Fox can actually say that Logan is a true standalone film. It leaves for interpretation that every film in the franchise are fictional stories from the comic book world as shown in the trailer, and that the reality is the world we see in Logan.

So in theory, Logan is the only real film of the entire X-MEN franchise.

better than the dumb as **** fan fiction that y'all be suggesting. Either way won't know until I actually see the movie but it's getting crazy reviews which tons of y'all said you would wait for and suddenly that's not enough.

Y'all gonna go see it and it's funny how you front like you won't but y'all do every time
Who has suggested any dumb fan fiction in this thread? The majority of ppl in here have given upon FOX-Men

As for going to see it anyway, I know I'm not. Fox aint get no money off a movie from me in years.

Logan getting the bootleg/online viewing treatment same way DofP, Apocalypse, Deadpool, etc. got.

Bruh

Its Feburary now. This won't be remembered by Nov. I highly doubt they'd submit this movie for the next awards season.

So they have a few films in which the timeline can catch up to this dystopian setting in Logan. Think they'll recast Wolverine in that span?

It's hard to say. On one hand, Logan could be a solo film outside the timeline in an alternate reality. On the other hand if they keep it in the continuity, it could all be erased with Cable. I think of it like the current arc on The Flash. The future with Iris dying keeps changing meaning nothing is set in stone. So with the current films taking place in the past after DOFP, the Logan film could never even take place. Its constantly in flux.

It's a mess but yeah, they could recast him after a Cable time jump or something

I don't think Manigold gave two ***** about a timeline we he made the movie that's probably why it works

Deadpool made the Globes and that came out in Feb *kayneshrug*
Deadpool got nominated for the comedy and musical section.

Notice the title says first supehero flick for best picture nomination. This movie would have to be the best superhero flick ever to be considered just to get nominated and it still wouldn't get an Oscar nomination  Golden Globes can do it, sure.

I'm going into this movie with all continuity/timelines out the window. It's clear that Fox doesn't have a real timeline planned out and they just make stuff up/erase things as they go along so why even bother to try and make sense of it?

And notice you said it feb and won't be noticed by Nov. deadpool came out feb and got out into award season.

I said it won't get an oscar nod I'm just pointing out it coming out in Feb won't be the reason

2 different things going on in my post given what I replied to.

You addressed only one and not even in the right context.

I said it won't be remembered by Nov. not noticed. Which meant they'll be far more best picture contenders by then.

Deadpool was never nominated for best picture but musical/comedy. That's a completely different category and circumstance for movies that would even be considered.

Not buying it til i see/hear stuff from ppl I trust..

Deadpool is the only good fox movie to me, with first class being almost there but it annoys the bejesus out of me that Vaughn didn't just get to start over fresh

The wolverine was dry and butchered the ending completely

IM3 and the recent D.C./WB films soured me on the whole gritty thing

Hope it's good though, wolverine was easily my favorite character growing up

dude I don't care if it's nominated or not, I'm saying it coming out in Feb ain't gonna be the reason do you see the other posts where I say it won't be nominated for ****?[/quote]
You're missing why I'm saying it being released in Feb does matter, still.

I already explained why though so you just gonna have to disagree. I don't mind.

It has me thinking because in DOFP, the future scenes took place in 2023, and this takes place in 2024 so I was wondering if this was a continuation of some sort. If it is connected, this can be seen as an end to the story told from X1, and all that's left is for the current timeline with X-Men Supernova to reach this point. Obviously they could work around it in a way, but I think it would be best for it to be connected  and for this world to end.

I just want to know what direction they're gonna go in. As cool as Deadpool was at the time, I don't know if he could produce as many films the X-Men did, but what has me interested is that the X-Men are already established , and that could be the new primary universe and start fresh in a way. That's the easiest way to redeem themselves.

Logan takes place in 2029 and Mangold pretty much explained that they set it just far enough in the future where something like a one-shot film could exist.

“There’s an epilogue scene in Days of Future Past which is 2024, or 2023, something like that. I just wanted to get far enough past. My goal was real simple: It was to pick a time where I had enough elbow room that I was clear of existing entanglements. Part of the way I think these films stop being fresh (these films being franchise comic book movies) is when you find yourself making essentially a television series with $200 million episodes where you’re literally just picking up where the last one left off and you’re making a mini-series. Then, it’s impossible to do something fresh, meaning essentially you’re just a director on the 14th episode of a television show picking up where the last one left off and people are going to be really startled by any discontinuity or changes.”

I agree with him and I dont. And all that tells me is that it's standalone, yet connected
