What is the appeal of music festivals like Coachella, Ultra, Glastonbury?

Are you there strictly for the music and the variety of performers

These things usually last a couple days.
Call me a party pooper, but i can't stand crowds of that size

I can see the appeal of a couple acts, but not much more than that

Is it about meeting people
What are the chances you're keeping in touch with these people after the festival

I assume the appeal is to have fun and see your favorite or new artists perform you may have not given a chance before. There's bad in just about everything if you look hard enough playa. Also I do understand what you mean by the crowd size but hey some people are just good/love that atmosphere.

Lots of good music for a decent price.

Drugs.

Sex.

Personally, I'm not about that big crowd life. And I damn sure ain't camping anywhere. Festivals = waste of money, IMO. Especially now that it's the cool thing to do. Not even trying to see 'Kast with a bunch of 20-yr olds.

they used to be fun, i lived in palm springs until 2 months ago.

coachella WAS fun, then it just turned into a backdrop for instagram pics,

id rather go to lollapalooza or bonaroo, im not into the horrible EDM scene nowadays, last thing i want to do is be around a bunch of frat boys with beads on molly.

rock the bells was dope too back in the day, i saw rage against the machine and it cjanged my life, after that anything was trash.

i saw yeezy by himself at staples center that was cool, the coachella thing has really fallen off IMO.

this coming from a local who lived in the area for 14 years.

Coachella was cool last year. I've never been around so many like wanna be's tho.

But the experience is cool if you go with the right people. I met this girl who lives in Paris now :smokin

You get out of them what you want really

Rock the Bells was really good for a while.

Outkast at Governor's Ball was a great show too. They were really clicking by that time of their tour.

These aren't really the camping type shows that Coachella are. I'd love to go one day. Bonaroo too more realistically

Yambs, Drank, and Music dont know what else you need in life

But I do need to plan out what music festivals I am going to in 2015. Seems like Rock the Bell tour is dead cause of the lack of ticket sales last year

For the common goer I assume it's for the free drugs, yambs (penis for the straight women), and overall fun. Probably even more so if can get in for free.

I understand your criticisms and I know for a fact, sober I'd be fed up a hr in to it fav artists or not.

people that are perfect for this:

Females that live on Instagram, and Males that follow these females that live on Instagram

The lights, the female dress code at these type of events, the elaborate stages, the smoking, drinking, and drugs. Does it not feel like the actual music is placed on the back burner of the event

It's basically an outdoor night club that goes on for a couple days. Tell me I'm wrong. Which is why I can see the appeal for that certain teenage kids age group, but I cannot see the appeal for grown *** man and woman staying there anymore than a couple of hours

I was upset I missed out on Life in Color in Miami this past weekend. The amount of yambs i seen on my Snapchat feeds :x  :smh:

I will go to the next edm event whenever that is...

To be honest, druggies and rapists made it hard to get laid at these festivals. Women may show up, in all go go / raver wear ...but they're not giving it up like they used to. 2008-2012 were the glory years.

...and to be honest if you're older than let's say 28, you're too to be showing up trying to score with the ladies. Unless you're "somebody".

Festivals have become a huge business. And it's true, Bro's and Basic women frequent them to be seen. But it's totally up to you to let that affect your enjoyment of the event. Getting to see Outkast, Kanye, The Muse, new upcoming acts like Flume, some of the greatest times of my life.

For the music, they are still amazing events.

Pros: Drugs (if thats your thing) and loose women

Cons: Camping (if thats not your thing) and obnoxious bros
