Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- "'God is great,'" the Taliban militants exclaimed, as they roared through the hallways of a Peshawar, Pakistan, school.

Then, 14-year-old student Ahmed Faraz recalled, one of them changed the narrative.

" 'A lot of the children are under the benches,' " a Pakistani Taliban member said, according to Ahmed. " 'Kill them.' "

By the time the hours-long siege at Army Public School and Degree College ended early Tuesday evening, at least 137 people -- most of them children -- were dead, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province Information Minister Mushtaq Ghani said. More than 100 were injured, many of them suffering gunshot wounds.

The death toll does not include the attackers. Mohammed Khurrassani, spokesman for Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan, or Pakistan Taliban, said the six militants scaled the school's walls around 10 a.m. (midnight ET), intent on killing older students there.

These Taliban had "300 to 400 people ... under their custody" at one point, Khurrassani said.

They were eventually met by Pakistani troops who pushed through the school complex building by building, classroom by classroom. By 4 p.m., they'd managed to confine the attackers to four buildings. A few hours later, Peshawar police Chief Mohammad Aijaz Khan said that all of them were dead.

Still, the ordeal isn't over.

Pakistani authorities remained inside the school in Peshawar, a city about 120 kilometers (75 miles) from the country's capital, Islamabad, looking for survivors, victims and improvised explosive devices planted to make the carnage even worse.

The story continues on many fronts, such as the military's continued offensive against militants in northwest Pakistan and Peshawar hospitals where many young people are fighting for their lives.

In a tweet, military spokesman Gen. Asim Bajwa called the attack a "ghastly act of cowardice in killing innocents" that, in his view, proves that the Taliban are "not only enemies of (Pakistan) but enemies of humanity."

I wonder how many schools and hospitals we've 'accidentally' hit with drone missile strikes.

although we are far from innocent when it comes to the middle east, what is your point?

i think a more constructive question to ask is why would the taliban see fit to slaughter so many kids? what possible goal does that achieve? in the name of what? religion?

:smh: if you want to talk about senseless...

malala is a brave girl man for real :smh:
Bomb meant for militants kills 20 children in Yemen, officials say
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
 • One car bomb hit Houthi militants; another exploded next to a school bus, officials say
 • Both bombs, apparently from al Qaeda fighters, were meant for Houthi militants, officials say
 • Houthis, al Qaeda have been fighting in Yemen for months

Sanaa, Yemen (CNN) -- Two car bombs killed at least 31 people, including 20 children, in central Yemen's Radaa city when suspected al Qaeda fighters targeted Houthi militants Tuesday, senior security officials and locals told CNN.

One car bomb struck a Houthi gathering point, but the other did not make it to the target and instead blew up next to a bus that was carrying children home from school, officials said.

All the killed children were under the age of 12, said Osama Sari, a prominent pro-Houthi activist.

Eleven Houthi fighters were killed, an Interior Ministry official said.

Eyewitnesses told CNN that the death toll within Houthi lines exceeded 18. At least a dozen others were injured, among them six in critical condition, medical sources in Radaa told CNN.

Radaa was an al Qaeda stronghold that fell to Houthi fighters after clashes in October that killed hundreds from both sides. Al Qaeda has since intensified its attacks on Houthi targets, conducting daily attacks killing hundreds of Houthis and innocent civilians.

Houthis follow the Zaidi sect of Islam and are considered Shiite Muslims by al Qaeda, a Sunni Muslim terrorist network.

Sari said that most of the killed were children and that the attack holds the hallmarks of al Qaeda.

"The suicide car bombs were supposed to directly hit the Houthi camp. When they failed to reach the core target, many innocent children lost their lives," Sari said.
Killing innocent kids is what's hot right now ??

Terrible tragedy

*Waits for the apologists and useful idiots who care more about the image of islam or blaming america than what happened to the victims*

The religion needs a massive reformation. Its that simple. Meh. Easier to say its a mossad fake flag or some ****.

That drone strike deflection is corny. I'm almost certain he was getting up in arms at some of the idiots deflecting in the mike brown thread (understandably so) but is doing the same in this thread. (If I got him mixed up with another member then my mistake)

The taliban deserve to die and i hope they burn in hell.

F them and their god.

They don't view them as their own though. They just got the backing to execute their neighborhood and tribal beefs.

Have you ever seen drones in real life???? I have they are way more accurate than any piece of machinery available. Slim to none human error it's something like a 2 percent chance that there would be a misfire of some sort. And school and hospitals and mosques are off limits unless direct fire is coming from within those facilities and even then we don't bomb them. We send a team to shoot if they can or invade the building.
