What senorroboto2k5 senorroboto2k5 said. Doesn't come off the books until April. So not really. Unless two non-playoff teams are making an April trade and we use the money saved.


But there could always be a buyout, which would happen immediately.

What's crazy is had he not got injured, what it would have meant.

He pretty much carried a mediocre Suns team in '11-12 to within a couple games of an 8th seed. 12.5 & 10.7 played 62 games in a shortened season where there were back-to-back-to-backs.

hopefully this means he will spend more time visiting his parents and ill see him around the neighborhood 
 
For clarity's sake:

DISABLED PLAYER EXCEPTION -- This exception allows a team which is over the cap to replace a disabled player who will be out for the remainder of that season (it can also be granted in the event of a player's death). This exception is granted by the league, based on an application from the team and a determination by an NBA-designated physician that the player is substantially more likely than not to be unable to play through the following June 15.

If this exception is granted, the team can acquire one player via free agent signing, trade or wavier claim, to replace the disabled player:

  • The team may sign a free agent for one season only, for 50% of the disabled player's salary or the amount of the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, whichever is less.
  • The team may trade for a player in the last season of his contract only (including any option years)4, who is making no more than 50% plus $100,000 of the disabled player's salary, or the amount of the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception plus $100,000, whichever is less.
  • The team may claim a player on waivers who is in the last season of his contract only (including any option years), who is making no more than 50% of the disabled player's salary, or the amount of the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception, whichever is less.

It probably won't end up having a great impact on the Lakers, but it's worth knowing.
 
P doesn't like him. But I don't want him playing offense don't even want him looking at the ball on offense, we just need perimeter defense.


But because Clarkson & Henry will have to play down a position for some minutes, it leaves some time open for a 3. Could get Ronnie Brewer for minimum.
 
Aint gonna lie i dont even feel bad about it. He could've had his money and made both parties happy by retiring last year but kinda screwed us over. Lakers gotta get rid of him now. No use in him taking up a roster space for no reason. Thanks, but you gotta go.

I've always liked Brewer, but I think he's done. Ever since he had the knee surgery, he hasn't been able to stick with a team.
