^^ haha like someone said before, its a non-issue. Just more whines and cries coming from 1 side

What's the problem with the penalty if both fighters are clean?

Let's really clean up the sport of boxing.

The problem is that 5 million dollars after the fact means nothing when you make 50+ million off the fight.

I would sign that off in an instant since 5 mil definitely isn't anything compared to the money they'll both be making. I would be confident in the fact that I'm not going to test dirty. Get that money along with the ban of the dirty fighter from usada. :nthat:

But what do I know? I'm just an outsider looking in.

All I'm hoping for is that both fighters are clean.

Exactly the point. If either fighter should come up dirty, there will be no 5 mil ceiling as a penalty. It'll be open season on the cheater.

You can't cheat on the most profitable fight in history, and think 5 mil will be enough of an apology.

Either fighter would be absolutely stupid to try to cheat at this point, they are both under such a microscope.

I believe I've went back and forth with you on this topic before, bro.

We'll just be beating a dead horse. Everyone has an opinion. Just hope that the fight is fair for both.

Interesting article on Victor Conte's thoughts on USADA Drug Testing....says it isn't olympic style!

http://philboxing.com/news/story-105532.html

VICTOR CONTE CLAIMS CURRENT USADA DRUG TESTS ON PACQUIAO AND MAYWEATHER IS NOT OLYMPIC STYLE TESTING

by Ronnie Nathanielsz

philboxing.com

An expert on the use of various forms of performance enhancing drugs, Victor Conte, claims the current so-called random drug tests conducted by the US Anti Doping Agency on Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao which boxing scribes continue to refer to as “Olympic Style testing” is incorrect.

Conte responded to a question from the New Standard/Viva Sports in the wake of the verbal exchanges between Pacquiao’s longtime adviser Michael Koncz and Mayweather Promotions Leonard Ellerbe after Koncz had suggested that if either fighters tests positive for a banned substance, he pays a fine of $5 million to his opponent.

Conte said “short-term comprehensive blood and urine testing” is what Mayweather and Pacquiao are doing not 24/7 365 days a year like Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire under VADA, the Voluntary Anti Doping Agency as well as Olympic athletes.
He told us that “if a boxer is allowed to determine the start date of the testing, then they can use PEDS and then taper off and begin testing,”

Conte posed the question “what were the boxers doing for the two months before the six weeks of testing before a fight begins” insinuating that it could mean a PED green light.

The expert explained that a boxer “could use PEDs for two months and taper off for two weeks before testing begins for six weeks and still receive benefits at fight time.

He claimed the reason the testing Mayweather and Pacquiao are doing is NOT as effective as 24/7 all year round is because Mayweather determined the start date.

At the same time Conte warned that “it's important for the boxing world to understand that PEDS can have long lasting carry over effects upon performance after use.”

The founder and president of BALCO, a sports nutrition center in California, Conte served time in prison in 2005 after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute steroids and money laundering.
After serving a prison term Conte developed sports supplements that are legal to use and has been in the forefront of efforts to clean up sports.

Conte for some time worked with Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire who enrolled some years ago in a year round random drug testing program of VADA and is now reportedly working with Zab Judah, a sparring partner of Mayweather and Andre Berto.

Where I'm from flip is not considered a racial slur but I know in some circles they do consider that a slur

It's very weird

Kinda like how some circles don't mind being called Pacific Islanders but then people in other circles will kill you if you call them a Pacific Islander

I'm filipino myself and I don't understand the history behind the sensitivity, I'm betting it's a generational thing

*ye shrug

Conte is an expert on the subject matter. That would be insane if Floyd was dirty and has been masking behind his whole testing campaign for years because he knows how to work it. I guess you can never really be 100% on anyone, especially with the top athletes who have the resources.

I ain't never heard that being labeled a racial slur dude talking out his ***

That term had been a derogatory term towards Filipinos back when the U.S. helped the country gain independence. When I wrote my thesis on Filipinos immigrating to the U.S., it was a common theme of discrimination and racial profiling.

From all the responses, it does seem a generational thing. I simply thought it was common among the Filipino community that the word was derogatory.

And for the record, I am Filipino and am not, speaking out my a**. Spending two and half years writing about the 1st generation Filipino Immigrants, I know my facts.

So, I apologize to the NT'er who I commented on about the term. Didn't mean to upset you.

Yea definitely generational. Probably the older you are, the more likely the word is to affect you.

No need to apologize, I've always wondered why some Filipinos get upset and others don't.

false...in the cycling circles and even outside people knew but he had protection because of the money he was generating for all these cancer groups......he will forever be the biggest piece of **** to come through sports because he ruined people lives who spoke out against him.....

my prediction: pac knocks mayweather down, mayweather wins controversial decision - rematch for the $, mayweather wins a decisive decision, retires.

You know very well Lance had every company and the entire world (outside of the extremely small world of cycling) fooled. I agree he's a POS. Let's not pretend Floyd doesn't have the type of clout in the sport of boxing to pull off the rouse that Lance did though. I am not saying Floyd is dirty; I am just saying anything is possible and fans of athletes shouldn't be quick to cape when nobody knows accept the athlete and their inner circle.

American company/media wise they wouldn't touch him but in Europe they were calling that dude a cheater for YEARS.....In cycling a lot of people started speaking out against him but Lance did have americans by the balls (as you alluded too)......the legend Greg Lemond even lost his company because of Lance
