I say what's up. I notice if you walk past them confidently the air all of a sudden gets thicker, and eye contact with out a word can lead to trouble. Since people in groups are more likely to act a fool.

I remember my first few experiences meeting REAL hood dudes through mutual friends when I was in my middle teens. Some dudes are crazy
I don't know how some y'all grew up in that environment did it .

I realize some dudes are loose cannons. I've been tested a few times. Best thing to do is calmly let them know you don't give a **** either and keep it moving. If that don't work, knuckle up and put the boosters on.

In high school my best friend almost got jacked and stomped out by some Crips for some Oreosbut he told them "I'm not giving you these Oreos, I paid for them and it's not right for you to take them" and one of them said "Man I respect that. You don't show fear" and these Crips proceeded to leave him alone for the rest of high school.
