#mylaugh

possibly the most summed way of imitating jay's laugh without doing it..lol

Jay & the roc was the hottest in the game when dynasty dropped

99-02 was jays peak yrs, roc at its hottest

96-98 he was making a name for himself

Since 03 hes been a corporate rapper, got with beyonce & switched his image

I brought up record sales because according to this thread that correlates with influence, not that I really think that has anything to do with the topic at hand.

X's first album came out before Vol. 2, which was a #1 Album, and guess what? Jay didnt have a #1 album until Vol. 2. You know what? On top of it, if I remember right DMX brought out 2 albums in '98, both #1 albums and were rotated HEAVY here in NYC. So to say Jay put DMX on is FALSE. And that's the truth, Ruth.

DMX had dudes out here rocking Fox Racing long sleeve shirts in the middle of summer sweating their *** off, breh. Lets not get it twisted.
who said jay put dmx on? If anything irv gotti put them all on.

I and most people prefer Reasonable Doubt, but some of you probably were barely out of diapers when it came out.

I also prefer The Black Album
RD all day... Dead Presidents II...The video had alot of people in it at the end.. Classic NYC moment there.

What's crazy is juvenile and jay have the same number of classic albums
Only 1
And juveniles is better than jays
400 degreez > blueprint
I like juve but theres no way i can agree with 400 Degrees being greater than any Jay Z album.. this made me chuckle..lol

Ok hoop scholar, I'll give you that.

The Dynasty intro is the GOAT intro, ever.

Followed up by the GRODT coin drop.

You cats must be too young to remember the heat that Vol. 1 caught. Bad reviews, didn't sell as expected and cats didn't **** with it. It has some of his best work though but it's flooded with trash. "Where I'm From" is my favorite Jay song. "Lucky Me" and "You Must Love Me" "Real N's" was my joint too.

My guy AntiDope was probably swimming in daddy's sack when Vol. 1 dropped

Vol.1 is FIRE....the best out of all 3 of them. The only track I can say I don't like is "I Know What Girls Like".

The disrespect in this post though :smh:

But I'm saying though fam. Who You Wit, The City is Mine, Imaginary Player, Friend or Foe.

Add what you named, and the album was a classic. Is it Blueprint or Vol 2 monumental? No. But in my opinion, it's one of his best eras at spitting.

BP/Dynasty era is another time when he was lyrically at his best. His best lines came from 95-97 and 00-01.

Ima let it breathe though. Everyone got their opinions.

But he definitely had a prime no matter which we all individually like. And that was my main point to homie who said he doesn't have a prime at all.

Because the year it dropped is the only year you're allowed to listen to albums..... Either way I was alive so your point is moot and I'm well aware of the bad reviews it got. This is the internet nothing is unknown.

But cook on once again man.

Didn't sell as expected, it was his first platinum album.

bad reviews, some of them

I remember copping Vol. 1 in 7th grade. "City is Mine" still gets play in rotation. Album was solid, won't call it trash. I'll tell you what, though. I knew a lot of people saying "Vol. 2? What happened to Vol. 1" Oblivious to one prior. That's how under the radar that album was.

I'm going to start saying, It Was Written wasn't received well because it wasn't Illmatic :nthat:

Exactly. That was the album that had the singles and big budget. The album they were expecting to go multiplatinum with. I know it sold but it didn't do the numbers they expected. Puff wasn't near Vol. 2 because of the numbers that album did.

"The City Is Mine" was always cool to me, so was "Sunshine".

volume 3 (the import version) is my fav Volume..
I ended having to go get a bootleg copy of this after I bought my real copy because it had this on it along with Anything, Is that Yo Chick, and the real track order

Thank goodness for the Internet and iPods allowing me to edit album tracks and whatnot cause this is
