being able to open the box of a new pair of shoes, and smelling the leather similar to the scent of a woman's hand bag. Now days all these shoes smell like chemicals. Maybe they are low grade leather but I highly doubt that. I can smell the leather on my Vegas 1s, '09 Shadows, Cinco SBs, but the '13 OG 1s don't have the same aroma. That's the best way I can describe my stance on leather vs. pleather.

I wouldn't be surprised if the new remastered stuff does have real leather, but low grade leather mixed with chemicals and plastic for treatment/coloring. I think some of the variation probably depends on the batch of low quality leather they get in before they treat it. The biggest disguise is this "tumbled leather." People associate that with good quality, but they all smell like chemicals now.

Is the toe box for these Bred lows better than those Black/Gold Melo 1's? That toe box material felt terrible and stiff.

I've said this plenty of times in the Remaster thread. Folks are blinded by this tumbled leather. Remove that feature and what do you have? The same retro as recent past with a higher msrp. :smh:

The toe box on those PE Melo's were some kind of felt/velvet material. Or are you talking about the lower toe piece?

I was talking about the gold toe box on the Melo's I's. Those just felt stiff to me almost like regular mid 1's. I'll be getting my pair in the mail soon. Just anxious to know. Hah.
