Houston Rockets Thread - Preseason vs Spurs (Friday)

Good lord man, finally  :pimp: The bench really showed up huge tonight, especially down the stretch. Good to see they held up Harden as he had another semi-so so game against the Clippers. Loved seeing them withstand that late Clippers run. Feels good man :smokin Lunar New Year jerseys >>>>>

I feel like the injuries to Stevie, Yao, T-Mac, and Dwight all are signs of the universe balancing out because of how lucky the Rox were in the 1990s with MJ's retirement. The only rust that was knocked off from 94/95 in the minors is whatever happened from the time he joined the team in '95 to the time he pushed off of Russell in Salt Lake.

Like, none of the stars in the past 15 years that Houston has had have been able to stay healthy long enough where the entire team's roster is maximizing that chance to make a playoff run.

Stay on the court, 13eard.

The bulls were lucky to not have to face dream in the finals. There was nobody on that team that had any hope of checking him and people seem to forget we still had Mad Max on the first title run who was a tenacious defender. While no one could truly shut down Jordan Maxwell always played him hard and made him work for everything. Not to mention he was crazy himself and just the perfect antidote for guarding Jordan.

MJ's legacy would've taken a hit. Shoes would've been Starbury's had Hakeem put his lights out. Jordan would've been begging for Chamillionaire's autograph.

I tell people all the time everytime they try and say Jordan would of had 8. The man Jordan himself basically admits it wouldnt have been easy against those Rockets teams and he knows what it is. His legacy would of def took a hit . Hakeem alone would of put up record numbers those 2 finals against those Bulls Centers

It would have been really close, but we know for sure dream would have cooked Cartwright and Wennington

 easily

Also, we dodged a bullet when there were talks of picking up Rondo. Thank God that dude is not on the squad. Probably would of got into it with Harden and McHale at this point already

Massive bullet dodged, but the national media are trying to sweep that under the rug like Dallas didn't goof  still a very good player, but Jesus, we don't need that from a personality perspective.

Yeah Mark Cuban & Dalls def chased a bit too much. I was mad about Parsons being gone too but Cuban goof'd with that and now Rondo. Rather them then us :pimp:

hate to beat on this horse, but I just watched the entire clippers game again.

defense: on the first play of the game the clips ran a basic set they always run. We had Ariza out there stumbling off picks all over the place. It just looks like we don't have a consistently agreed upon understanding of what guys should do in certain scenarios. (run under screen, hedge hard, help off this guy, stay on this guy, etc.) You got two guys chasing the same man because we didn't know ahead of time what every player would do, relative to each other, in this scenario. This is the exact reason Dame hit us for the game winner in the playoffs.

i think what keeps our defense at a decently high level is that we in general have thrown more individual defensive bodies on the floor. and have given them a high level approach defensively. we've certainly increased our defensive talent. That's without doubt, but my qualm is that we should be able to take our defense to an even better level with coaching all the granular scenarios considering all of our guys' individual abilities. The actual elite defenses do it. You have to bring out strengths in guys. Not just throw them out there.

on that one play, ariza ran into terrence jones on the first screen, then chased reddick across the court just to run into DMO which opened a gaping hole for a dunk by Deandre Jordan. Boys looking like actual crash dummies...

So regardless of what we want to call this defense, we have to figure that out to be respectable contenders imo.

Terrance Jones, man. He's been great recently.

Good win, but the game should not have been that close lol
