Age of your basketball decline?

28-30 for me. After a while it just got to the point where I couldn't do everything I wanted to do on the court without feeling ill effects the next day at work. Still play some "old man" ball with guys my age and older just to shoot the ball and get a sweat.

I have been putting all my energy towards tennis for the past 2 + years

I'm pretty much just a spot-up shooter so I don't really notice a decline. Played ball the other day for the first time in a while and my jumper is as good as it ever was.

My brother's the same way. We aren't the tallest dudes out there but we can hit outside jumpers all day.

As long as you keep your core strong, eat good and avoid any serious lingering leg injuries then you should continue being able to be effective no matter the age

My peak was when I was 31. I was smart, savvy, shot was wet, and athletic enough to get to the basket and finish.

At 34 now I am still nice, but I feel like I have lost a step... especially on defense.

I think a lot of it might be a lack of rest. I need to start listening to my body a la Lebron.

 you abandoned me |I..

We woulda been eating in this tournament we playing in right now..

Had 21 points (5 3's) on Sunday :pimp:

Hopefully I'll be back for the summer.  I had 10 in the first 5 minutes on 4-4 shooting last night and then I started clowning lol.

I'm 29 and played 1 on 1 last Sunday. Bruh...the ghost of Scottie Pippen's back in 97-98 rested on me after about 4 plays. I hadn't played a real game in about a year

Next month's goal is to start back up running. I already lift and changed my eating habits last July and feel great. It's just my cardio is trash.

Yea it happens...when I was married I moved from
Lancaster , then to Pomona and then to Sacramento
. I didn't know anybody and couldn't find any spots where people played so I just stopped playing for like 3 years....

when I started playing again I was fat af...been playing steady now for the past 2 years...
I haven't stopped playing since. I'll play minimum like twice a week now cuz I know the times going to come where I can't play anymore so I try and play as much as I can right now...
I'm from Pomona homie. :pimp: lived right across the street from Fremont Middle School

31 currently. My decline began about 8 yrs ago when i was hoopin on one of those portable baskets (with the big base) and I got fouled, causing my ankle to suffer major ligament damage when I landed with all of my weight on the base. :x lost a little bit of my first step and that wreckless abandon mentality when driving to the hoop. I pick spots and take what the defense allows. Fortunately I have a fairly wet jumper. :pimp: still a solid player overall and now way more cerebral. Just wish I still had my boosties like I did pre injury.

I can literally only shoot 3s and not turn it over. I used to be able to dunk (messing around, not in a game) and be able to drive it into the paint and make a play, but that isn't my game anymore. I don't play much, but if you're a shooter, that never really goes away.

I DO NOT consider myself to be some pro level talent that never made it or never got my chance.

not that I had much to begin with

but lifting weights again and getting stronger everyday is messing with my basketball ability. Like I literally can't dribble or shoot, or even pass which was probably my best attribute.

At least I'm making it up and down the court a lot better than earlier in the month.

To all yall who play basic, i commend u... ive had to change my game.

B4 i was D Rose with the drives to the lane now its more 15-17fts playing the post...

My defense is still grade A though.. i cant move as fastwiththeball... mindand body aren't one anymore... lol

lived off Indian hill and Kingsley.... Gutter apartments but felt like home to me..

Was balling last night till late....noticed begin game in the post all day...as I start getting tired of post play I start shooting... I been told I have the ugliest most unorthodox scoops , finger rolls etc etc but they automatic....
probably my biggest strength to my game besides my strength as I continue declining... Not often I'm not the strongest dude on the court.

I know exactly where you are talking about. I also lived on San Antonio, went to Kingsley Elementary and Emerson middle until I moved to Colton. That's what's up. P Town :pimp:

Been good at maintaining my weight since college, stay active with working out 4-5 times a week.

Turned 30, always been an average-solid kind of player. I don't play above the rim or anything but I still use my speed in full court games. I feel like I've been better with age thankfully, especially with the passing/rebounding aspect.

Have to use Amare Stoudemire type prescription glasses because my eyesight as turned to **** :smh:

I'm good for about 3-4 full court games tops before my lower back becomes tight, and I'm absolutely useless (I have to stretch daily because of it)

I played in a rec league game tonight as a sub.

I had 12 and 5 assists coming off the bench. I hit 4-5 threes and missed a contested layup. Cats want me to keep playing. I feel good at 30.

:pimp:
