THE OFFICIAL 2015 FANTASY BASEBALL THREAD

keeper league or you have someone meh you can cut i'd definitely stash rodon. number 12 prospect in baseball.

who do you have at short and catcher? and who would you pick up if you drop them? i'd lean on holding onto wieters.

At the moment:

SS- Zobrist (listed as 2B, SS, OF)
C- Norris and as of today Plawecki

I definitely need another SS on my bench, so I'm thinking of giving Hardy the boot.

Suggestions?

is alcides escobar available?

maybe try to trade wieters if plawecki hits well but idk what they'll do when t-bone comes back in 6 weeks.

No go for Escobar.

More or less picked up Plawecki to ride out his time in the big leagues. 6 weeks is definitely lengthy to *hopefully* production outta him.

Could always use pitching if I move on from Hardy or Wieters.

What shirt stops are on the wire? I'd lean toward dropping. Hardy if there's someone decent.

Dope pitching staffs really are the key to fantasy. One thing I've reallized already this season.

It's a lot easier to answer if you can give us at least an idea of at least a few guys available.  One SS I've personally had my eye on though was Jed Lowrie.  Been batting in good spots in the lineup and he's been at least decent in recent memory.

I think it really all depends on how your league is setup and what your league-mates tendencies are.  I've been top 3 in my league the past 4 years (two 1st place, two 3rd) and I usually try and go for good hitters early on in the draft honestly, since they tend to go pretty quick in my league.

I've been able to keep Sale the past few years and someone dropped Kluber last year and I was lucky enough to grab him though, so that has helped my pitching to say the least.  That being said, I grab 1-2 bench hitters max and then load up on pitchers.  Try and grab 3-4 closers, and the rest starting pitchers.  If you're on your game early enough, you can get some gems from waivers too.

There's no innings limit in my league, so if you can grab enough starters, you generally don't need to worry about ERA/WHIP every week since ideally you'll win Wins/Saves/K's most weeks, and then ERA/WHIP sometimes as well.

Yeah I caught a nice break with the early waiver wire pickups this year in my keeper league. DeSclafani, Shane Greene and Archie Bradley :pimp: but I've built a great staff in general with Sale, Waino, Cole and deGrom as my foundation.

My other league i caught a great break with everyone over picking pitchers and having justin Upton available in the 7th round  idk how that happened

Yeah those are some great pickups.  I have Sale and Cole as well, and like I said somehow Kluber was dropped last year.  I'm always wary of dropping guys super early for that exact reason, but sometimes you gotta take chances.  Happy I was able to get Lance Lynn and Keuchel as well this year.  Think they'll both be good personally.  I also have Lohse, and yeah he's gotten blown up, but he's always solid so I don't plan on dropping him just yet.

After I lost Mejia early on and was down to 2 closers, I grabbed Ottavino as well cause I figured Hawkins wouldn't keep the job all year.  We all know how that worked out

I think once you're in a league with the same people long enough you tend to figure out how they're going to draft for the most part as well.  That has definitely helped my strategy the past few years.

And that Upton pick is pretty crazy.  I'd kept him the past few years, but after the trade and the fact that I had Rendon, Gomez, and Rizzo made me pass on him this year (we only keep 3 batters and 3 pitchers).  He's definitely had a good start thus far though.

Kluber was definitely an awesome steal. Drafted him in my other league. I Had to drop Morrow today to pick up Plawecki since T Bone is hurt. Don't regret it too much, but Morrow has looked good. Grabbed Volquez in my other league for a spot start today, worked out well. Gonna keep Edison on board a little longer. I like Lance Lynn. Always solid.

Yeah I kinda wish I had grabbed Volquez as well but he still scares me even after this good start.

Worries me as well honestly. I'm expecting a reversion but hopefully it's nothing too serious. If I can get 15 points consistently out of him, I'll take it.

Hey man you never know.  There's always a few pitchers each year that waaaay out-pitch their peripherals.

Ha look at that.. Lowrie is available. As is Andrelton Simmons, Brandon Crawford, Wilmer Flores, and Brad Miller; just a few standouts based off name recognition.

And no doubt to this point my best pickup has been Grilli just a few minutes after that Padres/Braves trade went down. Figured to snag him with Melancon and Hector Rondon as my other closers.

Yeah true. His Babip is probably gonna go up 50 to 100 points but his left on base percentage isn't too much higher than his career average which is encouraging. His sinker and knuckle curve have been really effective and he's been keeping the ball down. Hung a couple of sinkers up in the zone tonight that the twins hitters were late on. Velocity's been good. I can see him pitching to a 3.50 era. Has a 2.61 FIP so it isn't just him getting great defense (although he'll get plenty of it). Gives me 15+ I'll be ecstatic.

Word, from that group I'd go Lowrie.  Not a fan of anyone else you listed personally.  I think Grilli will be one of the best closer pickups this year as well.  I'd say the best but then Ottavino came along...

3.5 would definitely be around my projection as well.  He did have a great year last year too, maybe he figured something out.  Could have just been the Pirates' amazing pitching coaches though

Addison Russell getting called up to play second. Wish I didn't trade him for draft pick compensation. I'd grab him in my other league but I already have the rizzo, Soler, Castro and Bryant
