like it or not theres a human aspect to reffing. if you want to get on a refs good side dont spend the entire season (and past couple years) constantly crying about calls and flopping

would be hilarious if something like this happened to them in the playoffs

meh...i want refs to officiate the game not become a part of it. That's what the best refs know how to do. She obviously hasn't gotten there yet.

If you go back through the career of every single NBA ref in history, go to their rookie year, I guarantee you'll find some horrendous calls

Her career may end up being horrible, just saying

Officials get criticized every night, rookie or veteran. I'm just saying, I don't recall an athlete outright questioning if "this might not be for him or her". Regardless of the gender. If there have been cases like I said, I'd look at it entirely differently

Does Tim Duncan and Tony Parker holding guns on a dude dressed up as Joey Crawford count?

Being a rookie doesn't absolve you of making absolutely horrible calls that cost people thousands of dollars or change the outcome of a game (fouling out Cousins). She's awful and she's sensitive. Joey Crawford rolling over in his grave right now.

meh, a spurs player could find the cure to cancer and it wouldnt be front page news

for better or worse everything about the spurs franchise is under the radar

That's nowhere near my point though

got 'em!

I really need Bill Simmons to shut the ____ up. His opinion of anything associated with Doc Rivers is irrelevant since he clearly hates the guy. Talk about somebody being in their feelings. I'm sure he watched Ms. Holtkamp's display last night with glee.

So Glad he's no longer on the ESPN NBA broadcasts...
Agree again. Bill Simmons just shout not talk about the Clippers. He always comes off sounding like a petulant person with a grudge.
So yall just gonna ignore that Zach Lowe said the same thing? It's not even a secret that the Clips are the biggest whiners in the league.

I'll just assume yall are Clipper fans...

I Can't believe CP3 is that socially unaware to say something like that about a female referee. :smh:

I mean it's shockingly tone deaf, how do you knowingly put your self on the summer jam screen like that?

the clips were pushing her buttons and mad that they were getting their butts kicked. gm was over with before all the whistles. maybe one of them was a quick T, but the others were appropriate

ya acting like other refs dont do this type of stuff

clips the biggest bunch of whiners in the gm
blake and cp0 leading the way

when denadre questions every foul he commits, cmon bruh, you slapped dude in the head

Chris Paul was the main player campaigning for Michele Roberts as the new executive director of the National Basketball Players Association.

He's sexist tho......
i don't think he's sexist per se, but he did have a moment where sexism was displayed. it was pretty clear.

like 5 techs were handed out to a team that was playing like garbage to begin with but he went out of his way to single her out and question her authority & credentials with just a few words. like amel22 intelligently said if it was a male ref he probably wouldn't have questioned his authority or ability to ref the game

Not a clipper fan at all

Zach Lewis didn't call for Doc Rivers to be fired by the celts...praise him win the celts were winning...and then criticize him for going to the clippers. Simmons has it in for Doc, always has, and makes no effort to hide his personal dislike. Why would anything he has to say about Doc Rivers be remotely relevant.

Get off your knees Lauren, you're blowing the game. Apparently you can't use pronouns anymore. I hate what this world has become.

The key quote that is now being run with here is “this might not be for her”. HER! Illegal, because that’s SEXIST!  No, I only wish I were joking.  All he was saying is that she is a rookie ref and maybe, right now, she is in a little over her head. Projecting motive, that Chris Paul is talking about her refereeing  skills because she’s a female and not talking about referee skills because she, gasp, might just be a bad referee is such a joke. Ever had a job where you felt overwhelmed and tried to exude confidence when you have little? Yes of course, we all have. Well if you’re a ref it usually comes in the form of controlling the game and calling Technical fouls. The NBA has played roughly 1,500 games this season. There have been 486 Technical fouls called, or what comes out to be around 1 in every 3 games. There were FIVE technical fouls last night. Now I’ll admit, Matt Barnes is sort of a scumbag and Technical foul connoisseur, but saying simply that the moment may be too big and the whistle a little too tight is not wrong, it’s just stating a fact. She’s a rookie, I would expect a rookie ref to receive criticism.

Also, if we really want to get into facts here, Lauren Holtkamp is the same ref that made this call a few weeks ago. Tie game, and she fouls out Boogie Cousins on a complete obvious flop by Tyson Chandler.

That’s a really bad call. It has nothing to do with gender, it has to do with a rookie ref not understanding game situations and how the low post is played in 2015. A big moment when a ref needs to be at his/her absolute best and she blew it. It’s a bad call and it may illustrate that she is not ready for NBA refereeing not because of her gender but because she’s just not ready for NBA refereeing.
you know you completely invalidated anything you wrote after your first sentence, right?

At this point you either love or hate Bill Simmons because there isn't a middle ground

I know him and Doc made up over that whole issue so I don't think this is a case of Bill taking advantage of being able to **** on someone

I guess that lady didn't realize CP3 was President of the Players Union

And....

@BillSimmons The Clippers have won 12 playoff games in 3 years. They act like they are 5-time champs. That's why the refs keep sticking it to them.
@BillSimmons You put an overmatched ref crew on national TV with the entitled Clips on the road and *****ing at them and it's gonna go badly, it just is.
‏@ZachLowe_NBA @BillSimmons Call around on them, and you quickly discover/are reminded they are probably the most loathed team w/in the league.
@JeffZillgitt @ZachLowe_NBA @BillSimmons Chronic complainers. Team leads league in techs and has a coach who isn't shy about complaining.

:smokin :smokin :smokin

wish there was a lakers fan like him on tv, always found his shots at the lakers when magic was at the table hilarious

Should Memphis and New Orleans be in the East, I believe yes. But with the new Playoff format, it keeps 35-40  win teams like Brooklyn, Miami and Charlotte this season, from being in the playoffs. My point the best teams 16 teams deserves to be in the playoffs and should have been done sooner.

Huh? He never even mentioned Doc. That was the USA Today reporter. You read those tweets wrong b...

True, but you can't say that he might not have said the same thing about a male referee under the same circumstances. Seems to me a little unfair to try and get in his head and conclude he only said that because it was a woman referee. If we assume that it was sexist just because it wasn a woman involved, isn't that stereotyping in it's own right?

You realize your defense is the equivalent to "no you're racist for thinking I'm racist" right? You don't need to use a slur or be 100% obvious about it.

Let's be real - CP wouldn't say this about any other ref and plenty of refs have a quick trigger on Techs.
